My buddy was in LA a couple years ago and found an original print of a massive John Carpenter "Starman" poster for $75 and bought it for me. It was such a lovely treat. Then I got the idea that maybe if I sent John the poster, he'd sign it. Didn't wanna tell my friend cuz I thought it'd suck if it never came back to me. I took the chance and sent it off. After about 3 months, I figured it wasn't coming back. Then not too long after that, I got a tube in the mail, and JC had signed it, "To Kyle". Pretty fuckin' awesome. Had it framed in a super nice frame that matches the colors in the poster and now it's hanging in my studio. One of my most prized possessions.
Oh, plus I threw in a tiny 11x17 "The Thing" poster with it, he signed that too. Haven't found the time to frame it yet, but I will. Coolest director of all time, imo!

A living legend and hearing him now that he wants to just play video games is amazing. I would love to watch an interview with John Carpenter talking about Video Games. That would be awesome.

Cameron, Spielberg, Scott and many other recognized as great directors, but the fella right here is arguably the best of them all.
Carpenter's resume doesn't lie. And most are low budget movies, and when he was backed by a big studio he made an unmatched masterpiece, The Thing.

Our very first emotion we feel is fear. That's why we come out crying, and not laughing. We.ve left the comfort of the womb to be expelled into a very scary world. Horror movies can tap into this universal fear, of what is life, and the world in general.
Also, could an interviewer ask him what modern / recent directors , writers, musicians, and artists he likes NOW TODAY.

    • @m1lst3r89

There is no tangible proof that fear is the first emotion we feel. That comes later in life.

"Creating computer generated images is a lot of work. It's as much work as creating a rubber monster." - John Carpenter
And a tiny part of a million Carpenter fans just died.

It is really hard to make 3D, because there are layers to it such as:
      1. Concept and Storyboards
      2. 3D Modelling
      3. Texturing
      4. Rigging
      5. Animation
      6. Lighting
      7. Camera Setting
      8. Rendering
      9. Compositing and Special VFX
Even though I love and miss practical effects. There are pretty good 3D effects like in Jurrasic Park, effects that hold up to this day. It just depends on the studio. Nice of him to kinda give animators their props. Even a bad 3D animation take days.

jc is kinda tired of all the praise he gets today. Just too bad and must be kind of a bummer that his work frightened the bejesus out of so many kids and is only now getting the recognition it deserved waaaaay back in the day. Similar to all the great dead artists that live on loooong after they're gone. Just hand him the cheque cause he can't really give a fuck today - and i cant blame him. Just sayin

I think it kinda gets boring to him, listening to all the people telling him he is great. That would bore anyone. Plus, he is old now and naturally a bit cantankerous.
