    oh my God! thank you sm for clarifying all of this! for the longest I'd try so hard not to sing from my throat- which for me meant not feeling anything in my throat while singing. 😭😭

    As a fellow vocal coach, I’m soooo thankful that someone with a high caliber life you finally said it. There are way too many misleading teachings around the singing world….
    And I come from a classical background where universities offer degrees…!!!seriously, I’m so tired of voice teachers say stuff like “breath with your belly” or “sing from your diaphragm”
    Please don’t ever stop preaching, you are so AMAZING❤️

      @@Marco_Fabian37 I think what they mean is there are a lot of wrong teachings in the musi world. Many vocal coaches teach to sing from your diaphragm which they mean bring the sound from your diaphragm and you shouldn’t feel anything in your throat. She’s thanking the vocal coach for giving her perspective of singing because she feels like it is correct. Supporting from your diaphragm and Singing from your diaphragm are 2 different things.

    • @Marco_Fabian37
      @Marco_Fabian37 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@lattethefrappe691 actually none of those are correct. The diaphragm is a major muscle of inhalation. We as singer sing on exhalation so the diaphragm doesn’t support the singing voice at all. It’s literally the abdominal muscles that provide support

    • @lattethefrappe691
      @lattethefrappe691 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Marco_Fabian37 In a way, yes but proper singing is supporting from the diaphragm because it uses the abdominal muscles to force air from your lungs to your voice.

    It always helped me to imagine my voice came straight out from where I was in my range - push low notes out of your pelvis, and high notes a few inches *above* your head. Helped me find support I didn't know I had and GREATLY increased my higher end of my range, because I was going for notes without tensing up as much:)

    When I’m singing best and most “freely” I only feel the core “support“ muscles, and my mouth forming the words at the lips… when I’m forcing, I feel it in my throat 🤷🏼‍♂️ Maestro Trimble on TH-cam an 84 year old tenor and coach describes having “nothing happening in the throat” also 🤔

    Im a new singer,
    Was a terrible singer my entire life,
    Till one day I woke up and everything just clicked, the way to engage my voice to hit the right keys (THANK YOU JESUS CHRIST 😂🙏🏽)
    And ever since then I’ve been growing as a vocalist, I’m a man, so my diaphragm and my natural voice is lower pitched, so lately I’ve been working on getting out of that comfort zone,
    Adding more power, and higher pitch keys to my practices, and because of it, I’ve felt my Vocal Muscles becoming sore, which i thought was a good thing because, well it’s a muscle that’s getting used to tightening the air waves, but google said soreness of your vocal chords means your singing wrong, so I was confused for a second 😂
    Should the muscle feel overworked when stretching your chords or is it a bad thing?

    I would have to disagree with you on this. Just because your vocal chords are in your throat doesn’t mean anything. Feeling “vibrations” in your neck is completely different from using neck muscles to try and squeeze out notes. The throat does nothing but choke you out if you try using the neck muscles to sing. My voice teacher used to say that the ‘vocal mechanism’ is similar to that of a car. The motor is the support (abdominal muscles) and the exhaust pipe is your throat. And what does the exhaust pipe do? Nothing but blow air out. Which, is the only thing the throat should be doing in order to avoid building too much tension and closing up on you when trying to singing.

  • @veganator2683
    @veganator2683 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There is a new study proving that support doesn't come from the diaphragm. In fact, you can only control the diaphragm during the inhalation. The problem is, singing occurs during the exhalation. So how do we support our voice and avoid straining? Engage the muscles from your back, shoulders and thr back of the neck (you can do that by pulling on a big elastic with both hands). We need to stop spreading the idea of using the diaphragm for singing...

    • @DeathtotheAshes

      You shouldn’t be actively engaging anything.
      I mean, yeah don’t let your stomach collapse and have air burst through your glottis, but you shouldn’t necessarily be engaging anything. Just keep the sternum up and expand breath into that and keep that throat open.
      As long as you don’t over tank with air or have any noisy inhalation, your body will do the rest.
      Just gotta trust yourself.
      And do not tense or grip or bear down the stomach at all. You wouldn’t do it to inhale, don’t do it for singing either.
