I can't remember whether it was the "stage 2" or "stage 3" exhaust mod, but I had something like this done probably a decade ago. It's definitely a deeper growl than stock. It's funny, because I matched it up with the same chrome staggered tips with the A-Spec bumper. Good lookin' car.

Generally all the TL's will sound the same. I have the 06 3.2L. Type S (3.5L) may sound slightly more aggressive. If you're okay with the more conservative sound, but louder than stock with no rasp, then definitely go for it!

Thanks man, much appreciated. Not sure the measurement for that straight pipe. The exhaust shop did all the cutting and welding. I'm sure if you want to get other pipe welding, you can cut the exhaust to size. But I do know the mid muffler is fairly short

Thank you for the kind words. Those look very similar. Measurements are the same. Like I said in the video, install may vary. Mines had to be installed slightly rotated, or else it would rubbed against the bumper
I see that car seat back there. I got one in my TL too lol. I think this exhaust setup is great, louder than stock, but not as loud as that ludicrously priced cat back. Do you still have the stock mufflers just with custom tips??
Hey man. I just got this done to mine. I accidentally got the dynomax 24215 resonator instead of the 24235. Did yours have a break in period? Mine is very quiet. Much quieter than it seems to be in your video. Im unsure if the different resonator makes that much of a difference.
There's no break in period. It shouldn't be too different. And videos aren't the best way to judge how loud it is. It's really just a mild upgrade in sound. I only really hear it when I'm WOT or downshifting. When cruising, or light on the gas, you won't hear much (which is what I LIKE). Most people complain that it's too quiet. BUT that's the whole purpose of this stage 3 exhaust mod. quiet when cruising, but louder than stock when on throttle

I personally think the dynomax resonator Is maybe if any just a tad bit louder...not enough to justify the 40 bucks u spend and then pay some1 to install. I posted a terrible video on my channel. The quality of the video is horrible but u can hear the sound pretty good. I'm getting the dynomax mini race bullet resonator put on next week. I believe it the dynomax 24250. Haven't seen one video with a TL so cross your fingers it not to raspy. I'm almost stage 3 but I took the dynomax off and went back stock. Needless to say I was hella disappointed. Not looking for subscribers just check it out if u r intrested
Main purpose to mod the resonator is to help with the rasp. It's debatable, but I love it the whole stage 3 mod. Everyone has different tastes tho. I prefer a more conservative exhaust. Plus my kid can still sleep in the car lol. Did you remove the mid muffler?

I'm looking at getting an 05 TL soon. Would those tips you got fit in the stock diffuser ports or would you recommend not changing the tips if you don't have that type of splitter you have?
the exhaust tips BARELY fit with my stock setup. It needed to be at a small angle to not rub. But I don't have a link where to get it (been over 3 years since i bought it). My recommendation is the tips first, then diffuser. Diffuser can be easily adjusted/replaced
ok no shade, love the sound ... but what the hell is a "Stage 3" that classified this for an exhaust? You discussed 3 cats, a pre-muffler and resonator, should this in terms to be a "stage 5"? I really don't get the young crowds terminologies with talking in stages instead of just saying "We are replacing the resonator and pre-muffler"
Glad you're being honest. And honestly, I don't get why it's called a Stage 3 either lol. But that's what the TL community calls it. Stage 1 is OEM. Stage 2 is modding the mid muffler, Stage 3 is modding the resonator. At least that's what I think it is..

It's been a long time since i've had this setup. So I don't remember well. But it what I can say.. it's more of a mild setup. A couple steps above an OEM setup. But still sounds very nice and tame. No drone from what I remember

Does it drone much on highway speeds/ or if it does around what speeds/rpms. I like the way this sounds, but i really dont want to drone me out on the highway.
This is honestly (imo) the best mod that you can do, to the oem system, to have more sound without drone. At low rpms, I don't hear it much but more than oem. At higher rpms, it is definitely louder than stock with no drone. I personally daily it with city and highway driving and I has never bothered me. Not too loud and never raspy

I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a full exhaust system for a daily driver that only cost me 3,200.Finally back in a TL after losing my 05' a year ago to a deer after 5.5 years of ownership. I just wanted to explore options for a better-sounding exhaust note that wasn't going to be obnoxious at highway speeds etc. I was pretty unsure what to do, as there are a plethora of options. My Tl type s 6 speed is not too smooth at 1 2 and 3rd acceleration or deceleration, feels like having a trailer hitting the car every time i let go the gas pedal and when accelerating the car feels wanting to go
How a car sounds can be subjective. But I'm guessing it could depend on if the car is SOHC/DOHC and V-Tec/Non V-Tec, along with what exhaust setup the car is running
I assume it says that because it's not direct bolt on or not made for the TL. Either way, it has to be welded on. Many TL owners have done this mod with that exact part. So no need to worry if it says it doesn't fit

I have no idea what you're asking. Please use proper punctuation. If it's raspy, I can't tell you what the issue is without hearing it. You can ask an exhaust shop what they would recommend instead of throwing money at it. Stage 3 exhaust mod shouldn't make the exhaust raspy
@@thecarfiend11 well I mean on the stock system but putting the cutout before the mufflers would give you the option for stock or muffler deleted sound if im not mistaken but I don't know if it would be better before or after the mid muffler
@@ImLiterally.Him. i have an electric cutout right where the stock resonator would be. that’s it. everything else is still there and stock. i love it. it gives a nice deep smooth and throaty sound. just be careful on which cutout you get if your lowered. certain ones have a box that hangs down some and if you scrape it it will break., happened to me twice but i love the sound
I did this to my 2008 base tL with k&n typhoon intake. Dynomax res and mid delete. I do need more driving sound vs rev. I’m thinking magnaflow. Anyone have this setup with magnaflow rear. I’ll post my sound
First off, exhaust shops will have different rates. With that being said, the whole stage 3 exhaust mod cost me roughly $300 (from what I remember). Including parts and Stainless Steel piping

Was there any particular reason you went the way you did? Seems like both mods are legit and would give approx the same sound result.
I got them second hand off my local classifieds. But you can get them brand new off tuner sites. I would recommend Fitment Industries, they have the exact model and size of my Konigs

It's really on you. You can straight pipe first and see how you feel. The amount of rasp might be small. But you'll definitely be louder with that Mid muffler removed
You probably mean "What" instead of "White". I have a universal fit from ebay. "S4Play Diffuser" was what I bought, but any will do. Just need to retrofit it on

I just got the mid muffler deleted and it sounds good at like 2k-3k rpm or whenever stepping on it. I did notice the difference but it’s still quiet though I’m just going to do the Stage 3 exhaust since I’m sure I’ll end up liking it. Is it loud inside the cabin with the stage 3 exhaust? Last thing I want is not being able to hear my music inside my car because the exhaust is too loud
It's actually not loud in the cabin at all. I barely hear the exhaust, but that could be due to the good sound insulation of the TL, as said in the video. Windows down, I definitely here it roar. And if my GF drives it, I can def here it from inside the house haha
TheCarFiend would you recommend this dynomax over the 24215? I bought the 24215 but I feel like it would be too loud especially once it breaks in. Will the 24235 be more quiet once it breaks in? I just don’t want it to sound like the oem resonator if I go with the 24235.
Im not exactly sure. But in theory the other resonator should be a bit quieter. Could just do the mid muffler delete and not touch the resonator and see how you feel

No difference in power really. Mildly louder from the outside and inside. But NO rasp at all. I actually like cruising with the windows down to hear the exhaust sound lol. Not rice at all

Honestly, I don't know. Either way, you won't notice because it's barely noticeable. In theory, it should increase HP because you remove a restriction in the exhaust system
It's a combination of both to make it sound this way. Just replacing the mid muffler will make it louder, but most likely more raspy. The dynomax resonator helps baffle the sound more than oem
Not sure. You don't touch the Cat converter, so It should be okay. Laws vary from State to State so I double check on that. Technically, you're still modifying an exhaust
Dude you contradict yourself, first saying you replaced with straight pipe @ 1:15 then saying you don’t want straight pipe @ 2:30 , you didn’t even link both parts you used, you just linked one of them and a replacement Smfh.
The U.S. has been more strict with modifying cars in general. You would have to check with your state laws. I hear some states can give you tickets if the decibel is over a certain amount, so that's something to be aware of. The stage 3 mod does nothing to emissions (no mods to cats or o2 sensors) so you should be okay in that aspect.

Guess I should have Checked the diameter. It was too big. 3¹/2 pipe wont fit. Back to square 1 with the stock resonator.

This is honestly (imo) the best mod that you can do, to the oem system, to have more sound without drone. At low rpms, I don't hear it much but more than oem. At higher rpms, it is definitely louder than stock with no drone. I personally daily it with city and highway driving and I has never bothered me. Not too loud and never raspy

I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a full exhaust system for a daily driver that only cost me 3,200.Finally back in a TL after losing my 05' a year ago to a deer after 5.5 years of ownership. I just wanted to explore options for a better-sounding exhaust note that wasn't going to be obnoxious at highway speeds etc. I was pretty unsure what to do, as there are a plethora of options. No problem. It's a nice sound over the quiet OEM, but not too loud like aftermarket exhausts. Enjoy!
My Tl type s 6 speed is not too smooth at 1 2 and 3rd acceleration or deceleration, feels like having a trailer hitting the car every time i let go the gas pedal and when accelerating the car feels wanting to go
Zac HK could be transmission or engine mounts pretty common also check tranny fluid
Shift solenoid could b clogged too. Just happened to my 04 🤦♂️
you also might wanna change 2nd and 3rd gear shift sensors

How a car sounds can be subjective. But I'm guessing it could depend on if the car is SOHC/DOHC and V-Tec/Non V-Tec, along with what exhaust setup the car is running

I assume it says that because it's not direct bolt on or not made for the TL. Either way, it has to be welded on. Many TL owners have done this mod with that exact part. So no need to worry if it says it doesn't fit

Me personally, I would go for 3 in. I think the TL's stock size piping is 2.5 in so anything close to that will pair up well

I have no idea what you're asking. Please use proper punctuation. If it's raspy, I can't tell you what the issue is without hearing it. You can ask an exhaust shop what they would recommend instead of throwing money at it. Stage 3 exhaust mod shouldn't make the exhaust raspy

Resonator's job is to eliminate that rasp. So it will definitely help

For this mod, it's definitely not necessary. Maybe for a straight pipe or something super loud. I'd say go for it, I'll definitely help with cops lol

@@ImLiterally.Him. i have an electric cutout right where the stock resonator would be. that’s it. everything else is still there and stock. i love it. it gives a nice deep smooth and throaty sound. just be careful on which cutout you get if your lowered. certain ones have a box that hangs down some and if you scrape it it will break., happened to me twice but i love the sound
I did this to my 2008 base tL with k&n typhoon intake. Dynomax res and mid delete. I do need more driving sound vs rev. I’m thinking magnaflow. Anyone have this setup with magnaflow rear. I’ll post my sound

First off, exhaust shops will have different rates. With that being said, the whole stage 3 exhaust mod cost me roughly $300 (from what I remember). Including parts and Stainless Steel piping

Was there any particular reason you went the way you did? Seems like both mods are legit and would give approx the same sound result.
I dont think it matters. Its just the placement of the resonator might be easier to weld. Sound should still be the same

Honestly not sure. Technically, you're not messing with emissions. and the sound is less dramatic than most aftermarket exhaust systems

You can do it Definitely. It will be louder, but might be raspy. Resonator helps reduce that reaspiness

It's really on you. You can straight pipe first and see how you feel. The amount of rasp might be small. But you'll definitely be louder with that Mid muffler removed

YES! Stock mufflers. I just cut off and welded some dual staggered tips. Those tips do nothing for sound, mainly just for looks

You probably mean "What" instead of "White". I have a universal fit from ebay. "S4Play Diffuser" was what I bought, but any will do. Just need to retrofit it on

I think you mean "shift" instead of "ship". If so, I did not do any mods for the shifter/clutch yet.

I didn't tune. You don't need to tune even if you have an aftermath exhaust. Tune does help to maximize performance/reliability though

Yeah. It's not made for our cars, which is why it says that. But the diameter of the piping is correct for the TL's exhaust

Will removing the mid muffler only sound any different? Do you recommend getting the mid muffler removed first and see if I like the sound or should I just go straight to the Stage 3 exhaust? Will it sound good on automatic because I have an 07 acura tl base model.
I just got the mid muffler deleted and it sounds good at like 2k-3k rpm or whenever stepping on it. I did notice the difference but it’s still quiet though I’m just going to do the Stage 3 exhaust since I’m sure I’ll end up liking it. Is it loud inside the cabin with the stage 3 exhaust? Last thing I want is not being able to hear my music inside my car because the exhaust is too loud
It's actually not loud in the cabin at all. I barely hear the exhaust, but that could be due to the good sound insulation of the TL, as said in the video. Windows down, I definitely here it roar. And if my GF drives it, I can def here it from inside the house haha
TheCarFiend would you recommend this dynomax over the 24215? I bought the 24215 but I feel like it would be too loud especially once it breaks in. Will the 24235 be more quiet once it breaks in? I just don’t want it to sound like the oem resonator if I go with the 24235.
Im not exactly sure. But in theory the other resonator should be a bit quieter. Could just do the mid muffler delete and not touch the resonator and see how you feel
But most people ( that don't like the mod), complain that it's a little too quiet still. Either you really like it or it's still too quiet

No difference in power really. Mildly louder from the outside and inside. But NO rasp at all. I actually like cruising with the windows down to hear the exhaust sound lol. Not rice at all

No adapters were needed. Exhaust shop was able to weld it

Not 100% sure. I'm in MA, emissions isn't as strict as Cali. But you aren't messing with the Cat or O2 sensor. I assume it's ok.

Honestly, I don't know. Either way, you won't notice because it's barely noticeable. In theory, it should increase HP because you remove a restriction in the exhaust system

Straight pipe the mid muffler. You can straight pipe instead of a resonator, but most likely will add noise and raspiness

It's a combination of both to make it sound this way. Just replacing the mid muffler will make it louder, but most likely more raspy. The dynomax resonator helps baffle the sound more than oem

Not sure. You don't touch the Cat converter, so It should be okay. Laws vary from State to State so I double check on that. Technically, you're still modifying an exhaust

I basically have the base model bumper lol. They barely fit. The tip does have to be slightly rotated to fit
I really don't think that the sound insulation on these cars are that good (of which I've owned 3). However, the 4th gen has way better insulation

The U.S. has been more strict with modifying cars in general. You would have to check with your state laws. I hear some states can give you tickets if the decibel is over a certain amount, so that's something to be aware of. The stage 3 mod does nothing to emissions (no mods to cats or o2 sensors) so you should be okay in that aspect.
