    I'd take a look at Nick's Tanker Pro Classics. They're a lot more expensive but if you look at it as a tool (because is a good boot not a tool to keep you moving and protected), the investment is worth it. They use a lot better material than the Corcoran, up to 8oz leather in some cases. Plus you can choose the arch height and a wide range of sizes and widths. Nick's boots can be resoled as well as rebuilt (replacing the insole down to the outsole).

    So sad that I tossed my old tanker boots when the soles fell apart.
    Had I known that they’d be wiped off the face of the earth… I’d have kept them.

      I've read about other types of tan boots being dyed black so it's probably possible. They wouldn't have the same slick finish as the real black ones, but they'd probably look a hell of a lot better. I wouldn't experiment with it unless I could find a really cheap pair of used ones though.

    It looks like the Carolina boot company is making the same pattern of tanker boots in coyote rough out brown (can’t find a black version). The descriptions and photos look like a near exact duplicate of the double H and Corcoran tanker boots. Around $255 retail as of 11/2022. Hope that helps anyone looking for a pair other than the much more expensive Nick’s handmade versions.

    Ive heard that tanker style boots don't have great ankle support and don't make good hiking boots because of it. Is that actually true, or Is the ankle support plenty adequate for a good hiking boot?

    • @vikingsharia
      @vikingsharia  ปีที่แล้ว

      For hiking on uneven ground, they don't feel as supportive as some lace-up options. But I used to wear them walking around on flat ground for 8 hours a day and they were just fine.

    • @thefatalcarrot8457
      @thefatalcarrot8457 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They’re quite literally boots for tankers. Boots with laces require the motion and impact of the legs to encourage good flow of blood and lymph through the body, but in a tank, your feet lose circulation. The design of these boots presume you’ll be stationary for long periods of time ie jammed into the guts of a steel beast.
      (The leather also doesn’t scorch off like boot laces if/when the aft caps from the main gun rounds land on your feet.)
      For hiking, absolutely not. For car trips to wherever, they’re fantastic; if you get stuck and have to hop out, you’ve got boots that can take a beating.

    TANKER BOOT

  • @AW-hg3pc
    @AW-hg3pc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wanna preserve a boot for a century and dont mind the smell of smoke? Pine tar is my best friend. When i decide i really love a boot i apply rigorous amounts of 50/50 mink oil and pine tar and follow it up by a beeswax rub. Eveb if the leather gets soaked and nasty it will keep bacteria from growing and it will keep leather straps tough and abrasion resistant.
    Pine tar is magical stuff, just make sure you make your own because alot of the market stuff has unnecessary crap that makes your boots too soft and when boots are too lubricated they no longer function as intended.

    • @vikingsharia
      @vikingsharia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is pine tar better than pine pitch? I read about a product that's a blend of pine pitch and mink oil.

    So cruel and crazy they discontinued tanker boot sadly.
    I bet a lot of people email them i did too i told them my dad have 40 pairs of them they still did not listen at all manufacturers like them think in their head ohh we already made our billions of dollars off Corcoran black tanker boots for years they don't care for their loyal customers honestly at this point customers like my father collect their boots for years need a refund at this point lol
    I have a big question for you viking sharia when will you do Rocky Side Zipper Jump Boots reviews in the future and do you wear leather jackets like biker jackets i will love to see reviews on them and cowboy boots for affordable prices because on youtube reviews sadly you see very very expensive cowboy boots brands and biker leather jacket people who make reviews need to keep in mind that their subscribers and viewers or people in general don't have a lot of money to spend on one pair of boots especially prices went up badly
    I think all TH-camrs should make reviews for affordable and cheap prices nowadays only!👍👍👍

    • @vikingsharia
      @vikingsharia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sooner or later, somebody's gonna make affordable black tankers again. Maybe one of the military reenactor companies? So after wearing the Rockys for 2 years / 3 seasons, I would say that the soles have worn down slower than the Corcorans. The side zippers and snaps have held up, and I only re-tie the laces a couple times a year. And their wide width fits me really well. I don't really have anything negative to say about them other than they don't look quite as cool as tankers. And I don't have a whole lot of experience with leather biker jackets.

    • @demondr2039

      @vikingsharia yeah hopefully soonest possible because I spoke with a lot of people recently they all told me that they are disappointed that they discontinued them unfortunately . so we not the only ones disappointed it millions of people out there are probably sad.
