    I have to say this is one of the best hunting videos I've seen. I love the detail you laid out in the video, your exact scouting and stand setup, wind direction, time of year, access, yardages, even how slow to walk etc . This is something that seems to be lacking in most videos. I really liked the reenactment mixed in with the actual footage of the hunt. Lots of lessons to learn and take away's from this. Thank you! Do you remember the wind speed for that day? Did you wait for a windier day since you were set up so close to the bedded buck?

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. That day the wind was around 5mph and a steady breeze which helped me no doubt. I really like those days where the wind is 5-10mph and even higher for getting in close to beds. Days where there is zero wind really makes it tough and much less consistent.

    That was probably the most well put together video I've watched and to end it with a self filmed kill...instant subscribe for me

    There's a deer that looks a lot like that behind my Dad's house this year. Almost that exact rack but the fork is on the left side. He made it through gun season.

    Great hunt, and great video. What makes this video awesome is that you give viewers the whole hunt. How you found the bed, and how you access your tree are missing from most peoples video's and they are probably the most interesting to me.
    Again, great job!

    How would you approach this during the rut with less leaves and cover with a rifle or shotgun?

    • @flinginairos
      @flinginairos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hunts like this are typically an early season tactic for me. You can certainly target bedding with less leaves and cover but it’s harder. It’s also less predictable during the rut. I have sat farther back with a gun and killed them too but early season patterns are king lol

    How did you take the thermals into play being below the buck in the evening can be hard to pull off

    • @flinginairos
      @flinginairos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joshua Lansberry I was far enough off to the side that the thermals were going up but being carried away from the buck. He didn’t move from his bed until the thermals switched that evening.

    Awesome video. Great stuff. Any tips on how you search for buck beds based on terrain? I know the military crest and all that, but anything specific to wv?

    • @flinginairos
      @flinginairos  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patches of laurel, clear cuts, any kind of cover on a leeward side is a good place to look. I do find them in the open hardwoods at the typical elevation but I have much better luck getting close to the beds that are in or close to cover on the hillside. If you can find a bench at the right elevation with some cover on it, it's usually a great spot as well!

      Flinginairos one of the areas i hunt has a lot of clear cuts (or shelterwood cuts where they leave some acorn producing trees standing). I always thought they were just used like a field for feeding) do you find deer bedding in them once they get thick?

    • @flinginairos
      @flinginairos  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the clear cuts I'm referring to are older, usually 10-15 years old that have some tree/sapling growth back in them

    • @mattkontyko97
      @mattkontyko97 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flinginairos so if you had say a really thick 20 year old cut on a flat area and at the edge of the cut there was a steep drop off to a creek bottom with mature timber, thats the place to look? I can think of an exact spot right now

    • @flinginairos
      @flinginairos  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Think of where the wind comes from usually and if the wind comes through that cut and over the hill there is a great chance there are bucks bedded there. Look close to the edge where it meets the timber. Sometimes they bed right on the edge, sometimes it's 10-15 yards back. If there is a hump, or some other elevated feature inside the cut they may be bedded there. If you watch my Ohio VLOG from this past season I killed my buck in the exact scenario you described.
