As much as I hate the idea of Siri, I had to use it to call my son after I had a car accident, as I couldn''t reach my phone. I didn't know if it would work, but remembered someone showing it to me once. Worked great, got my son on his mobile straight away. I am leaving it on. But thanks for these tips, great info.
Speaks TheTruth, when something happens like that you don’t think twice, you do whatever comes to you mind, and in accidents your so scared you are not thinking to do something
This was SO helpful, & appreciative of the on screen view of the device & the changes to be made. Also, your clear & concise directions. Following along to make the changes, AS YOU’RE speaking...fairly slowly, is Most helpful! Thank you. Looking forward to your next installment!
This tutorial is extremely invaluable! Finally, I am understanding the complexities of the iPhone and how we need to be well versed on the phone's functionality. Thank you, Joe! Great Tutorial!
That was helpful. Thanks. Another setting that is worth changing: Background App Refresh. Go to: Settings > General > scroll down to: Background App Refresh > click on: Background App Refresh > Background App Refresh > choice of: Off/Wifi/Wifi & Mobile Data I keep it on Off, to let device charge quicker. These are settings for iOS 12.
If you go into settings - general - accessibility - then scroll down to hearing and it will have LED flash for alerts - enable that and enable flash on silent - as I think it’s really helpful because if someone is ringing me and my phones on silent a friend could be like oh ur phones flashing 😂- also if u loose it just in a car or something and it happens to be on silent and someone’s ringing it for u u could spot the flash before noticing the vibration
Make sure to turn off control centre being accessible from your locked screen! If someone ends up stealing your phone they could turn on airplane mode and you won’t be able to use find my iPhone.
Even in Airplane mode the phone will still connect to WiFi networks it already knows about... so it could still show up on FindMyiPhone, or be wiped. Great idea though, what I did was turn the setting so that control center can be accessed on the lock screen, but only when the phone is unlocked (if you have just looked at the phone on the X without swiping up, or rested your finger on the TouchID sensor without pressing home). Thanks!
Ayda Escapes hey really appreciate this comment but I’m worried coz idk what’s going on with Apple but I got an iPhone 6 and when I go on settings and controls centre there isn’t an option for me to turn off the controls centre on lock screen please help ?
Fatima Iqbal You go into Touch ID and passcode, type in your password, and scroll down to “ allow access when locked.” Then turn off control Center. Hope this helped! :)
iPhones are not that special there are phones that surpass iPhone doing different things that iPhone can’t do unless you find special add on Accessory to do so
Finally, a settings video that’s relevant to me. The Microsoft one was irrelevant because I use somebody else’s computer and Android because I don’t own an Android device (obviously).
I like General > Accessibility > Home Button and turning on Rest Finger to Unlock. This means you don’t have to press the home button to unlock and instead you just touch it, so great! (For touchID devices only)
Always have Bluetooth turned off when not in use, it’ll save you a lot of battery (for iOS 11+ users you’ll have to manually go into Settings to turn it off, if you turn it off from the control center it only “temporarily” turns off
Thanks for the tip, I was wondering why the Bluetooth kept turning its self on when I don't even use it. It would be nice if it said in a notification that Bluetooth is temporally disabled when you turn it off from the quick menu.
Robbaz Corgi it does the same thing with WiFi. It should say a little " Wifi temporary disabled until tommorow" I'm sure Bluetooth says the same. But I haven't checked since I don't use Bluetooth devices at all
My favourite iphone setting is actually an accessibility feature which reduce's the screen's brightness. In settings>general>accessibility>zoom change the zoom region to "Full Screen Zoom" and then change the zoom filter to "Low Light". Then go back the accessibility menu and scroll all the way down and add an accessibility shortcut for zoom. Now, whenever minimum brightness still isn't dim enough, all you need to do is triple tap home and a low light filter is applied! You can still adjust the brightness in control centre to get it just right. I use this every night in combination with night shift and it's been much nicer on my eyes. It's also great if you have a migraine but still need to use your phone. Back when I had an android I just had a dimmer app installed which pretty much did the same thing except it allowed for a lot more control, but when I bought my iphone I was disappointed to find so such app exists in the App Store.
I'm new to Apple products, so this was very helpful in adjusting the privacy settings on my 2018 iPad! I hate all of the tracking and targeted ads...preserving as much personal info is important to me, so thanks for the video! :-)
Most of iPhone users never get further in the settings than wallpaper change - so vids like these could push them to get some education. Literally none of my friends with iPhone does not even changed their ringtone.
I agree. The reason is that iPhone and IOS are so well designed and built that even without any changes they are superior. Unlike Android that is absolute crap. I have them both and Android is 20 years behind.
4 years later and this tutorial is still very helpful! I had to make changes to all except 2 of them... made the switch 2 years ago from Android and I’m 45 so this was tremendously helpful.
hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to discover iphone user guide try Pycanta Simple iPhone Protocol(Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my neighbor got excellent results with it.

Under Settings > Cellular > iCloud drive (when not connected to wifi, use mobile data to transfer data). Seems like a stupid question, but would you recommend keeping it enabled, or would you disable it?
Everytime ppl say turn something off this helps them stop showing stuff you watch or like I never seen anything all the stuff they show isn’t interesting to me like it’s nothing I would watch or want you know
So watched a few of your videos in hope to solve my fast draining battery in my old 6s plus (I bought it when it first came out and most days probably am using it 20 hrs a day) Anyway battery is still crap but I followed all of your switching advice in terms of settings and at first my phone completely freaked out and started randomly calling people and typing like it was possessed. Then I hard restarted it and the picture is like super HD. Not sure about anything else but that was well worth the fiddling. Thanks

I saved this video in my "Watch Later" for when I upgraded my iPhone 5S. I finally got the iPhone 11 yesterday now I am here today to use these tips lol.
ThioJoe I have a question how can you disable that app that always pops up about like subscribing Apple Music I try to play a song on my iPod & it doesn’t allow me to play it at all because that stupid thing always pops up can you plz help I would appreciate it
BE ADVISED- sounds elementary, but if you only have one Apple device, turn off two-factor authentication! I once had a one consuming issue when resetting my phone. I believe two-factor was automatically turned on with an update, and I didn’t have another logged in Apple device.
There's no need to turn it off, even when you only have 1 device. If there's no other trusted device, you have the security code sent via sms to the one device that you own and everything is fine.
yeah. i do feel the same case before. my phone was lost with my trusted number on it, so i cant get the verification code. :( but then i contacted the apple care & chat with the customer care. he tells the instruction - what should i do. in one of the instruction step im asked to change the trusted phone number. it works. but the bad things that i need to wait for like 1 month. thats a long wait... but its worth to try to get back your account & data.
I have an iPad but not an iPhone, and I found a lot of the information in this video helpful. I still have a passcode on my iPad and my screen locks immediately once I turn the display off.
This was so helpful. The autoplay was pissing me off so much whenever I use my car, it auto plays music. Or when I use TH-cam and try to increase the volume, it plays Apple Music automatically.
I’ve been miserable without PiP since I left Android about a month and a half ago. I almost want to ask you to take this down so I don’t lose it again. 😂😂 Great work man. Just did this and it’s still an excellent solution. Anyone reading, it may have a few steps, but then you get to stay on the official app and have PiP!
You are AMAZING ~ Thankyou, On My IPhone Max 10 My Safari keeps clogging up with Reviews I need a simple way to get rid of these. I have followed your vid above Maybe I should restart my ph for settings to take place Cheers from New Zealand xx
This is my second time watching this video and I caught a few i had missed. I had 99% of them already done from the first view. Great video thank you. Maybe do one for iOS13 once it comes out - if relevant. cheers!
for my password I always use the time it is so its not something that means anything to me and no one can guess it, for example if its 5:17 pm ill make the password 017150
Found this very helpful, as a first time smart phone user and at 75 need all the help I can get, the trouble these days everyone thinks your tech savvy
I like that you take privacy seriously, not enough people do. But I think you are unfair with Apple. They seem to me to be the only company actually acting for privacy. They have a clear privacy section, they always inform you when an app asks access to something, and safari has options to block tracking, etc. Contrary to Google, Facebook and Amazon, Apple look like they're actually taking privacy seriously too. And to my recall, they're the only company which called privacy a fundamental right. You may ask what's their interest in caring for privacy? I think it's a way for them to differentiate themselves from other companies... they become the option for those wanting to keep their privacy. Another element showing they're probably not lying is that the FBI actually had trouble opening iPhones, even to access criminals' data. So Apple protects their users' info. Great vid overall, you made me change some of my settings haha ^^ Funny enough, most of them were already changed on my iPad!
What about the part where the govt specifically has a group watching you through the camera, or did you miss that memo they sent you. FBI did not access criminals data, they already had it. News is just a cover up to make you belive. Truth.
A company can call a turd a beautiful unicorn but get past the sugar coated BS and it's still a turd. Go into your keyboard settings, scroll down to where it says to learn more about dictation and then see if you feel your privacy is a fundamental right.

You forgot Emergency SOS which could save your life

I used the second verification code and it gave me a number. Where do I key it in?
for my password I always use the time it is so its not something that means anything to me and no one can guess it, for example if its 5:17 pm ill make the password 017150

Claire White hi
