(Elle lui remet une petite bourse)

(hésitant)

Et puis... encore une autre chose
qui vaut mieux que l'argent!
et qui, pour un bon fils
aura sans doute plus de prix.

Cette autre chose, quelle est-elle?
Parle donc...

Oui, je parlerai.
Ce que l'on m'a donné,

Votre mère avec moi sortait de la chapelle,
et c'est alors qu'en m'embrassant:

I saw Isobel in the Australian Opera production of CARMEN around this period of time. I will never forget her glorious voice. What a great Micaela she made.

I think Isobel Buchanan's Micaela the most beautiful I have ever seen or heard . Isobel's voice was So Fresh , crystal clear , all her expressions and body language of an inocent naive young girl . Wonderful her starring with Placido Domingo a great actor as well as singer . For me Isobel Buchanan completely stole the show . I waited a long time to find a recording I have the opera on both VHS and DVD . Thank you so much ddurbinfan !!!

I am so pleased to hear this performance of Isobel. I met Isobel a year or two prior to this performance when she was first introduced to Australian audiences. Isobel sang Pamina in the Magic Flute with the Australian Opera at this time. We at the Sydney Conservatorium Opera School enjoyed the pleasure of Isobel's company at several of our musical soirees at the time. An exquisite voice, personality and nature to match.

If you've never heard the story of how she first came to work with Domingo is this opera, it's really worthwhile hearing. Isobel students - ask her about it - it's a great story.

You lucky people to study with Isobel Buchanan , her voice is so beautiful . I understand she has a choir and that she changed to mezzo soprano and has not sung in opera since .
I belive she was on the brink of becoming a very great operatic star , but the life can be very nerve racking and demanding , being on a plane , in a hotel , among strangers far from home all the time . The best of wishes with your studies !!!
