- I am following Alaska around as he 'helps' me with unpacking and sorting his cat food i ordered. This is a common trait of most mainecoons they like to 'help' which is just investigating what you're doing, or maybe joining in too and then just hanging out next to you while you do your thing.

WOW..Alaska is such a GORGEOUS boy......I've n e v e r seen a pure white MainCoon before...it's actually startling...I'm fascinated by their sturdiness & polydactyl "footsies"...
I had to give my dog up when I was three years old because I'm so allergic to dogs I can't breathe, but what I love about my Maine Coon, Muffie, is that he sleeps next to my pillow, his feet in the air. His snoring puts me to sleep. When I wake up, he pokes his head under the pillow I put over my head and kisses me. Then he likes to be hugged and kissed every morning before I get up. He greets me at the door whenever I go out; he sits on the table behind me while I write and encourages me with kisses. He sits on my lap in the bathtub when I give him vitamins and I hold him close to my cheek; he kisses me on the side of the mouth when we're watching television, and he talks to me when he thinks I don't understand "cat." He cries real tears when one of the other cats is sick or dies (he cried for a month and a half 9 years ago because a nineteen-year-old cat died, and he was only consoled when we bought him a tunnel). He has a very high moral fiber. He doesn't like it when his girlfriend, Désirée rejects a new cat. The first time that happened, he just ignored her, but this time, the new cat is a super sweet little moggie, and he has broken up with Désirée completely - not to be with the other cat, but because he doesn't like Désirée's attitude. He's right of course, but Désirée was jealous, so I feel sorry for her. His elder brother, Biscuit, likes to sit in my lap, throw his arms around me and kiss me, hug, and be petted as much as possible. He is the "father" of all the other cats. He has raised all of them lovingly, and he is a great father. Of course he sees himself as my "son," which means I have to feed him baby food by hand and coddle him, but he's so sweet it's worth the trouble.

We have a black male MC called Buddy. He absolutely loves to help us make the bed. A 16 lb cat running around under the covers is a sight to behold. You would not think a cat that big could move so fast. Absolutely amazing. He is a VERY playful cat and huge personality. Such a sweetie too.

Had to watch this video a couple of times... With a lot of laughs. Love how you just featured the critter without crazy music and just observe. I have a 17 year old domestic Shorthair and he does strange things and makes my life happy. And seems to know when I am ill and stays nearby me

I have two Maine Coons, and I adore them. One of mine is a classic red and white and the other is a blue. The one in my arms in this picture weighed nearly thirty pounds at the time; now he's 26 pounds, which is better. He's not obese. His grandfather, who was a show cat, weighed 35 pounds - Walrus!

one of my 2 rescues is the twin to yours but i was told he was a turkish van but looking at your cat mine is identical!!!! its amazing!!!!

Beautiful cat! He/she looks just like my cat Luna only she is a Norwegian Mountain cat. I guess the two breeds are pretty close in appearance and behaviour. (huge, naughty, sweet and always in the front row when something interesting is going on). :D
I love nfc cats 😻😻😻 yes they are very similar I think nfc back legs are taller, squarish/rectangular face structure whereas MC have longer ears and face more triangular. They have very similar personalities and sizes like you said 😸.
My cat is part Norwegian forest cat and his name is Loki. Now Loki will never leave a box unless he has jumped in it first so when I'm trying to put stuff away he always tries to get into every bag and box and I don't get anything done. Kitty's can be so silly sometimes.

Common trait of *most cats*, I think you mean. God if ever once I could do anything of any importance without my cat right in my face, lol. Pretty neat to see a white Maine Coon btw, and wow with those eyes. Alaska's a pretty handsome boy! He looks very intelligent, like he's thinking each situation over thoroughly.

I have two 2 years old cats. They are brothers. I named them Mac and Cheese. Mac is smaller but is a very good hunter. Cheese didn't hunt at all for about a year. Mac's favorite treat is cheese. He loves it. Cheese won't eat it. I've always thought that was funny.

omg. I have had a corgi, she was a Cardigan names Rosie and was very smart. But loud toenails on the hardwood floors clicking and their LOUD barks. Sadly she died after a long life but frankly would never have another Corgi. All that hair they shed and when you have a Maine Coon you must have hair on everything. But they are family so we abide.
+susan ryman Rosie sounds like a character, my condolences. You can hear Alaska's toe nails when he walks too because of his extra toes, when it gets louder that is when i know he needs clipping lol
regular cleaning everywhere (vacuum and brushes) and grooming him (which he hates) he also has baths (which he doesn't mind) once a month this takes out loose hair. But you will never be furfree like you said we abide as they're family :)

What a beautiful cat! Would love to have one but our Mediterranean weather would probably be just too hot for them.
doubm000 I know some in hot climates but they are indoors and have air conditioning so not too hot for them. If we get warm weather here his fur also sheds so has a lighter summer coat. So not impossible but you will need to accommodate.
doubm000 There are MCs here in Hawaii, and they seem to do ok here. As Alaska said, as long as ye make reasonable accommodation they should do fine.
He looks identical to my white Maine coon, Leevine, who is also deaf.

- Custom agents that's the truth : they seem to enjoy (always very seriously) inspecting and sniffing everything new that was brought from the outside. They are particularly found of cardboard stuff. I often wonder if that's because of the smell or because of the sensation they get when they touch it.

I see the cat's diet includes dry food. My Maine Coon almost died from a kidney stone. The vet said it was the dry food, the contents of which contain nothing natural for cats. He insisted cats are predators and meat is what they eat. After throwing out all my dry food, I never had a problem again.
Larry thank you. I'm constantly reminding people that cats are carnivores and require wet food, MEAT to keep them healthy. I've had two cats that got urinary infections from dry food. Then they pee next to the litter pan because they associated the litter with their pain. They need medication and patients before they begin to use the litter again. I put paper towels 3/4 of the way over the litter which is the only way they will use it. Gradually remove a little at a time. Otherwise if people can't bother to properly take care of them then they should get dogs.
Agreed, although another issue with some cats is their owners will put their water dish too close to their food dish, cats will just refuse to drink the water as they will perceive that it's been contaminated by their food (wild cats also exhibit that behaviour).
My cat Phoebe who passed away last year at 17 years old used to eat fresh meat every morning and good quality dry food for the rest of the day and she never had any urinary tract problems. My vet and I put that down to her drinking adequate amounts of water because her food and water dishes were literally at opposite ends of the room and the water dish was emptied, rinsed and refilled multiple times every day to keep it fresh.
Larry Johnson we give a mix of raw chicken and lamb, grain free high meat content dry food and cat wet food. He also loves drinking his from his water fountain which is in the different room. If he wasn’t such a picky eater I would make him fully raw.
Larry Johnson: My Baby Boy went through that dry food episode. We went to his doctor and I was told the same thing about the dry cat food. We changed the food to what the vet sells for kitty kats, and we didn't have that problem gain. My Baby Boy died at the age of almost 25 years old. He was a Siamese stray who came to a lower den room window and watched me watch TV. After the third day, he was waiting at my front door as I was going out to the store...So...I think you know the rest of the story. When he died, I went through a grieving period for a year, and had to join a grieving group for "Parents of Animals" at the suggestion of his vet. He was cremated, and he now rests in a small box in my closet, and I still talk to him once in a while when I have worries on my mind. Baby Boy always would know when things weren't going right, and he would stand in my lap lean his body against my chest, put his arms around my neck and would start kissing my cheek ...when he got my cheek as clean as he could, he would proceed to "wash the side of my hair" until he was satisfied that part of my head was as clean as he could make it, and then settle down for a nap in my lap. At that point I felt much better. I swear he wasn't a mere cat, he was a person in a light tan fur coat with long brown pants, and gleaming blue eyes. He had the best of care, the best of food, the best of medical care, as his doctors were cat specialist's, and the best of my bed and "my two pillows." He completely took over my bed...and my space in it. I loved him, and still miss him after nearly twenty two years. I held him as his doctor injected his shot to put him to sleep when his kidneys failed. He went to Kitty Heaven in just few minutes. I came apart, and the vet put me in a small office room with a sofa where I laid down and loudly wailed my heart out. Sorry, Larry that I, as a complete stranger, would come into your space, and carry on like this...but it was your conversation about the dry cat food that made me remember more than I should have about my Kitty Kat, Baby Boy. Sorry... 11/16/'18.

Felix is now 7 years old, i rescued him at about 14 months the vet estimated....he used to a bit on thinner side...He likes to eat...Play, Bark "something like that", Hunt and be very Sneaky;)

Cats are carnivorous, if you love your cat and want to keep it healthy feed it meat only. Dry food gives them Urinary Infections, then they start to pee outside the litter box because they associated the pain with the litter. Then they have to be treated with meds but still takes them awhile to trust the litter again. I have had four cats affected threw out the years this way. In order to get them to use the litter pan again cover half or three quarters of the litter with paper towel. It will take awhile but eventually you will be able to remove the paper towel a little at a time.
Rockie raw food is best. I can’t do fully raw as he is a picky eater but 1/3 of his food is raw chicken and lamb (have to hand feed him).
I give him grain free dry food with high meat content which won’t give uti. He also eats wet food with a mix grain free or high meat content. Loves drinking water from his water fountain too.
He does his toilet outside in the garden which cat proofed.

O_o; Hope you ended up moving that some place more secure. A container of potentially lethal bio-material is not something you expect to run into laying randomly on someone's countertop while perusing cat videos.
Ideally yes probably not the best place to put a sharps box. Although it was closed in a corner with something on top. If it did fall nothing would spill and injection needles will stay in container. It's too big for Alaska to chuck and we don't have small children so it didn't see it as a huge risk putting it there. Thank you for you concern.

+manga12 Thank you. Yes its quite common in white cats, however Alaska's hearing is very good thank God. Its usually deafness from birth haven't heard in later years unless its old age.
+manga12 he's quite unique as he's a polydactyl and white both quite rare. Though breeders are trying to introduce more polys they kind of got pushed out in the past because they didn't look so perfect in the catshows, though it's perfectly natural in mainecoons to have extra toes.
+Cat with thumbs I have heard of thumb and mitten cats, one called jimmie from the uk gives thumbs up if you could teach alaska to do that it would be so epic.

aky19832001 I got him from a uk breeder 3 years ago for £425 with papers but I think prices have gone up and probably around £400-£600 not too sure where your from but you can look at mainecoon breed websites in your country they have recommendations for rescues and pedigree kitten breeders
