    Hey man I know you stopped uploading but I just want to say thank you I love your videos I’m a drummer in a band but I play guitar very casually and you make it possible for me to learn my favorite songs! I hope you know your work has inspired many ❤

      I appreciate it, man! Last couple of years have been a whirlwind. My wife and I had a baby, and my real estate business has taken much of my time. I would love to get back to making lesson videos though so stay subscribed!

    Don’t stop this Coheed wave man. I love it. This band is so important to me. I’m from Rockland County, NY and saw Coheed back in the Shabutie days. Keep it going. Maybe Everything Evil next? Your videos are great !!

    Perfect timing. I sit down for the first time in a while to play, am unsure what I want to do, then see this, one of my favorite and first Coheed songs. For some reason never tried to play (wondering why now...) and you made it so simple! Thanks bro!

      Thanks man! This one is probably the most rock n’ roll song on the entire record, and the bridge is possibly my favorite part of any Coheed song. Have fun with it!

    I haven't laughed that hard in a good while, great story. And I was curious, how does a new band start a tour? Me and a few friends are thinking of starting a band in a few years and more than anything I want to tour (lets hope those gas prices are down by then). Were you with a record label and they helped you out or were you on your own?

    • @RickLandGuitar
      @RickLandGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha dude the short answer is…yes we were signed to an indie label out of New York…and NO they didn’t give us any funding. We were not smart about it at all..heed the advice of the story and don’t jump in a van without money or a plan to go play venues in the south in the summer.
      My advice is to work hard to be the tightest band you can be and plan weekend gig trips to different cites within driving distance of you. Become established, never stop writing, never become content, and keep going no matter what!

    The lead is the right notes in the beginning but a like... Measure off. It's like you know how to play the song but don't listen to coheed somehow 😅😂 great playing though man.

    How in the hell of all hells am I supposed to reach for 17 whilst holding onto the 10th :O

    • @RickLandGuitar
      @RickLandGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The key here is to relax! Stay as light as you can, and work each day on getting from 10-15 and then eventually your hand will relax and stretch to get that 17th comfortably…in the short term you can kind of fake your way through that part using the 15th fret of the B string (also a D note) to 17e

    • @ArtyMartyD
      @ArtyMartyD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RickLandGuitar Aaaah okay.
      15 is very easy for me to reach but the way my hand has to stretch to reach that 17th is eeeeevil.

    • @RickLandGuitar
      @RickLandGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtyMartyD also, make sure that you’re fretting the 10th fret with your first finger at the very edge of your fret, like almost directly on the fret (as far as it will go and still ring clean) that cm closer makes a bigger difference in stretch licks like this

    • @ArtyMartyD
      @ArtyMartyD 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RickLandGuitar Oof that sounds really hard to do and still remember to use further down the line.

    • @RickLandGuitar
      @RickLandGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArtyMartyD good guitar playing is about good habits, force yourself to do it for a few weeks and before you know it you’re doing it like that naturally. The worst advice teachers give their students is “aim for the middle of the fret” good fretting is done at the edge. Hope this all helps!

    it's not enough distortion. Use tube screamer or something
