- Met Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, gives an update on the Hainault sword attack - telling Nick Ferrari his officers were 'on the ground in 12 minutes' after being called to the scene.
Rowley says the two officers involved yesterday were both 'really, horrifically, seriously injured' after running towards the swordsman, who killed a 14-year-old boy and injured two more.
He adds that the male inspector suffered serious hand injuries and a female officer came close to her hand being removed
Addressing the officers that put themselves in danger, Rowley stresses: "I find it massively humbling that they are so connected to the mission of protecting the public - what they do is absolutely extraordinary".
Nick also hears from caller Muhammed, who knew the 14-year-old boy killed in the attack. Muhammed says that 'stop and search needs to be increased' and that public transport needs to be made 'safer' for younger people travelling.

How is this not a terror attack, this is by the very definition a terror attack when someone goes around attacking indiscriminately with a large sword. This is just a joke!!........ ...............................................................and where is Sangita???
Have you not seen family guy? They have a colour pallet to detect that.
They are all classed as “mental health” terrorist attack or not.
Because you can't deploy counter-terrorism units and resources for every armed crime. They have a job to do, and it doesn't involve running around doing what regular law enforcement can do. If they are not treating it as a terrorist attack, that means there is no practical use for counter-terrorism, and they can instead treat it with more appropriate action.
The police model does not fit into today's society of globalism, the country has been destroyed due to the mass lack of integration. Things will get worse.
Thats not the definition of Terror attack, it's politically motivated violence.

They had tasers. Not sure whether the injured ones had tasers.

Tragic as it was the poor lad was attacked before the police arrived this is an isolated tragic incident we must not make political capital out of this awful attack let the police do their job to investigate and publish the facts before we rush to wild speculation..
Totally pointless if you cant tell us anything other than what we already heard over the past 10 hours.
Referring to a caller who knew the 14 year old that has died - 'So was he on the sports teams?' Great question Nick. Gets right to the heart of the matter.
These incidents are happening too frequently in London, they have been almost normalised. The police should be given the right equipment to defend themselves but also to protect the public. Moreover, the law should be tightened to take tougher actions against such criminals and existing laws should be enforced, not dismissed on account of suspected mental health issues.
Brave but incompetent police. Unarmed women charging at a man with a sword. What did you think would happen?
The one who we see charging him had a taser which brought him down. Getting to the scene of the crime quickly was obviously more important in protecting the public than waiting for an armed response unit to be assembled.
This is when we see the best of the best and we do need to be reminded in these troubled times..

I think the biggest statement he’s made was different approaches, do not work on people who have had a mental health breakdown, or I believe his words was mental health crisis. Here we have the government trying to not give sickness benefit people with mental health problems. There’s not enough mental health beds in any part of the United Kingdom, this most certainly is the problem when people have a mental health crisis. There’s not enough mental health services. The questions in this particular case, if the gentleman who did these horrendous crimes, had access to mental health support, I.e. a CPN going to a clinic to be regularly checked on condition, access to treatment and drugs to control any said conditions.
When I was working on a building site in Bristol a few years ago there was a disagreement between one of the local labourers and one of the Irish steel workers. The local lad pulled a knife out and promptly got punched very hard in the face and disarmed. He was then laughed off site. 15 minutes later someone popped their head in and said he was coming back down the road and he had a samurai sword, so as he walked back onto site he got hit on the head with a piece of 2x4, disarmed (again) and his unconscious body was placed out in the street. By the time the emergency services arrived the sword had disappeared and nobody knew anything about the poor man lying in the road 🤷♂

Ultimately it's the government that people keep voting in.
Even talking to the Commissioner Farrari is such a pompous and self important ego maniac. The Commissioner is humble and the interviewer arrogant. Isn't this strange?.
To answer someone down the list? Special Branch and the police conduct an investigation, they search the suspects house and phone and computer. They check the files to see if he is known or has any connections with any group. Medical records are applied for and studied. If they can identify him they will talk to his family. Once all this information is gathered they can determine if it was an act of terrorism or a person acting on their own with Known mental health issues. The Police and Special Branch don't just make it up.
Why is his race it religion not mentioned or nationality. White supremacy the media doesn’t like to make white English people look bad. If I did this it would mention my race my nationality and my religion. You can be associated with a group and stop have mental health no?
It's school-shooter-ism. The mental health problem for young men in this country is seriously bad under the surface This and events like the Plymouth shooting I'm worried will be more common in coming years, sadly - particularly with the underfunding of mental health services by the government. Warm thoughts to all those affected by this tragedy.
Rowley said absolutely nothing.

All officers should carry tasers as a minimum
Are batons still a thing?
I think tasers may have overtaken them. If you get close enough to use a baton, you'd be too close to a samurai sword or machete for safety.
He comes across as so sincere 🤔🤬
Trying to deflect.
why turn up to a blade crime with lack of protection. slash proof clothing / gloves or a riot shield eye protection? don't give cops guns we know what happens. this could have gone better with correct protection. taser worked if it didn't there was more tasers right?
WHY HAVE THEY NOT NAMED THE PERPETRATOR?????
Now imagine this happened in Scotland. English media would be slating the govt. Down south, tumbleweeds.
Well firstly, the police response was commendable with their effective coordination and use of tasers. However, there seemed to be a lapse in the subsequent handling of the suspect, as they should have promptly applied heavy restraints given the evident threat to life. Despite the absence of firearms, the situation warranted decisive action. It's apparent that concerns about potential legal repercussions may have hindered the officers' actions, highlighting the need to alleviate such worries from policing. We must reinstate confidence in law enforcement to ensure public safety, rather than relying on alternative, less effective means. Additionally, if there's a shift towards limiting parental disciplinary authority, then it becomes imperative to empower law enforcement to appropriately discipline individuals as adults. This includes ensuring that police officers have the necessary support and authority to maintain order and safety in communities effectively.
RIP young one.
There should be more armed officers on our streets and more stop & search
