    Hi wonderful video ! How was this spread out over 9 days ? I am planning a trip to Japan including half in Kyushu and this would be quite helpful.

    Nice to see pics from Kyushu! Miayzaki is great, famous meat like chicken and beef, and also seafood. Kagoshima is also pretty with very good sake. Saga prefecture also have good beef and vegetables. We lived for years in Nakasu, Fukuoka, which is also a very good city for food, home of the spicy mentaiko. And ramen which is now a craze all over Japan and the world. We lived next to the Ichiran ramen HQs, (the smell on the back side where the fans came out was not very nice, cooking pork bones for 24 h :-)). Kumamoto and the castle are nice, also Nagasaki but the latter is very hilly. Very few bicycles in Nagasaki. Yes, many places in "rural" Japan close early, even in larger cities. Chinatown in Nagasaki was closed at 9 pm when we were there the last time. So, tourists, be prepared, but Lawson and 7/11 are great alternatives, as you say. Sorry you did not get to eat at the yatais in Fukuoka, but you said it was Golden week, ne? There are more yatais in Tenjin and on Showa-Dori, less crowded. Normally you can always get a seat also in Nakasu. And do not worry, there are free, public toilettes just nearby, cleaner than the Sheraton. Arigato!

    I feel like we, the people, deserve a 10hr vid of you covering the variety of your fav chicken recipes.(Not being not serious.)
    Also, amazing trip!
    Missing Japan quite a bit, so I really appreciated the views.
    Stay blessed! ^_^/

      We went in beginning of May! The weather was pretty nice, I recommend spring! Summer is hot for sure, I’d just be wary of rainy season

      summer in Kyushu can be very hot and humid. Many days I took a shower and put on clean clothes and walked 3 minutes outside and was soaked in sweat! Had to go into some shop I was not interested in but for their AC. Spring or autumn or even winter is better. But it can rain anytime. Taifuns are from July and September. I recommend October, it is not cold. In my years in Fukuoka I bicycled all year around, maybe had a scarf and a air of thin gloves.

    I'm thinking about going to Japan for the 2nd time in my life either 2025 or 2026. Wanted to visit Hiroshima/Kyushu region but I don't know where to start.

    • @mikaellarsson7932

      I recommend Fukuoka as a base and many flights to there are quite cheap. It is an amazing city with great food. You can travel to other places in Kyushu by train or bus like Yanagawa, Kumamoto, Nagasaki etc. Also shinkansen all the way down to Kagoshima, but it is a bit pricey. Also the JR red buses from there are cheap to Hiroshima and do not take too long, very comfy. My advice is to plan Fukuoka, preferably an old style hotel in Yakuin or Shirogane, then your trips to Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Yanagawi etc. I lived many years in Fukuoka, it is my fav town in Japan.

    I’ve been considering a move to Japan for a long time, assuming my wife and two kids and I could all make it work. Fukuoka is probably where I would choose. Thanks for making me want to go there now with the gorgeous shots. I need to get my wife eating chicken again.

    Did you just say the Jidori is like a charcoal roasted chicken? You are plain wrong. The kanji for Jidori is 地鶏, which literally meant local chickens. Check out wiki for the meaning.

    • @elanneboake
      @elanneboake  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi, I don't think I'm PLAIN wrong. I was simply explaining what you can expect to be served if you order "Jidori" or "Jitokko" in Miyazaki-- I'm not going to argue the literal translation of the word

    I'm sorry, but your comment that you need to rent a car to see Kyushu is just silly. Trains and the odd bus will get you to most of the major sites with the major exception of the gorge of course. We are just about to start a month long trip to Kyushu where we will be visiting Fukuoka, Dazaifu, Karatsu, Saga (with sidetrips by train using that as a base), Takeo, Arita, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Mt Aso, Beppu, Yufuin, Kitsuki, Nakatsu, Yabakei (by bus from Nakatsu), Kitakyushu, and ending in Fukuoka where we started and trains to all of them except where noted by bus. So, sorry, it's just silly for you to have said public transport just isn't adequate to get around Kyushu. Trains will get you to most places with only a few exceptions.

    • @elanneboake
      @elanneboake  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah it’s possible to get around Kyushu with busses. But because our trip is short I said that to make the most of our time we rented a car. it IS possible to travel by bus I never denied that

    • @mikaellarsson7932
      @mikaellarsson7932 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      agree. I lived in Fukuoka for many years and travelled all over Kyushu. We have a car, but sometimes it is much easier and even cheaper to go by bus or train. Public transports are excellent in Kyushu. I understand what Elanne is saying though that for a shorter trip a car is better. Why do you go to Kitakyushu by the way? :-))

      Hi , I can't drive due to driving license not permitted in Japan.
      So glad that bus or train can cover. But I'm so confused to gather about the information , can you give more details.
      All i see is using tour..
