Currently studying my Bachelor Degree... and I’ll never forget this one girl. Now Ive done Vital Signs before, like I can do them in my sleep because I worked in Aged Care so I already know the basics... anyway, it was our first lab class, practicing vital signs and the girl I was buddied with, she struggled real bad to find my pulse and to hear anything when doing the blood pressure while I got hers straight away... I told her not to give up, that it takes practice and she will get it. She ended up having a breakdown, crying her eyes out because she thought she was going to fail at it all. I promised her that she would be ok, that she’d get it. She would make a beautiful nurse and I didn’t want to see her give up. I spent some of my free time and helped her practice... and then the day she finally heard the blood pressure for the first time and found my pulse, I cheered alongside her and I felt how proud she was of herself. Such an amazing moment. Anyone wanting to become a Nurse, it is a difficult road and it can be so easy to be discouraged and overwhelmed by it all, but it is a life changing experience and worth fighting for

You will feel defeated at times, you will want to give up at times, you will cry, you will be very busy...You will bond with your classmates like no other. Let those that are close to you understand that things will be changing for you while you are in school & will need their support. Make sure the people around you are positive & not toxic! I'm barely taking Anatomy and physiology this semester and next semester I start all my nursing classes for the next 2-3 years. this video made me scared because I'm already stressed in A&P 😭😂
A&P is tough, yes you need to put everything a side... And take notes. Look at the power points. Record the lecture. The review is key. Take breaks and don't over study. It's a lot of information. Get in a Study groups. Use Flash cards. You can do it, just takes work and dedication.

I was totally waiting for you to mention the highlighting struggle! I remember studying and I'd start highlighting and it seemed like I had to highlight 95,% of every page. 😂 Also, I remember feeling like I couldn't possibly fit anymore information in my brain! When I was going to school for my RN, I also worked 30 hours a week, and a husband and 3 little kids to take care of. I had dreamed of being a nurse since I was 8 yrs old. I struggled through all of it, only to end up developing a neurological disease in my last year. I tried to finish, had 1 semester left which was nursing management. However, the CRPS in my left knee spread to both legs from my thighs to my toes and I could no longer tolerate clinicals so I was forced to drop out. I was heartbroken and 15 yrs later, I still am! I love these videos! I hope everyone who is a nurse appreciates the job, even all the chaos because I would give almost anything to be the caregiver instead of having to have a caregiver. Keep these awesome videos coming nurse Blake, they bring up a lot of good memories for me. Also, has a video been done on nursing students going out to unwind after exams or Semesters ended because the people that I was in school with were very professional in school and clinical, but boy did we party hard when we could! 😂 I have a lot of crazy memories of seeing classmates turn into people that I had never seen!
