    Oh my goodness, Kramer getting up to his introduction on cue. Precious.
    In some ways it feels like you've been building this van forever, but then it also feels like "you're done already?????!!!!!"

      @chrisandsara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kramer is a natural on camera! 😂 and we feel the same way. Like it’s felt like the longest year and a half ever but at the same time it’s flown by! Where has the time gone?!

    Hi Chris and Sara, 2 questions that I believe you might be able to answer that never get addressed- 1. Are all of your build out costs somehow covered on your insurance policy in the case of a total loss? If so, how? 2. Do you have any concerns about voiding the warranty on your Sprinter with some of the system modifications made- namely the leveraging of the fuel system for the heater, and the electrical system for charging the house batteries? Thanks in advance for the info. Love the channel, keep up the great content.

    I'm so excited😃 Been waiting for this treat. Love the streamlined everything including the shower, though you know us older folks prefer privacy TP time🤣
    Was wondering if you guys got the additional DC alternator to your insane battery bank. Don't remember you mentioning anything like that. But seriously Sunny is the perfect off road boondocking van home! Kim says our mini cooper "Pepper" wants to meet Sunny Lol.
    Sending Best Wishes and Blessings, James and Kim & Shea Shea

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😂the toilet setup has brought our marriage to a whole new level of closeness. lol We didn't add an extra DC alternator because typically we find ourselves at developed campgrounds often enough to plug into shore power before the battery bank runs out. The power lasts far longer than the water does in our van. :) Looking forward to the day when Sunny and Pepper can finally meet!

  • @fafnorcal

    Congratulations on completing the van. It looks fabulous. You have done an amazing job of meeting all your requirements in a van that is surely easier to drive and park than your first van. The upgrades from the original van shine through; clearly you put a lot of thought and lessons learned into the second build. Will be interested to hear more reports on just how well the electrical system performs for you, especially in running the air conditioning and in keeping the batteries topped up. I'm glad to hear you had some helpful sponsorships on this build. May you enjoy every day in this van in good health.

    Beautiful Van Conversion and walkthrough video!! I love your van!! Couple questions: 1. Could you have installed taller over head cabinets & would u if you did it again? 2. With the depth of the door box and tire would you rather go back to a 177? Now that you have had both lengths, it would be great for you to do a video pros/cons video of both. I love MT, let us know how your road trip and visit to different states is going!!

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much, we love it so far! Great questions, Yes we could have installed larger overhead cabinets and we wish we would have. More than height though, I wish we had more depth to the cabinets. The back box can be removed if we want to, but even with the back box we're still a lot shorter than the longer sprinter vans. Even with the back box and spare tire mount we still fit well in one parking space.

    Great job, guys! I guess Sara has to wear a striped shirt and overalls in EVERY van tour video from now on! Haha. I am most curious about the AC and if you can run it if you don’t have 800 amp hours of lithium batteries. That is amazing, by the way!

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      😂😂😂 right?! It wasn’t planned at ALL but the weather got cold and all I had was overalls so we ran with it! Lol it’s my signature look now. 💁🏼‍♀️ the AC is super efficient and I would venture to say you could definitely run it on a much smaller battery bank. Of course it depends on how often you plan to plug into shore power and/or other methods of power you have charging your battery bank. ☺️

    Take a look at the CA Vans Lagun table mount (console table). It would allow you to use th table for your bench, between the front seats or for the passenger seat when turned around.

    Love the van! Little worried about your batteries. They look like they are just strapped in. On dirt roads they could come loose or bounce up,etc. Please look into a more rigid battery holders if you haven’t already. My friends van burnt to the ground due to something similar! Also maybe get some covers for the positive terminal.

    I have an idea for you. Make a square shower curtain rod above the bench shower, enclosing it.. When you are done showering, slide the curtain back to the side behind drivers sear, and put outside of the box. So you don't have to put up each time.

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ooo! That's a good idea!! Thanks, Sylvia! We might look into that if this curtain is driving us crazy in a few months. 😅

    • @saratemp790
      @saratemp790 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisandsara Yeah you would have to make like a J shaped, square rod. The tall side of J you attach to the roof at the corners. And the shorter side of J, you use to slide the curtain hooks around. Anyway, hard to describe, but I'm sure you could figure out a way.

    Lots of neat ideas and products. I may try to duplicate your bathroom in my 2019 170 4x4. Already have Victron, Battleborn, Espar and MaxxFan installed. Will be interested in a long term report on the AC. Thanks for sharing!

    Looking forward to what's in store for you guys! And I appreciate the honesty on the cost/sponsorships. It's easy to get discouraged when you're just starting out (I've just purchased a 2008 wagon with 270k miles for weekends as a stopgap to a larger van) and it's helpful to know there are various sizes of stepping stones :)

    Hello from Montana! Beautiful van build! Brilliant bedside controls. I've been thinking about going with Nomidic Cooling AC too on my Sportsmobile. I appreciate that they use the 14x14 opening size as opposed to the Dometic that requires you to do additional cutting of the roof. Happy Adventures!

    Great build! What are the boxes in the garage built out of? I did rewind and I still couldn’t catch it. “80/20 *something* aluminum…like building erector sets”. I couldn’t find a link. Thanks.

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! So sorry about that. Most people just refer to it as 80/20 which is one of the brand names. It’s also referred to extrusion aluminum. This is where we purchased ours: www.framingtech.com
      We used the 1.5” style. Framing tech has a much faster turnaround time than the official 80/20 place. Hope this helps! 😊

    Your shower idea is pretty much exactly what I want to do with mine. Except I want it to be a sitting shower so I don't have to mess with a curtain. I'm trying to come up with a way to be able to telescope up the sides of the shower box, so I can still wash my hair without spraying the van. Lol!

      Hey Morgan! Thanks so much! That's actually one of the most popular questions we're getting right now so we'll be sure to talk about that in the FAQ video. In short, we used screws and they're visible but we were very intentional about countersinking them + covering them with a bit of trim. :)
