It's about becoming successful in your own right by picking yourself up after an unfortunate circumstance, working hard, bringing your family in, taking an idea, creating a business and not looking for someone or something to bail you out. Great job Rainman, love the Wife Unit design.
    FYI on a 4.0.
    1) At 36 minutes the belt is routed different from when you removed it, but it works.
    2) Dash gauge signal is from the sensor located on the rear of the cylinder head, the PCM gets its signal from the sensor in the thermostat housing. That's why your seeing a difference between the dash and the hand held.
    3) That plug on the firewall is the connector ODB1 tool, you should also find one in the wiring harness that goes over the transmission by the gas pedal. This is called out on a signal line print.
    4) These 4.0 are notorious for vapor locking during a radiator fill.

    Book states that sealer should be applied to the upper left bolt on the water pump because it goes through the block casting into the water jacket.

    • @jpcallan97225
      @jpcallan97225 ปีที่แล้ว

      More than just that one!! Our 96 4.0 in a Grand Cherokee has several pump bolt holes that go through into the water jacket, several of the front cover bolts also penetrate the water jacket. Same with the thermostat housing. The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Service Manual is silent on sealing these bolts to prevent corrosion and to keep coolant out of the oil in the case of the front cover bolts. The book "Jeep 4.0 Engines: How to Rebuild and Modify (Sa Design)" by Larry Shepard is likewise silent the necessity of sealing these bolts. I use Permatex Thread Seal + Lock Compound with good results.

  • @Sandmansa
    @Sandmansa ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I'm glad to see that you got the go-ahead to fix the cooling system problems. But I have one question Ray. What stopped you from using the coolant sensor that was pre-installed on the upper radiator hose? My past experience with Hayden fan systems with temp sensors that are installed between the cooling fins of the radiator, are nowhere near as accurate as sensors that are actually in the coolant flow. Yeah, they work in a pinch. But the accuracy is drastically affected by rain, snow and high winds.

    Speaking of Jeeps, my brother has an 06 Jeep Cherokee and his rear end just blew up on the way back home from visiting the in laws for Thanksgiving. It was making a weird noise but he just ignored it. I just installed a tensioner pulley and belt for him. His old plastic pulley locked up and he barely got home with no belt and a dying battery. Now he's gotta use his wife's Chrysler 200 to get to work.
