I'm destruction. Been destruction since vanilla. I tried demo and affl and hate demo and liked affliction. I'll stay destruction, so far I can keep up with demo on trash aoe, but single target bosses are hell.
@@tobiyt3414 I took a RoF AoE build, costing me single target. I'm going to try a more single target focussed build next week with tyranical. I just started so gear is not optimal and running +4 through +7 now. And I beat the demo locks at this level on trash pulls, not bosses.
I aggre, as i also play off-meta specs. I am interested if he will have same experience in pugs as me with being declined/kicked often despite topping meters most of the time. (Me being Devastation main)

Yeah this is something that I'm currently trying to remember. The rotation is a lot as it is, then there's the stone, cookies, gateway, circle...the list goes on xD
As affliction you want haste/mast, even though the neck was veteran and from LFR, neck pieces provide no main stat so I was screaming to take that instead lol.
As a mistweaver main (even though mw is very meta this season) I loved this series when I found it and was introduced to your channel last season, and I'm glad to see you doing it again.
Really enjoying this series :) The non-meta struggle is rough. I play arms warrior, and on average i have to apply for 20-25 groups of 11-15's to get in, at an ilvl of 465. People are VERY picky!
I'm Fury with 24 +keys timed at ilvl 485 and even I have issue getting into 20 pugs. They're looking for DHs or Hunters. So i play with friends mostly, when we started we had issues with 10s in Shadowlands but now it's going smoother (and gotten easier with nerfed affixes).
Yeah, the way the pug community treats specs and the IO score is really wild, but this week having the afflicted affix and me already playing a class that contributes 0 to counter/help on this affix really filters out alot of people I'd want to invite to my key, because I do not want to invite a comp that literally forces only the healer to deal with it. And the week before we had Incorperal (cant spell it) wich to me has similar issues, I just find it crazy they created affixes like this and removed stuff like explosive that anyone can/could/should contribute on. I invited a 459 ilvl shadow priest over a 480 something else just for the affix. (he did 80k overall and ignored the affix) but that was my thinking process lmao.

1 tip for your next Everbloom, use Curse of Tongues during that council fight on 1 of the deadly casters, probably the toxic one, its great utility and its free baby! I am still learning to make use of my curse spells, anything with dangerous casts is worthy to slap Tongues on

Im also playing affliction, how funny youtube recommends this, good job YT! other than Aff being my old main and will eventually try to get 20's (15's in Legion/BFA when it was the equivalent of a 20 this exp) on it done in any expansion, i was kinda shocked to find out how well it plays with the 4set soulrot build and if this is the least meta spec in the game I can only say Blizz done a brilliant class/spec design in general in terms of balance, the way the community treats the meta is another story tho, haha I had to be a higher ilvl (461) to get a 16 done last night, wich had to eventually be done by pugging my own key because of the 0 invites but hey, getting there :D!

Gateway control shard or whatever it's called. The item that lets you keybind instead of clicking gateways is invaluable for everyone not just locks. Make or get a weakaura to remind you to pet or sac pet (I use one of these as a warlock of 15 years). As a aff lock, it's also handy to have cast @focus macros for all your basic dots (I use a shift modifier on my regular dot keybinds). That way you can handle two targets without ever switching targets. It's almost fire and forget... When you dot your primary, just press it again with shift held down to do secondary too.
I can't use shift modifiers sadly. I use the Corsair MMO mouse and it doesn't like me using the shift key when pressing any of the buttons. Maybe there's a workaround but I honestly cba to look it up. If I continue on the Warlock after the challenge I may look into doing it differently but for now I prefer having my abilities on mouseover
These videos are so fun. I'm a warlock main (demo for obvious reasons this tier), but I played aff a ton in keys last season. You're definitely figuring it out. Few tips for ya: 1. You can use demonic circle to get out of entagling. 2. You can macro soulburn to your gate to instantly cast it. 3. Get a weakaura to remind you to sacrifice or summon your pet!! :D

BiS trinkets + 4 set are an amazing spot to be in at 450 ilvl that's fucking nuts honestly. Speaking on Demonology though, for me, Pip's outsims Spindle in keys and it definitely doesn't feel as clunky playing with one passive trinket option, and I would assume it's probably the same story for Aff if for no other reason than it prevents further ability bloating, which Aff struggles with. With changes to Malefic Rapture it's a little easier to maintain dots all around, so definitely don't be afraid to roll SL on more than one target in trash if your haste lets you and you won't lose on major casts. It's only going to increase your damage (and survivability, to a much lesser extent). Demonic Circle is ridiculously strong, and the better you learn to utilize it the better your Lock gameplay becomes. Gateway will still generally trigger floor traps or other ground dynamics, teleport won't because you don't physically pass over any terrain. 9:14 Two other options to live here: Once you're safe out of pie slice, you can drop Circle to prep for P2 to get there fast/safe. Alternatively, burning rush off the rip on pie slice cast and a good line and you'd have been fine. Keep it up. Love the Aff representation.
Dear Dilli, you don’t necessarily need to have a focus Target Macro ( 11:07 ), you can also turn on Mouseover Casting in your setting and it will do the same thing ;) Hope this helps!
focus target macro and mouseover casting are not really the same thing. Mouseover is a great alternative - but with a focus-target macro you just set your assigned interrupt target as your focus-target and when the mob casts something you want to interrupt you juct click the macro and it interrupts it (no matter where your mouse is or what you are targeting). Makes interrupting so much easier.
You are absolutely correct but this is how I like to do things. I almost always lose my mouse (even with the CursorTrail addon) so being able to dps one and focus another is what works for me :)
I get that and in the end what works for me might not work for some ^^^ I also played with a focus macro in BFA and SL. I loved it in a set group, but in PUGs I found it to be kinda frustrating if someone kicked your target. (I even set a Target-Marker for my Focus so that I can communicate which color is my targetr to kick)@@kashug.

Dilli i saw a few times you cast Belor'relos Trinket at range you have to cast it in melee range of the target its a splash AOE around you not your target just knowing that will increase your dps by atleast 10k maybe more and it should be the first abilitie cast on pull after your precast =P
I have mained warlock for 10+ years and your issue with positioning is the sole reason i don't enjoy affliction. Sure you can use circle and gate but affliction have one of the highest skill requirements of any spec but mastering it makes it so you can pick up most, if not all, classes incredibly easy. I'm not really into the meta of M+ talents but when i see you run Soul Rot i want you to cast Life Drain as it used to hit all targets affected. I don't know if it does any more but it used to :D
Thinking about affli too. Its nice that seeds applying dots instant. I think with higher keys you would pump way more but i would be happy with this dmg also 😅
Oh yeah, a good player in higher keys will see better results for sure. That said, it's still way behind nearly every class in terms of damage :( I'll reach those higher keys, just you watch!
focus target is great for destruction, to quick pass havoc. For Aff, there is too many, and mouse over macro's are way more better for affliction. They work on the boss frames, and just in the screen. What you didn't do however is use any of the curses that warlock have. CoT on council boss helps a lot, on higher keys people run amp CoT
I didn't say I was using Focus Target stuff for abilities, they are all mouseovers (the one's that should be anyway), I'm using it for Interrupts which I state in the video. Others prefer to use mouseover interrupts but I often lose where my mouse is so it's much easier for me to focus target and not have to worry about it. COT is something I am currently trying to work into the mix.
Lovely! You inspired me to pick up warlock as well, and I wanna say ranged is hella harder than melee. Side note, it seems that you’re not using flasks, or mention them when talking about consumables.
Nope I chose not to due to gold limitations, I thought they were a bit much for what you get out of them. I get them later though as the keys go higher. I would agree that casters are harder than melee but that's cause I have played melee for many years and never bothered with ranged. It's personal preference and we're all different, what's easy for me may be hard for someone else.
There's incentive for higher ilvl players to do lower keys, particularly the 11-15 range to get the heroic tier upgrade crests so that's likely why you saw a 480 player in a +14.
I actually began playing affliction because of those videos , i usually dont do much damage and am not really a high key pusher , i just want to get my 2.5k and get over with the patch , any commenters got suggestions waht would be fun?
A nice trick for Manifest Timeways is to max range the boss so you give yourself more time to avoid the balls, also if you put ur demonic circle ahead of you, you can use that to just jump over the balls once they clear!
I am a warlock main, and i go into melee as soon as the fight start, so when the first ball appears, i just step simply behind it, and i only need to move once, so i can keep casting

Bro that trinket is very good for M+ it syncs perfectly with soul rot , i hope you simed it as dungeon slice (on ST isnt that good not for its stats but rather its debuff).
Actually you can summon your pet and sacrifice it while you fight a boss, there a skill that cut down casting speed for summoning pet that has CD for 2 mins (forgot the name of the skill even though i play warlock my self :-x )
i am 99% sure that you need to use belor'relos trinket in melee range and not from distance (got a guildie lock who is playing it and he is always melee when he using it :D Love your videos keep up the good content
When you said that the vengeance dh had a relatively low ilvl (440) for a 16. I got a little smile on my face, I just 2 chested an 18 brh with my 443 ilvl mw monk 😊
Probably u already are done my friend, but i want to tell you. On AOE situations u dont wanna use haunt. Too much cast time for nothing. And u wanna seed spam after using soulrot, so make good use of your 4th pice and your right side cap stone talent. (Hope u play it). Oh, and the bele'lerosh trinekt is a melee one, so stand in melle when using it.
Yeah, I've been experimenting with that. I realised this but still use it by accident from time to time. I also seed before rot sometimes, I know I shouldn't but my head says one thing and my fingers do another xD The Trinket I didn't even realise if I'm completely honest. I saw this comment last night and fixed it for next weeks video, thank you! :D
as an afflic enjoyer myself i must say that you are in the right path, ive never thought of afflic as bad, just gear dependant, once it gets ilvl and 2ndary stats it goes really well, my warlock is around the 2.400 mark atm and i switch between destro and afflic. At this level im easily top dps or above average anyway, keep going

Think you forgot one quest who give you hero item. Was sec TW quest for BT this NPC was in shat. I had for my warlock Hero 1h my lock now 480 2300 scor and i need do so much +16 to upgrade all my gear haha.
Watched you a while ago just doing 0 to KSM. Thought it was cool but KSM isn’t IMO a challenge. So when I tuned back in and noticed that you’re doing a 0 to KSH with the worst class I was more like “hell yeah that’s content”. Keep going man and make the best of it!

next time don't do the timewalking dungeons, go and kill the bosses in the current timewalking raid. you can get a quest that gives you a heroic track item from the raid and you kill more than 5 bosses so you can end the weekly quest as well, so you get two chests one for normal from the current raid and one hero track item from the ancient raid :) GL
6:27 you got als lock fear and if you spec it you got banhis. 12:10 why you want do that ? Skil for that was never good and can be beter use on other thing and you give up that 10% of dmg you get go to pet ( soul Link ) now you just get +5% stamina.

believe me being meta isnt a bliss either :) you will never be good enough for "elite" puggers, i still remember some demo in legion flaming me for "playing meta and underperforming" for his standards because he did a tiny bit more dps in some key :P i was mostly a raider back then anyway and usually did one run for weekly. got more interested in m+ in bfa when we were not meta anymore and my own guild didnt want to invite me to even +15 so had to proved them wrong. just out of curiosity, do you actually enjoy affliction or just did it as a part of your project because almost noone plays it? i rarely watch wow stuff on yt and totally boycott twitch sorry but this was interesting.playing affliction only lock as main for around 15 years as the only main and trying to do whatever content i manage to do. pugged my way to a bit above 3.1k with some assistance from 2 close friends in s3. will probably try again in s4, got a bit distracted by d4 for a few weeks to not see pug declines temporarily,its abit amusing to see yourself in 100 top affli locks worldwide most seasons, around 20 bfa in the very darkest times,while being a "filthy casual" forever, not there yet now closer to 2.9 but might have another go. no

@@Dillisan not really lately, it's been better as my ilvl is higher now at 469. It was easier once I hit 2k rating but I did that doing my own keys. People have been friendly too outside of one tank telling us to kill ourselves because our DPS was low on a pull /shrug lol... There's always a psycho somewhere

Dont hesitate to pop Curse of tongue on caster bosses, usually really makes fight easier and you do it every 1 minute

One thing I recommend doing early on when starting to learn warlock is to use the gateway control shard on a keybinding!

Affliction warlock is the most beloved warlock’s spec for me in retail, and I wish affliction warlock deal more damage than tanks do)
they deal a lot more dmg than tanks do.

Dear Dilli, you don’t necessarily need to have a focus Target Macro ( 11:07 ), you can also turn on Mouseover Casting in your setting and it will do the same thing ;)

focus target macro and mouseover casting are not really the same thing. Mouseover is a great alternative - but with a focus-target macro you just set your assigned interrupt target as your focus-target and when the mob casts something you want to interrupt you juct click the macro and it interrupts it (no matter where your mouse is or what you are targeting). Makes interrupting so much easier.
You are absolutely correct but this is how I like to do things. I almost always lose my mouse (even with the CursorTrail addon) so being able to dps one and focus another is what works for me :)
I get that and in the end what works for me might not work for some ^^^
I also played with a focus macro in BFA and SL. I loved it in a set group, but in PUGs I found it to be kinda frustrating if someone kicked your target. (I even set a Target-Marker for my Focus so that I can communicate which color is my targetr to kick)@@kashug.

Dilli i saw a few times you cast Belor'relos Trinket at range you have to cast it in melee range of the target its a splash AOE around you not your target just knowing that will increase your dps by atleast 10k maybe more and it should be the first abilitie cast on pull after your precast =P

I have mained warlock for 10+ years and your issue with positioning is the sole reason i don't enjoy affliction. Sure you can use circle and gate but affliction have one of the highest skill requirements of any spec but mastering it makes it so you can pick up most, if not all, classes incredibly easy.
I'm not really into the meta of M+ talents but when i see you run Soul Rot i want you to cast Life Drain as it used to hit all targets affected. I don't know if it does any more but it used to :D
12 days late to reply but my positioning is still poop lol. Maybe it gets a little better but I am struggling, I miss melee xD
Thinking about affli too. Its nice that seeds applying dots instant. I think with higher keys you would pump way more but i would be happy with this dmg also 😅
Oh yeah, a good player in higher keys will see better results for sure. That said, it's still way behind nearly every class in terms of damage :( I'll reach those higher keys, just you watch!
focus target is great for destruction, to quick pass havoc. For Aff, there is too many, and mouse over macro's are way more better for affliction. They work on the boss frames, and just in the screen. What you didn't do however is use any of the curses that warlock have. CoT on council boss helps a lot, on higher keys people run amp CoT
I didn't say I was using Focus Target stuff for abilities, they are all mouseovers (the one's that should be anyway), I'm using it for Interrupts which I state in the video. Others prefer to use mouseover interrupts but I often lose where my mouse is so it's much easier for me to focus target and not have to worry about it. COT is something I am currently trying to work into the mix.

Side note, it seems that you’re not using flasks, or mention them when talking about consumables.
Nah melee is harder in most cases Range is legit easy mode when u got good positioning thats all u gotta learn as range thats the key to 3k io 😂
Nope I chose not to due to gold limitations, I thought they were a bit much for what you get out of them. I get them later though as the keys go higher. I would agree that casters are harder than melee but that's cause I have played melee for many years and never bothered with ranged. It's personal preference and we're all different, what's easy for me may be hard for someone else.
There's incentive for higher ilvl players to do lower keys, particularly the 11-15 range to get the heroic tier upgrade crests so that's likely why you saw a 480 player in a +14.

I actually began playing affliction because of those videos , i usually dont do much damage and am not really a high key pusher , i just want to get my 2.5k and get over with the patch , any commenters got suggestions waht would be fun?

A nice trick for Manifest Timeways is to max range the boss so you give yourself more time to avoid the balls, also if you put ur demonic circle ahead of you, you can use that to just jump over the balls once they clear!
I am a warlock main, and i go into melee as soon as the fight start, so when the first ball appears, i just step simply behind it, and i only need to move once, so i can keep casting

Bro that trinket is very good for M+ it syncs perfectly with soul rot , i hope you simed it as dungeon slice (on ST isnt that good not for its stats but rather its debuff).

Actually you can summon your pet and sacrifice it while you fight a boss, there a skill that cut down casting speed for summoning pet that has CD for 2 mins (forgot the name of the skill even though i play warlock my self :-x )
i am 99% sure that you need to use belor'relos trinket in melee range and not from distance (got a guildie lock who is playing it and he is always melee when he using it :D Love your videos keep up the good content

in waycrest manor it is possible to dot both lord and lady waycrest as there is enough range to get to her.

When you said that the vengeance dh had a relatively low ilvl (440) for a 16. I got a little smile on my face, I just 2 chested an 18 brh with my 443 ilvl mw monk 😊

I saw in everbloom 2nd to last boss. the Suncaller trinket is SUPER mele so you need to stand in mele to hit it.

Probably u already are done my friend, but i want to tell you. On AOE situations u dont wanna use haunt. Too much cast time for nothing. And u wanna seed spam after using soulrot, so make good use of your 4th pice and your right side cap stone talent. (Hope u play it).
Oh, and the bele'lerosh trinekt is a melee one, so stand in melle when using it.
Yeah, I've been experimenting with that. I realised this but still use it by accident from time to time. I also seed before rot sometimes, I know I shouldn't but my head says one thing and my fingers do another xD

Affliction is amazing in m+, people just hate on the spec. It easily outperforms demo in aoe but its not great in single target.
AOE can certainly be very satisfying, ST however not so much. I have the same issue with my Ret Paladin :(
@@Dillisan ret pally blasts so hard on AOE but is a wet noodle in single target. Same for fury warrior lol

as an afflic enjoyer myself i must say that you are in the right path, ive never thought of afflic as bad, just gear dependant, once it gets ilvl and 2ndary stats it goes really well, my warlock is around the 2.400 mark atm and i switch between destro and afflic.
At this level im easily top dps or above average anyway, keep going

next time don't do the timewalking dungeons, go and kill the bosses in the current timewalking raid. you can get a quest that gives you a heroic track item from the raid and you kill more than 5 bosses so you can end the weekly quest as well, so you get two chests one for normal from the current raid and one hero track item from the ancient raid :) GL
Raid often takes too long for me and my time is limited so I'd rather not.

believe me being meta isnt a bliss either :) you will never be good enough for "elite" puggers, i still remember some demo in legion flaming me for "playing meta and underperforming" for his standards because he did a tiny bit more dps in some key :P i was mostly a raider back then anyway and usually did one run for weekly. got more interested in m+ in bfa when we were not meta anymore and my own guild didnt want to invite me to even +15 so had to proved them wrong. just out of curiosity, do you actually enjoy affliction or just did it as a part of your project because almost noone plays it? i rarely watch wow stuff on yt and totally boycott twitch sorry but this was interesting.playing affliction only lock as main for around 15 years as the only main and trying to do whatever content i manage to do. pugged my way to a bit above 3.1k with some assistance from 2 close friends in s3. will probably try again in s4, got a bit distracted by d4 for a few weeks to not see pug declines temporarily,its abit amusing to see yourself in 100 top affli locks worldwide most seasons, around 20 bfa in the very darkest times,while being a "filthy casual" forever, not there yet now closer to 2.9 but might have another go. no

@@Dillisan not really lately, it's been better as my ilvl is higher now at 469. It was easier once I hit 2k rating but I did that doing my own keys. People have been friendly too outside of one tank telling us to kill ourselves because our DPS was low on a pull /shrug lol... There's always a psycho somewhere
its crazy that affliction is the worst spec in the game, iv not been playing mine long at all and i did 349k overall in a dungeon ... affliction is just fine
