Would you say that this is comparable to the underseat pro? Which one do you think holds more between the take off and underseat pro?
Lauren, girl, after watching this video, I ended up buying both his new bags (the 2.0 and 2.0 XL because we don’t really fly frontier that often. Too many delays) AND I purchased damn near all the accessories all because of this video. It all should be here on Wednesday. Wish me luck! 😊

I can think of two other reasons people might be interested in a bag like this. I never fly those budget airlines but Im in the market for a great personal item bag to hold as much as possible. Reason #1 regional jets. Often they will give you a free carry on but they have to check them all anyway because their overhead bins wont fit roller carry on bags. They dont charge you to check the carry on, but i dont want to risk losing my bag. Reason #2 overhead bin overcrowding. Carry ons are becoming more and more common with the lost luggage issues and that means overhead bin space is going fast. Often, the overheads are full midway through the boarding process, and everyone else has to check their carry-on. There's even been fights over bin space. I dont want to have to worry if my bag is making it on or not. I decided to go with underseat pro for the laptop space, but this looks like a great bag. Love your videos!
Great video Lauren! I've heard that there is a class action suit against Frontier for their sizing shenanigans. Allegedly the suit says the luggage fitters at check in are sized differently than at the gate, forcing passengers to pay at the gate. Super shady.
Yes I heard that as well! Hopefully they can get better!
I was wondering when they were going to get sued for undersized bag gauges. The sizers should be calibrated by the us department of weights and measurements, the luggage scales are. Just 2 wrongly charged personal items per flight is roughly 2.5 million dollars in extra fees per month for frontier.
I almost pulleed my trigger, but I don’t like the new Take off Lugguage removed the mesh compartment. Sometimes you just need that comparment to store smaller items.
Finally, someone actually says whether or not there's gonna be a problem if you put the wheels back on when you get on the jet way thank you!!
I always put them back on! I feel like the people that work on the jet bridge and on the plane have no idea if you paid for carry-on or not
I have the OG takeOFF and I want to love it but for a $100+ bag here is the major issues: 1) cheap zippers that break easily, 2) not the wheels but the attach points on the bottom of the bag break (they wobble and don't hold well to the luggage after just 3 trips), wheels are OK but not great on carpet.
My reason I will not by the new one is because the new black lining...who wants super dark lining on luggage?!? Make it gray or neon so it's easy to see inside in dimly lit hotel rooms.
And it doesn't look like they have fixed the attachment point on the bottom of the bag.
I'd love to be a tester for this company and help to make this the bag it should be because I belive it could be the world's best bag...but if they don't fix this soon someone else will and they will fade out fast.

I hate they removed the pockets. But I do like the "July" luggage re-design approach. That is what made me excited to purchase. But I was disappointed with the removed pockets. Trial and error. LOL

Really wish the travel clear plastic bag had a clip that could attach to the outside of luggage for easier use thru security. I keep looking for something.

I think I'm happy to have bought the 1.0 bag. The mesh pocket is very handy for small things. One thing I learned on our last trip. You can stuff the non expandable Takeoff bag so tight that the extendable handle will jam, but the zipper held like a champ 💪. It also still slipped into the Spirit sizer easily.

I know for example in Mexico Viva Aerobus weighs the luggage, and in El Salvador, Avianca also weighs the carry-on and personal items so these will come in clutch.

Ahh I just want to buy everything you review lol. I just took a Cebu pacific flight where I had to check in my monos hybrid carry on because it was over 7kg (there’s no way I’d be under that for a 2 week trip to the Philippines) so I had to lug around my monos duffel throughout the airport. it was so heavy, I wish I had wheels, which this take off luggage would be a great use case for. I could just use a luggage strap to secure it on top of my main suitcase when needed…
The slimpak backpack on their site, oh my. I think that is the how to bring your laptop and inflight accessible items with this. I think i would use it as a laptop bag for everyday, too! Thanks for another great review.
I have it. I kept it out of the video only because I didn’t get to use it as a spirit hack, but it is a nice slim bag!
I was going to sell my other luggage just to buy the take off but I don’t like how they took away the mesh pocket part and on the website they only have the expandable one with the mesh pocket which doesn’t fit frontiers bin I’m so upset but I still love the whole concept of the luggage tho hopefully they bring the mesh pocket back soon
I miss the pocket, too. But hopefully the non expandable will be back in stock soon.

New version looks way better minus the logo pattern on the inside. But still looks like a great option.
Personally, I prefer a convertible, backpack/duffel but if I did choose wheels ever again, it would be something like this!
My personal item carry-ons never weigh that much so I could see myself with a rigid/lightweight polycarbonate shell as a simple suitcase… old-school style.
But I like the idea of the pop off wheels, if anything, because if a wheel became damaged in your travels, you could rotate them so that you could pull it. Only my very expensive, very heavy Briggs and Riley had the option to remove an interchange the wheels.
I think you’re right about the inside mesh sleeve which they got rid of even though I am not a pockets person. Those mesh sleeves never take up space and you never know when you’ll have some thing, flat, or in my case sometimes I’ll flatpack a rain jacket even if I expect no rain it is always there if I need it.
All of the other improvements I think are wonderful! Glad takeoff his chosen you as an ambassador, so we will always see these improvements or new innovations first!! 👏 👏 👏
everytime i see a new video i cant decide which to get lol😊 ty for comparing all upgrades! can you do a comparison between this new takeoff, the heys airlite and the travelers choice and underseat pro so we can see which are carryon that can pass as underseat personal for domestic or international by size and weight?
I have my top carry on’s of 2023 coming out at the end of November. But take off and underseat pro is either a large personal item or a small carry on, I wouldn’t put it in the same category as the others.

This looks cute (love the pink!) and nice, but where do you put your laptop and/or iPad or headphones? Is it difficult to take those items out during flight?
If you needed those in flight and we’re traveling personal item only, I would just take them out once you’re at your seat, before you take off. My laptop was in there when i flew, but I didn’t use it on the plane, just at the airport/at my destination.
I always have a hidden waist bag with my essentials in it, that I wear under my cardigan. (I have a video when I flew with it)
How does the suitcase roll? One of my biggest concerns with take off luggage is the wheels are not as smooth rolling as others, which would make it hard to use it when you are traveling.
They are great. In my first review, I even tested the wheels on cobblestone.

I was wondering- between this Take Off 2.0 luggage & the July Light Carry On, which do you like better? I own the July Light & love how light it is- I do wish the trolly was less flimsy feeling & was more like the classic July’s trolly). I also worry sometimes about it being too heavy & falling over with a big person bag on top of it (I haven’t traveled with mine yet, but just bc it’s more narrow I feel like it could tip over & is less sturdy than the classic July style). So I’m wondering if this bag feels comparable (besides the take off wheels🤗) to the July Light. Does it fit the same amount? Etc.

Also one thing I noticed that this one has that they took off of the July Light is the second handle that is on the side of the luggage. I like how this one has that, so you can carry it like a briefcase if you wanted. That’s one feature I miss on the July Light, that I didn’t think I would miss🤗.

I looked at the slim bag as well. It’s marked down so I’m wondering if they’re phasing it out. Perhaps they have an updated version waiting in the wings.
I actually had it in this video, but I took it out. It’s meant to hide under your clothes, but it didn’t work well for me 😂

I respect your comment but I have to say Frontier is not "robbing" you by offering you a $38 ticket and then giving you the OPTION to pay for a carry on bag. That is their business model. That's like saying a movie theater is robbing you by charging $10 for popcorn. Companies like Take Off are great, but Frontier is not robbing anyone by offering the public airline tickets that cost less than a tank of gas for a car 🤣 There is nothing stopping them from changing the carry on size limit; which I'm sure will happen if these bags gain meaningful market share or that lawsuit settles. United is already 17"x10"x9" but no one talks about it because the United ticket price includes a carry on too.

For clarification, I meant more in regards to how they treat people at the gate and the shady practices of having one check in place slightly smaller that another, or if somebody’s carrying their jacket to literally try to charge them $100 until the person just put the jacket on and continues on their way… stuff like that. There’s good reasons why there’s a class action lawsuit against them.
However, beyond that, totally agree. I know full well that there’s no such thing as a free lunch and that my $38 ticket comes with the possibility of being charged extra, especially if I’m not careful. And I have no problem with that because I would rather benefit from that cheaper airline tickets and just pack lighter.

@@ItsTheKellys UPDATE!!!! Just boarded the plane in Denver to come home to NC. This bag was a life saver, especially with compression cubes!!!! IT WORKED and they never batted an eye!
Also, small hack I learned for Frontier I want to pass on…I had a few extra items that I got on my trip that wouldn’t fit…put them in a bag from a gift shop next to my gate, they let me walk on with it, no questions!
How often when flying internationally have you have your carry on weighed? When I got to India, LAX never weighs it when I leave. But the Indian airports do when I return. 2 weeks ago Air France was weighing everyone’s at multiple checkpoints.
Out of my 8 years of consistent travel and over 88 countries, I’ve only been weighed twice. One coming home from Paris (Air France) and one domestic flight in Australia.

No, international airlines require much smaller personal items, sometimes backpacks are even too big.

@elmrkm Neither brand complies with Aer Lingus’ personal item size, which is 13 inches x 10 inches x 8 inches. Both the UNDERSEAT PRO and the TakeOff measure 18 inches x 14 inches x 8 inches.
@@one.bag.nation yes, these are personal item hacks for spirit and frontier, because they charge for carry ons. I would never recommend taking this as a personal item in addition to a carry on.
@@one.bag.nation Thanks for the lookout. These will actually be our carryon bags for Aer Lingus flight with a small crossbody for our personal item and we will check one bag. I did a ton of research on their website which is also how I discovered the 10kg limit even though initially I was informed it would be 15kgs. The weight limit is determined by where you flight out of. Leaving the U.S. 15 is fine however we have a layover in Dublin where the domestic flight limit of 10 will apply.

Yes, the wheels come in a drawstring bag.
I've put them in my pocket until I'm on the ramp to the plane and just reattached them. Pretty easy
when you packed those cubes, how many outfits for how long a trip were you able to get in there? That's awesome how it fit all that and looked like you could even squeeze in some other things around sides of those cubes! was there any long side inner zipper pocket ( I call it the pencil case pocket cause it's so awkwardly placed and floppy in luggage😅) near the hinge not that I really use it cause I feel like they get in the way but sometimes I'll stash small jewelry or currency in them
I just filled them with random things. But my medium size packing cube always holds my capsule wardrobe, and I can do any length trip with that.
I saw some other of your videos and I just received the previous takeoff model yesterday. Are you saying I will not be able to use it for Frontier now? Should I return it and get the new model?
Frontier is a huge guessing game. People have had luck and people haven’t. They are in the middle of a lawsuit right now Because of their “rules” that they make up on the spot.
This bag was definitely designed to help hack frontier, so if you fly them often, I’d consider it?

I doubt I will. It’s the same, just a smidge larger. This one is frontier sized, that one is spirit sized. As simple as that.

Is there any way to figure out how much this holds via a Liter measurement? I'm trying to compare it with backpacks which usually talk about how many liters they hold.
My guess is around 25-35 liters, based on my other pieces

It appears underseat pro has 2 wheels vs 4 on take off. Underseat prohas trolley sleeve vs none on take off
First of all, I love this bag and seriously considering getting it. Second of all, I refuse to give a single old worn out, run over penny to any of those airlines. They are out of hand. I have heard nothing but horror stories about flying them and I will pay more not to have to deal with that BS. It’s like modern highway robbery.
Frontier has gotten out of hand for sure. When it comes to bags, I don’t mind Spirit. They have the rules and as long as you follow them, it’s fine. They will work with you to help you, usually. But frontier makes up their own rules.

the only thing i never understand would it make it easier to only have 2 wheels on the back where the telescopic handle to make it 1. lighter 2. easier to maintain 3. maybe cheaper? 4. easier to put them away and this is a personal preference but i miss the old shiny logo the stamp on the front and i don't understand why they can not put bumpers on both sides. but thats it i love this suit case and i love to use it.
If you have two wheels, you would need something on the front to balance it out when it’s not on an angle, and that would take up more inches from the bag.

I need a bag “with wheels” to carry my content creator electronics. My backpack is getting too heavy on my back. This seems perfect bc I can still have my regular carry on and use this as a personal item.

As long as the airline is within 18x14x8 then yes! But I would definitely get a cincha travel belt to attach it so that you don’t have to wheel both. Look at the underseat pro, too. It’s the same size, and has a trolley sleeve and a laptop compartment (they just launched a new version in my review for it comes out Saturday)

I got the version one after seeing your original video and haven't used it yet. Is there any point in trying to use the original version or is it going to be too big or something?
The new version has a tiny bit better measurements to slide in the bin better, and a smoother finish to slide in better. But a lot of people like the inside of the first one better :)
I really like these bags but getting in-flight items out could be a problem
I wear a sneaky little slim bag under my shirt with my wallet and passport and phone in it :) just get it past the gate agent and you can have it out on the flight

I only take them off to pass thru the gate for about 1 minute. Then I put them back on! Just has to pass the 1 little test

This isn’t meant to be a personal item for the airlines that allow free carry on’s, it’s meant for a hack for the ones that make you pay for one.
Sadly too large for Air Canada (13x6x17in) & Westjet (16x6x13 in) personal item sizes
Yes it’s not meant for those. These were made as a hack for the airlines that charge for carry ons, or people that want small lightweight luggage.
