I’m pregnant with my first child and I’m curious how my periods will change after. Worried but after listening to you two I’m accepting that it’s normal and a part of the process ❤
I started watching your channel when you were a teenager, if I remember right. You introduced me to menstrual cups, and it changed my life! I never got proper education about menstruation in school and my family was extremely neglectful, so there were so many things I didn't know. Thank you so much for doing what you do! ❤
Thank you so much for talking about adenomyosis. I had a miscarriage recently (my first pregnancy), and was worried it might be down to that. It's very reassuring to hear you talk like this - thank you so much 💜
I’m 14 months postpartum, still breastfeeding and no signs of my period yet! 😊 I also had a c-section after a long, induced labour, my pp bleeding was no heavier than a normal period and stopped after 5 weeks.
I've been watching you since so early on in my period days, and I have to say as I'm going into my 2nd trimester of my first pregnancy, I've loved having you to look to. Thank you for consistently putting out plain, honest, relatable content that's based in education and facts ❤️
Omg Hannah! I HIGHLY recommend trying a disc. I've had 2 kiddos and exclusively breastfed both. Took 15 months to come back 1st time and 8 months after my 2nd. My flow was insane once it came back both times- like i was worried i needed to go to the hospital it was so bad. I was a cup user prior to having kids but afterwards, my cervix changed a lot and it became far too painful and honestly didn't hold enough. Pain with removal plus needing to change my cup every 2 or 3 hours on day 1 was a no go. I switched to a disc and it's far better. No suction means far less pain removing and it just holds more. I still wear periods undies and pads for the beginning just in case but i highly recommend trying a disc. I use the reusable flex disc right now but they have disposables you can try to see if it works for you. I think I'm gonna order a hello disc to try though since it looks a lot less messy. Good luck❤
Currently pregnant and really hoping I’ll be able to go back to my menstrual cup after birth! Before that I used cloth pads, and I just got some period underwear to try for the postpartum bleeding. Thanks for the tip to put a pad on the period underwear to get more use out if it!!
Covid changed my period massively. I had a two jabs, no issues. Third one was different “brand” and my periods went haywire. Cycle length all over the shop, random spotting, three week long bleeds. Then a year later I got Covid & my period started the day after my symptoms even though I was only 19 days into my cycle. Things evened out a bit since but it’s nowhere near normal yet & it’s been almost 10 months now.
You two happen to be the only TH-camrs that I watched for pregnancy/birth/baby stuff as I was getting ready for my baby. Wonderful to see a collab between you! ❤
I also had a c-section and my pelvic floor experience seems to be squarely in between the two of you. It changed and it made inserting anything really painful initially and I stopped using my menstrual cup for that reason. I then had a hormonal IUD inserted and bled for over a month at which point I started being able to use it again. Now my period is so light that last one used only one pad.
I also had a c-section with no labor, had little bleeding postpartum (less than a heavy period, and spotting for 3 weeks). My period came back at 6 weeks (no breastfeeding) more painful but otherwise normal, it was a 19 day cycle, and then the cycles went regular (35-ish, which is my normal). I also experience ovulation like a full cramp now instead of only on one side! And my pelvic floor was stronger afterwards but now two years on it's back to normal though I think I have less sensation on my muscles (on my abdomen in general too). Before I used mostly the cup and some pads, now I use more pads and rarely the cup, I just don't feel like sticking it up there 😂 Fun video you guys, I love you both! ❤
Thanks for making this collab happen! To both of you, I have watched both of your channels for years and love your content. The way you are so conversational and fun in an educational and relatable way is amazing! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m a crone now…but in younger days was very regular, felt ovulation, and usually which side. Sometimes thought I was mistaken that I had felt it a few hours earlier on the other side. My second pregnancy was fraternal twins. It was then that I realized I had frequently ovulated on both sides many months. So take note when you think you have mid cycle cramping on both sides or on one side then the other side or both sides later. If you have the multiple ovulation trait-that may be true. I was breastfeeding twins and got my cycle back at three months.
Hannah, you talking about getting your period back after you were unwell around Ro's birthday kinda makes sense. I am also on the progesterone only pill but one of the things that it says in the pack is that it'll be less effective if you have vomiting and or a runny tummy within the window that you normally take it. So if you normally take it in a three hour window, if you've been physically unwell in that time frame, its efficacy is less reliable. (if that makes sense!)
Same here, Bryony! Was exclusively breastfeeding and got my period back around the same time you did after giving birth, which made me mad as well!😂🙈 AND I noticed much less to no pain at all compared to periods before being pregnant and giving birth. But similarly, it is heavier than before, and I love those post-partum pads for the nights!
I have been wanting this since I discovered Hannah's channel. Always so well spoken Bryony. It was nice to hear you had some positives with the reduced cramping pain, but 8 day period sounds rough! I haven't had periods that long since high school and it was not fun, so much harder than 5 days.
The fact that she couldn’t see her baby until she was able to move made me very sad. My second child was born premature and went straight to the NICU. My husband went with him (at my insistence) from the OR to the NICU, and as soon as my surgery was finished, the nurses took me and my whole recovery room bed straight down to the NICU to see my baby. The NICU rooms have special walls that fold all the way open specifically for that purpose. It makes me very sad that that is not standard practice in your hospital.
I had horrendous cramps for 7 years! Once I was 18 and going to college my mom allowed me to go on BC (I know I would never do that to my daughter)! My cramps were so much better I could function on the first day of my period!! When I had to come off BC (I believe I was 29) to try for a baby I was terrified but my horrendous cramps didn’t come back! I was so relieved! My periods are longer after having my daughter 12 days with being super tired no energy got the mirena IUD it’s better except still long but with light flow!
Pelvic physio and vaginal accommodators are great to stretch out the pelvic floor and work the vaginal walls to tolerate having something in more. It's definitely worth it if you're having pain
I have adeno and Im going to go on the pill soon cause I cannot deal with the symptoms anymore. Interesting that having a baby helped ease the symptoms of adeno.
I really enjoyed this video, even though I've never had a baby and I'm going through menopause. I haven't had a period for 8 months, so I'm pretty confident that was my last one.
31:27 "cure" I'm here too. It's been recomended for my chronic symptoms, but have to put some big old quotes around cure, because a baby is not a cure. Need to want a baby, which i now do. Nice to hear your and Hannah's language was just like mine, haha.
Thank you very much Bryony. This was very interesting! I had a baby 11months ago, I got my period only once and never came back, which I'm very happy about 😄. I'm breastfeeding, but I'm not on the pill, I chose the implant that goes into your arm and so far so good! On another note, I did not knew Hannah, I will go check out her channel 😉
I have Endo and had Adeno (post hysterectomy). I haven't hear stats on Adeno but for Endo, a pregnancy has a 33% chance of making Endo better, 33% chance of no change, 33% of making Endo worse. For my personal baby making decisions, the possibility of Endo or Adeno being better didn't play a role...except a slight deterrent that Endo could get worse...
Hi Briony, please could you do a video on adonomyosis? I have recently been diagnosed and noticed you mention you also have it. Theres hardly any info on it and im worried it will affect my ability to become and stay pregnant. You mentioned it gets worse overtime? Ive got so much anxiety about it as feel like im a ticking time bomb (currently 30 yo) thanks in advance ❤
I always do the two in one thing with a reusable pad on top of the period underwear! Sometimes I need three or four in one though, so I'll be changing the pad multiple times after the period underwear is no longer serving its purpose... :D
I would really recommend menstrual discs for your pelvic floor issues Hannah! I found the suction was making me really uncomfortable with my tight pelvic floor and the discs just sit above your pubic bone instead so it’s not pushing on your vagina at all! Buy a pack of the disposable ones and see how it goes!
My Mum has no known conditions, but she also said that her periods got far less painful after I was born (I'm her eldest). I'm kind of hoping that I have the same experience when I have a kid, because my period is full on sometimes - cramps, gushing, the works..!
Since my first C-section my mid cycle pain can sometimes inflame my scar tissue. But as I get closer to menopause it's back to left or right. But it's not equal every month being one or another it will be one sided for a few months and then one month the other one
I have not found a period product I like, so if I don't have to leave home, I have a few pairs of old undies and pants and I put down an old towel and freebleed.
I had bleeding for goodness knows. Birth 8 dec, depo shot 12th dec. I bled for months lightly. Only got my periods Thursday and its ending now on Wednesday its September 20th!
My birth was vaginally and I bled for almost 7 weeks, it was kinda weird. But doctor said it was normal. But it was so long. And that was the post partum
I bled about 6 weeks postpartum, and had enough excess normal daily discharge to require pads for months after. I was afraid I'd never wear normal underwear again! First period has only just happened at 7 months, and it was much lighter and shorter. One heavy day, one light day then nothing. It used to be extremely heavy one day and then taper off over five days. I would like to get back to using a menstrual cup, but I'm apprehensive as I have a stage 1 prolapse and I have no idea how it will affect menstrual cup usage.
Thats also a very interesting video, al well as Hannah's. Hannah, your back pain - I think it could also be because the back (muscles) tends to be weaker after birth? At least it was for me. I had 3 children and I remember a lot of back pain, even outside of periods, when my kids where little. The boob pain vanishing, having to do with breastfeeding makes also sense to me.

Being transgender, having the NorBe tablet medication has been wonderful. The reason being, the pill helps prevent periods from happening. It is also medication given to women who don't want periods and the other options out there are not for them.
I wish more doctors would bother telling people about this. Why do we have to find out from TH-cam communities! Glad you have found good health care. Doctors should appreciate the restraint I demonstrate not taking a preemptive ice pick to medical appointments so I have it available to shove through them in response to whatever nonsense they spout next.
@@dees3179It is also called the Heather Pill. I take 0.35mg of it daily and it works like a charm. I hope your doctor can prescribe it for you if you feel like it is something that could benefit you.
I will be having my third vaginal birth in 6 weeks. I remember with my first I bleed for about month. With my second I bleed for about 6 weeks or so only because I got my first period towards the end of recovery. I didn’t have another one till my son was about 5 months old because I breastfeed him. I have noticed that my cramps had got a bit worse but my period have started become more regular then they used to. I had irregular periods before I gave birth. I could go two months without having one then after my first they where every other month and after my second they are some times irregular but they are pretty much every month
I've been having issues using a menstrual cup since giving birth 16 months ago. It hurt too much for the first few months but now my issue is it just won't stay in properly and keeps sliding down which is really uncomfortable. Anyone else experienced this or has any advice on how to get cups working for me again? I have an original ruby cup (which is somewhat soft) and a firm salt cup which is what I was using pre baby and worked well for me. I'm thinking maybe I need to try a soft cup again? 🤔
I don't have children as of yet but I experience every symptom under the sun and then some. I also experience oddly specific to pregnancy symptoms before I get my period too. My sense of smell heightens MADLY and certain smells make me feel really nauseous, I experience insomnia, morning nausea, all of my senses become really heightened- I can't deal with bright lights, unexpected touch (someone accidentally kicking you under the table or brushing past you in a corridor make me physically jump because I'm that sensitive to touch), I experience cravings for really specific and odd things it's just utter madness, please tell me I'm not the only one?
Wait, y'all were in hospital for FOUR DAYS? In United States we barely get to stay for 24 hours with a normal birth. As the non-able-to-be-pregnant one of all my relationships, i am saving up for postpartum care even now as a person who doesnt have kids - doulas are so expensive, but bodies can be so harmed by pregnancy that ensuring recovery is so important.
Interesting I absolutely hated the “adult nappies” that everyone raves about they just made me feel hot and sweaty. Absolutely awful, definitely just preferred the big post partum pads and big cotton underwear 😊
I'm in South Africa, and they tell before your c-section that you need to shave, and shave it completely.. Not just a strip at the top... I think a day or 2 prior to the c-section (if it's planned of course)..
Being an American, one thing that stood out to me was hearing you two talk about tracking your period on your phone. One of the big things here that everyone talked about when Roe v. Wade was overturned was do not use your phone to track fertility because that can be used against you.
