This is what KEITH RICHARDS said about Paco de Lucia: ÂŦYou say I'm a guitar legend. You have no idea. There are only two or three guitarists who can be considered legends. And above all of them, is Paco de LucÃa.Âŧ
KEITH WHO???? LOL
Al Di Meola is more than in the conversation. But Paco? One of my all time faves. Genius.
Spain is guitar . The guitar was born in Spain and for us like Ãpera, piano or music in general sinnce rap to heavy, is part of us. Spain is Music, Literature, Art, Architecture And thousands years of History Since the older country of Europe, thankâs
Not sure about that thing that the guitar was born in spain. Lutes were all around Europe, no idea who came up with the shape, size or frets.
â@@f.g.5967Guitar was born in Spain. Lute is a different animal.
Same thing with bagpipes, many think is from Scotland but not a fact. Spain also has a great history of bagpipes as well and more melodious than those from other parts of the world.

This is not the album version, but a television performance in which Paco de LucÃa improvises a good part of the song, with excellent results. Awesome.
You have to see how wonderful the percussionist is too.

Paco de LucÃa Leyend!!! âĪâĪ
A bunch of the greatest guitar players you can think of name Paco de LucÃa as an inspiration and a legend.
Fun fact. This piece started as a jam session based on a popular song from the previous year by 2 gipsy sisters "Las Grecas" - Te estoy amando Locamente. Who would say this was gonna be one of the signature songs by Paco?
If you wanna listen to some crazy stuff from those years in Spain, try Barrabas "Wild Safari" (1972), sung in English. And then you have the progressive rock fussion with flamenco (1975 -1980) Triana (Abre la Puerta, Se de un Lugar, El Lago). Unforgettable themes.
Master of Masters,
Great reaction, I use to listen to him in the late 70's all the time while living in Spain
The greatest virtuoso that set foot on earth by far.
I will explain it from the perspective of a master guitarist that actually plays also flamenco, with the electric guitar technique I could play any solo from any guitarist no matter how fast or hard, I just need to study the solo and practice it and in a month or two depending the difficulty I could do it, now with flamenco solos specially Paco de Lucia technique I could study the song and practice during 6 month and still I can't reach his speed and cleaning sound, is because of this guy I started to get into flamenco, I had nothing to do or Prove to my self or no one else with the electric guitar so I got into flamenco, in the words of my master when I asked him to teach me flamenco, "you are on your own, in the world of the guitar the Flamencos are on top and all of us come down from there". Paco de Lucia is the best guitar player on history, behind him there's couple names and yes those are electric guitar players. No more comments.
Amazin, if you let me add something to your comment: he did not study music, by the time he was playing this song he did not know how to read a staff. That makes his story even more incredible. Cheers up
@@gasinier yep, I know the whole biography and history of him, is one of my guitar idols since I met his music.

Nice to see you react to this music. When this song came out I was 14 years old in Spain and not too much people did care about flamenco guitar until Paco de Lucia appeared on the scene.Entre dos aguas was a massive hit! Every radio station was playing it day after day and PacoÂīs career was launched like a rocket. He played and recorded alongside with John Mc Laughlin,Al di Meola and Larry Corryell and kept on his flamenco work.
As you noticed Spanish nylon strings guitarÂīs fretboard is shorter than the one used on regular acoustic or electric guitars. The twelveth fret is touching touching the guitarÂīs body.Cheers from Spain

" Keith Richards Rolling Stone Guitarist "
Hello Robk! It's a flamenco guitar. It sounds slightly different from the classical Spanish guitar. I think the sound is a bit drier and more raspy, so to speak. Then there's the performer, of course. Paco de LucÃa was the great exponent of flamenco and flamenco/fusion. Greetings from Spain!
It is, indeed. Classical players love instruments with a spruce top and narrower neck, Flamenco players prefer guitars with cipress (juniper?) top and wider neck, with lower action.
I meself am Spanish and play celtic fiddle, but I'm convinced that if there's not fiddle tradition in Spain, It's due to the overwhelming presence of the guitar...
No complains. I love guitar, too :D
â@@ConsairtinFergus there IS fiddle tradition in Asturias and Galicia

King of kings
you just have listen the best guitarrist of history Rob.....
great paco de lucia! Did you know that this song was improvised? There was a song missing to close the album, and he invented it and recordered it on the spot.
That's the classic guitar also known as Spanish guitar which is the same as saying the "standard guitar", because the instrument was invented in Spain. The accoustic guitar Anglos use has a longer fretboard, a bigger resonance box and steel strings. The Spanish one uses nylon for the high strings and brass for the low ones.
It's a Masterpiece!ðŪ

I dont think there is an other country where the guitar is more engrained into culture as in spain. I have been to Malaga and we have been to a friends house "random dude" so to say but of course he played the guitar to a decent level and the entertainment that evening was of course him playing guitar and we singing and jaming to it. We went to some bars and you could see generations, especially females, young ladies and ladies in their 50s claping syncronous to the beat of some flamenco live bands. It's like second nature. I was highly impressed.
You are reacting to the most commercial song of Paco, if you really want to hear Paco de Lucia donÂīt listen to this, is just and improvisation done for filling an album cause they needed another son more, It is fun and became very famous but his music is a lot more intense an complicated to hear but at the same time beautiful, interesting, innovative. If you thing that scales (picados) are incredible listening to his music will blown your mind.

Pure technique! Can you react to Abel Pintos - El adivino (live)? You're gonna like it for sure.
The guitar is an Spanish guitar which has a number of differences with acoustic guitar. The fretboard is, indeed, shorter than an acoustic guitar, as the join between body and neck is in the twelve fret, instead of 14 or 15 in an acoustic guitar. Another difference is the neck, which is wider and the fretboard is completely flat .Finally, string are made of nylon, not steel
