    Chris words fail me to be able to express my gratitude for all the effort you put in to give us a real taste of the awesome countryside you hike through and the scenery thereabouts. Absolutely stunning quality my friend has to be near the top end of any of these channels. Your narrative and stories leave me hanging for more so keep them coming thanks mate. ATVB. Bushyboy Oz.

      I like when you go into the Sierra. When I was young, my Mom and I went up in a pack train to the High Sierra and stayed at a Sierra Club base camp. Famous mountain climbers were there and the Old Man of the Mountains, Norman Clyde, stopped for just a little while. He was about 90 years old carrying a 100-lb.pac He dozed a bit on a giant boulder before shoving off to God knows where. Barely said anything. A real Legend, he knew the Sierra like the back of his hand. Hiked alone all over and would find planes that crashed, lost people, etc. That was some trip. The owners of the Ondine nightclub in Sausalito brought a caseload of tequila and my Mom had tea every afternoon with an English gentleman while I nurtured a romance with a 14 -year-old mountain climber (I was the same age lol) and we read Howl by Allen Ginsberg, swaying shirtless in a hammock near an Arctic-cold lake. Teenage hormones at their apogee! They had the best food! They would get ship's cooks or railroad cooks. One of them made the best French toast I ever had, crisp and sugary you could carry hiking. I keep looking for that recipe!
      The other base camp trip we went on was in the Cascades had to take a boat up the fjordlike Lake Chelan. That was in Washington State. I don't think there were roads or at least damn few at the time. That's why the boat. We slept on the top of a cliff - my Mom scorned RV and trailer camping - her tent was a tarp strung up over a line between two trees. At night we would hear avalanches across the valley. We explored a mine beneath a glacier. But I was claustrophobic. On that trip I was only 12 and I was so wilful... I took off by myself down the mountain with a miner's hat I sequestered and thought I heard footsteps behind me. I ended up getting lost in a semidry creek bed amongst the grasses and finally found my way. Another great trip, my Mom and I hung out with Ansel Adams the great photographer of Yosemite and had good conversation. 20:39

      Btw I've gotten several Aztec death whistles to fend off cougars and anything else like Sasquatch or a loose human wing nut maybe the occasional Aztec lol. Piercing sound.

      Here's a wonderful tale that's true: I call it Good Karma. I'm 78 years old, don't expect me to remember names lol:
      During the Gold Rush, a certain adventurous enterprising man failed to strike it rich in the gold fields so he turned to driving mule teams selling and delivering supplies to miners. Those entrepreneurs usually got richer than gold miners. He was doing good when, on one trip, his team rounded a corner and came across another team, stripped naked and lying dead, horribly scalped. He thought (and his team doubtless as well): well, maybe I should turn around but he was stubborn like I am and he had a job to do. He was trying to eventually make it back up to Trinidad on the coast and his boss. They traveled on ahead and soon came across another team, dead and scalped as well. They kept going trying to be very careful but a gang of Indians inevitably accosted them. Tied them to trees, stripped them naked and were about to kill and scalp them when one young brave took his fellows aside and told them that this man (the team leader) had saved his life in the past. So he let them go and untied them. But they were still naked and shoeless and the ground was hard to trod being rocky so they went down to a sandy creek bed or riverbed and traveled up that body of water. At least their scalps were firmly attached to their heads, they thought. Well what do you know .. change that saying to no good deed goes unrewarded! Along the way traveling barefoot in the sand of the creek bed they discovered a super rich vein of gold. Maxwell (that was his name) was suddenly hugely rich and used that gold to buy a big plot of land in Sonoma County, build a farm and ranch and his son or grandson became famous for trying to plan agriculture around feeding starving people around the world. It's a fabulous story because it's real and the farm is now a beautiful park in El Verano,a suburb of Soco I used to live in.. Giant California Bay trees, very old, a creek, the inevitable soccer field (aw civilization!) and a Boys and Girls Club, playgrounds, tennis courts, it's great you can hike and feel totally alone, pick bay nuts (a delicacy to the local Pomo tribe)You just have to watch out for the occasional addicts screaming up the creek like lunatics. They might be scarier than Sasquatch. It's pretty eerie.

    • @DizzyDad
      @DizzyDad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anybody can explore these types of places, "blessed" or not. It is Tomfoolishness to incorporate your [commonly accepted] perspective in a manner in which all folks would agree. If your "God" created the world, and created people, why would it be surprising for a person to be able to explore here? It makes zero sense for a person the have to be "blessed" in order to explore a place where literally anyone could. Just because someone says the word "blessed" doesn't deserve a thumbs up on it's own; the words have to make sense as well. But who's easier to convince than a devout fool? c'mon gee

    • @donnatarawneh2014
      @donnatarawneh2014 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No not everyone has had the opportunity to do this and I wouldn't have thought I needed to spell out exactly what I meant. My point was that not every one has the opportunity to explore these type of places on a regular basis. I'm not so stupid as to think it would be impossible for an able bodied person to physically explore the places this man does. Your very ignorant to think that everyone has this opportunity on a regular bases. Do you realize that every person on the face of the earth is included in the definitions of anyone or everyone? If you think everyone's circumstances in life allows them to do this sort of thing, especially on a regular basis than you must be very shallow and not much of a deep thinker whatsoever. How stupid can one be and still breath? I used the word blessed because Im a person that is grateful and definately beleive in being thankful for what we have in life and not take anything we have for granted. Grow up smart ass and take a look at other peoples situations around the world.

      @@DizzyDad so ...not everyone has the time,money,freedom,physical abilities or access to do what this man does so regularly.Obviously you have zero faith,but why not let ppl express themselves in a grateful manner without scrutiny or criticism?Don't need to believe in God to have a little kindness.

      @DizzyDad, your such a toxic personality. If it weren't for the internet and your entitled personality attacking others comments you would have no life. People such as you need to get a life of your own, maybe then you might appreciate people's from their hearts good natured comments. Get out of your basement and see the world.

      i spent my childhood in Montana in a small town, not really small but by compaison to cities, it was. it had a trout steam ight outside of town and my Dad would go fishing every night after wok and come home with rainbow trout fo our dinners. i guess we ate them as fast as he could catch them. I do not recall having a freezer. Anyway, when we moved away to WA and a ‘big city” I never quite got over the shock and homesickness for Montana. “Montana, Montana, Glory of the West, of all the States from coast to coast you’re reasonably the Best. Montana Montana, where skies are always Blue. M O N T A N A, Montana, I love you.”. The summers are splendid but short. Snow can fall anytime after Sept !. and it did. We used to Trick o Treat in the snow some years.🎃

    I am so jealous of where you live. In Switzerland you'll hardly find a quiet place to pop a tent. Civilization is everywhere 😞

    Hi Chris, the snow-capped mountains & fall color were breath taking! I enjoy your videos & all the neat camping equipment you have. I do car camping at state parks here in Wisconsin. I've done tent camping, but I got a Little Guy teardrop camper & love it. When camping, I enjoy a trail hike, bird watching & of course the campfires. Stay safe & enjoy all those great hiking trips!

I won't ever see these places myself, but they way you video and guide the viewer is top notch! Better than any tv show could do!

    You should go over Luther Pass up to Hope Valley. Lots of Quaking Aspen Groves. It’s painted a lot. Also you can keep going over pass like you’re going to Jackson and go to Caples Lake. You’ll love these places
