Struggled with error 5021 for hours. The solution I found: Installing the game in my c:/ I did tried to install it in other disc on my PC but i read there are some bugs with Samsung ssd.
Wow this fixed it for me. Thank god I didnt need to change drives. Just simply deleting the LIVE folder works. I bet they hard-coded the creation of the LIVE folder in the install process, and did not program an exception if LIVE already exists.
another tip make sure you go into the download settings and update the install of the game location not the launcher and then click verify, it should start downloading. hope this helps
What worked for me was to exit the launcher, delete the StarCitizen folder from C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\ and then restart the launcher and install.
this is whats happening for me too, just bought the game but I only have an ssd so I can't switch to another drive, might need to reset the whole pc other stuff isn't working like can't type in windows serchbar and can't open GeForce, idk lol this is annoying
I did a factory reset of my pc like a month ago, but I still had the issue. I doubt it would fix the problem, but at the same time a reset isn't a bad idea to fix the other problems if u haven't done one in a while or ever.
@@thomasmeaney1846 I would try everything else first, but unfortunately that's all I see at the moment. I also am not 100% sure that this solution will work for everyone.

i think there is another fix if u delete the live folder in the star citizen folder
