Hello Robk! It's a flamenco guitar. It sounds slightly different from the classical Spanish guitar. I think the sound is a bit drier and more raspy, so to speak. Then there's the performer, of course. Paco de Lucía was the great exponent of flamenco and flamenco/fusion. Greetings from Spain!
It is, indeed. Classical players love instruments with a spruce top and narrower neck, Flamenco players prefer guitars with cipress (juniper?) top and wider neck, with lower action. I meself am Spanish and play celtic fiddle, but I'm convinced that if there's not fiddle tradition in Spain, It's due to the overwhelming presence of the guitar... No complains. I love guitar, too :D

Nice to see you react to this music. When this song came out I was 14 years old in Spain and not too much people did care about flamenco guitar until Paco de Lucia appeared on the scene.Entre dos aguas was a massive hit! Every radio station was playing it day after day and Paco´s career was launched like a rocket. He played and recorded alongside with John Mc Laughlin,Al di Meola and Larry Corryell and kept on his flamenco work. As you noticed Spanish nylon strings guitar´s fretboard is shorter than the one used on regular acoustic or electric guitars. The twelveth fret is touching touching the guitar´s body.Cheers from Spain
You know when you declared your love to a beautiful woman, and you feel you hit it and got her for life? That guitar has just received a love declaration like that.
That's the classic guitar also known as Spanish guitar which is the same as saying the "standard guitar", because the instrument was invented in Spain. The accoustic guitar Anglos use has a longer fretboard, a bigger resonance box and steel strings. The Spanish one uses nylon for the high strings and brass for the low ones.
