Paco in the 90s was an absolute machine. In this video he is older, not quite as machine-gun with his fingers, but what he had gained is extraordinary. His sense of timing and subtlety is mind boggling. I don’t expect a non-flamenco aficionado to capture it, but he is extending phrases and chord changes in surprising ways. He pulls at the flamenco fabric, but doesn’t tear it. Every phrase is a surprise. There are many great masters in the flamenco tradition, but there was only one god and I don’t expect that he’ll be surpassed in my lifetime.
Amazing, hearing and seeing this. Ok, thank you Rollen, now I will not dare to touch any guitar for the next few weeks. I remember buying the vinyl album where he played with John McLaughlin and Al Dimeola. Fantastic music.
When Eric Clapton found out about the death of Paco de Lucía, he commented: "With Paco de Lucía, the God of the guitar left, the rest of us are apostles".
Hey Rollen, are you going crazy? How could an American like this kind of show... Flamenco is a sung and danced art that originated in Andalusia, a province in southern Spain and developed by the many gypsy communities and then the entire Andalusian people. Yes it's true, if Paco at this time no longer has the same exteriority and the speed of his youth, he remains a very great guitarist and even perhaps the greatest Flamenco guitarist of all time. There are technically very good ones even today, perhaps better than him, but he is the one who revolutionized and made the flamenco guitar evolve!! In any case, congratulations to you for opening up to an art that might seem difficult for some. In July and for a month there is the "feria in Seville" in Spain and everything revolves around the Flamenco art of living. I think you'd be like a fish in water!
Paco only sounds like three guitars and a bass, it is incredible and let me mention the art of clapping in flamenco music, it is unique, beautiful and extremely difficult.
BTW, if i am not mistaken the maestro plays a felipe hermanos conde signature model after his name, Paco de lucia. and it is expensive, costing about Euro 9K, looking really very elegant and exquisite. The only other guitarist in paco's time having a signature model by the same make is Al Dimeola.
I would like to mention the person or persons who accompanied with that tapestry of clappistry😅 although after a while the clapping started to sound like fapping😂
Master of masters. What a joy it is to listen to Paco.

the guitar with Paco. laugh, cry, scream, whisper, elevate the guitar to a level that you forget you are playing it

@ManuelDeEscayola primero que no te he insultado.

LOL nice!
I hope people now understand why Rosalina is not flamenco after watching this video.
