Sūrat al-Falaq (Arabic: سورة الفلق ) (Dawn, Daybreak) is the 113th sura of the Qur'an. It is a brief five verse invocation, asking Allah for protection from the evil of Satan. Together with Surat al-Nas it is also known as Al-Mu'awwidhatayn.
Introduction
This early Meccan sura provides the antidote to superstition and fear by teaching us to seek refuge in Allah from every kind of ill arising from outer nature and from dark and evil plottings.
Arabic text, transliteration and translation
Arabic:
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ١
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ٢
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ٣
وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ ٤
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ٥
Transliteration: Bismillahir ramanir rahim
1 Qul audhu bi rabbil falaq
2 Min sharri ma khalaq
3 Wa min'sharri ghasiqin idha waqab
4 Wa min'sharrin naffa thati fil u'qad
5 Wa min'sharri hasidin idha hasad
Translation: You, the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] pronounce, "I seek protection with the Sustainer Lord of the First Created "Noor"-Visible Light, [113:01]
from the disquiet, disequilibrium and disconcert momentarily emerging from that which He has created; [113:02]
and from the disquiet/irritation/trouble and disconcert caused by the Darkening Chiller when it has entered and blackened [frostbite]; [113:03]
and from the disquiet, emotional incitation and destabilization by the enchanting and fascinating whispers and inspiration in/regarding the solemn pledges and undertakings; [113:04]

Conventional Arabic to English translation:
1. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of Daybreak
2. From the evil of what He has created
3. From the evil of darkness when it overspreads
4. And from the evil of malignant witchcraft,
5. From the evil of the envious when he envies
