Nice job saving the outboard! I notice in the debrief segment that Kris seems to have some new arm art in the style of the Marquesas Islands. I am guessing this means you have made a successful Pacific crossing. Well done. Cheers
Great to see Team Happy Days at work again, wish it were under better circumstances! Seriously, you folks would make a great put crew for a racing team! Fantastic video of the surfing as well, you are all so talented. Keep the great content coming, love you all and your videos! ❤😊
The takeaway should also be acting as a role model for your children to show then that always being willing to lend a hand for those that need a helping hand is the way to live your life.
Great job on the recovery! It's always tough when things like that happen, but sailing wouldn't be fun without solving problems. A little known fact about bowlines is that they can work loose under cyclical loading and unloading (such as wave action on a rode) even if they are tied snug. An anchor (fisherman's) bend works well for anchor rodes, although it is notably more difficult to tie and untie. A round-turn and two half hitches or a buntline hitch also work well for securing to a ring, however, not quite as effective as the anchor bend.
I'm sorry you lost a few items when the Dinghy flipped over. At least the battery, fuel tank and motor was able to be serviced and continued to work for you! The surf looked amazing for everyone to have some Fun too! 🙏🏻👍🤗👏😇🌟
Yes very unfortunate that these things can occur adding to the stress levels and the hip pocket but the one thing to take from this is at least no one was hurt 😊😊
Not the first time that engine has been turned over in the surf. Happened in Matthew Town, Bahamas as well. Those Yamahas are work horses and well worth the extra cost. Good to know how to tear that down and put it back together. Life skill that will be useful for these kids sometime later in life I'm sure. All the best from California!
A lot of work getting done on the boat these days, on Happy Days. Seems you're preparing for something big?! Great lesson provided this episode on the importance of tying sound knots! I'm glad you at least got the motor back in order, with a little help from your friends. In turn you lent a hand to another: that's a sound policy.
There's a tendency for "western" tourists to worry too much about "interfering" with the daily flow of local people's lives, particularly in rural settings in less economically developed countries. My experience working in such environments for many years, is that local people gladly accept a helping hand when it's offered humbly and without hubris. Well done.....and the groms are getting better than the oldies - especially at not mullering!! 😂
Have you ever had any run-ins with local surfers about surfing "their" wave? I think Seth from The Sailing Family did in Huahine FP. He was the only one out there and a local came out from shore and ran him off. Very unfortunate.
We heard that Huahine or all of French Polynesia can be a bit territorial but we’ve found Australia is worse 😜 and the locals we meet have been welcoming although it is a little intimidating when a whole dinghy load show up to the break.
Glad your outboard was ok. It is always a good idea to have dual auto-pilots, but with children on board guess there is no reason to speed the bucks. Kids like to stear anyway. Be happy, be safe
6:30 (ish) You liked "war stories" from a "French foreign legion legend"? I have never criticized you (for real) for the whole time I've been following your channel, but this time I will. "French foreign legion" is a loosely organized gang of mindless sadistic mercenaries who kill people France wants gone to acquire anything from bananas to uranium. The attrocities they have committed in Africa over the years make ME shudder. Chances are, that "legend" that helped you with the dinghy has killed a few people younger than your kids during his "service". I'm sure he has a funny way of talking about it and omitting SOME details. All mercs do.

Ah yes… good pick up. Full details in our upcoming Pacific videos 😉

So true 😊

We will try these other knots you’ve mention and see what works well because there’s certainly more surfing adventures to come
That dinghy incident would have been intense, and helping that woman with the water was the right thing to do. Definitely showing some ANZAC spirit
Thank you ☺️

So true! Stoked we got it going again!
Glad you scored some nice waves!..shame about the flipped tender..but you live and learn!..back to happy days!…🤙🏽❤️
You got that right!
Groovy video. Sorry about your dingy. Surfs up, dingys over.
😂

Exactly. A challenge, a learning opportunity but no harm done 👍

No way! 😂 that’s 3 times then and she’s still going strong 💪
Love the surfing footage. Wish you could have got a better angle on that.
Great family!
Thanks… learning slowly how to get better surf footage 😜

Yes most people will receive help regardless of who they are and this has been our experience. ☺️
Thank you for sharing - love watching your family adventures!
Glad you like the adventures! Thanks 😀
Your family are wonderful to watch. Love your videos and thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing guys, was a fun watch 🤙🤙
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks guys, 👍🏻🌊💕🐾
Our pleasure!
Man I feel so bad for Bells, she looked devastated that she didn't make it back in time. She gave it such a good try.
Yeah she was gutted 😞

OH LOOK!!!! My advocating for The Mom led to her release from her cooking/cleaning prison boat!!! Where's Oprah when you need one! 😀
Great episode truly inspiring !! What antifoul u use ? Self polishing ? International ?
This time we used Seajet - a 2 part hard ablative - we’ve found the international self polishing disappears too fast with the number of miles we do.

Very true!
So... We flipped the dinghy in broad daylight, almost killed the engine. So I have an idea, let's do that again... only this time in the dark. 😀
Yeah why not?! 😂
where'd the tattoo come from? love watching you guys!
All will be revealed in the Pacific videos 😉
Lit
Thanks
Flip a jet ski in the 80’s. Flip it the spin it the run it…. It’s doesn’t have valves. You can’t hurt with plugs out, carb up…..
Crazy! Jetskis are good in that regard
14:00 STOP TALKING!!!! 😀
😂 waffling again
Move that gas stove outside, put an electric inside and your heat will be way less inside.
Thinking this might be the plan if we get lithium batteries 👍
Buy her a water carrier with wheels.
What's MPPT?
Maximum power point tracking AS OPPOSED TO PWM (Pulse-width modulation). MPPT is more efficient and creates less heat.
@@svroundabout That doesn't really clarify things. 😀What does it do?
@@Maloy7800 takes the DC.voltage from higher than 12v (19v -ish to 500v in a household system) down to 12v -ish to charge the batteries.
Did I miss it? What happened with Archie's tooth?
His tooth extraction was briefly covered in the last episode, 2:33-8. Easy to miss.
Yep a quick little snippet in there as @FrankJamger mentioned… didn’t want to give anyone dentist anxiety but wanted to share the outcome.
