    Thanks for the review. The boots you’re calling original WWII boots I’m quite sure are post-WWII. The boots we built for Eastman Leather are extremely accurate WWII boots, right down to the US Army half sole and the Cat’s Paw heel. The last we also reproduced from the original boot. The buckles, the stays/loops are all exactly the same as the WWII boots provided by Eastman Leather that we did our research from. The reality is the Eastman boots we made are closer to WWII than the old boots you thought were originals that you’re comparing ours to. Still a great video, I love what you do. And I’m happy you’re enjoying the Eastman Leather Raider boots too. You wouldn’t believe the research Gary Eastman and I did to get those things correct as possible. Not to mention all the boots we make are ethically made, just like the originals. Dale, again, great video, I wish I had the talent to make these like you do.

      Amazing!! Thanks so much for these insights John, and thank you for watching!!!! It’s hard to track down originals so I’ll pin this comment to the top so everyone can get your insights into the reproduction, I’m wearing them now, love these boots!!

      They are hard to find, I don’t even have a pair in my archive. Luckily Gary Eastman had a pair for us to work with.

    The original tanker boots were made by Dehner in Omaha which is still in business. Over 29 years as an Army Officer, I bought 3 pairs of boots from Dehner. They are custom-made to your feet.

    The boot with laces looks like a variant of the M43 boot. The M43 double buckle boot replaced the roughout ankle boot. The main advantage and improvement was that you did not have to bother with the cumbersome canvas gaiters as it had the built in leather cuff.
    The M43 buckle boots where in general issue by the winter of 1944/45 and were worn by all branches of service including the Paratroopers, Armour and Infantry.

    I'm wearing Nick's Tanker Boot right now. Not authentic to tanker boots but very authentic to Nick's. They look and feel as you'd expect from their boots.

    Dale Buddy! This is BJ Clay, aka veronajack. You should have told me! I just had Sany make a pair of tankers for me, deep brown. Don't know if he's mailed them yet, but maybe you could divert them to you, review them, and then send them one to me. Sany says they're gorgeous! Anyway, I'll put the offer forward if you Choose. Love your channel, you're the one who turned me on to Sany. Love it, but I'm a whole lot poorer. You have my address, be cause I just ordered 2 insoles and 2 kilties from you. (I have no fear you'll steal them, because I wear a 12!) Ha! Your bud, BJ Clay

    I had a pair in rough out havana. Love it. Only downside is that it's too much volume for my feet. I need to put 3 insoles in for it to fit properly.

    Outstanding boots. I am blown away by the design and build of these WWII era footwear. I LOVE the Tanker by Eastman!! I look forward to seeing a future review on these ones; patina machines. Regarding the inner loop from the cavalry boots (I think I got the name right) it could be for a name tag to identify the owner (soldier), in case anything happens. I am not an expert and I could be completely wrong, but given the risk of being inside of those tanks, plus all the mechanics and moving parts, having your name tag securely hidden might be important. 🤷‍♂️
    Love this series Dale, great job buddy!!

      Man thank you!! You know this donned on me too that maybe it was to affix a keychain to the inside of the boot so that the troop could be identified , you may be more right than you know

    th-cam.com/channels/7Y6JCaWn9Nl1Sm91LFFx7w.html Us cavalry boots ij action. The curdown boots are modified boots, field, legging topped aka cavalry boots. They were truncated into into a two buckle version and were worn this way in post war germany.

    How do these shoes fit you? What is the recommendation for choosing a size?

    • @DalesLeatherworks
      @DalesLeatherworks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Full size down! I’m a 9 brannock and these run UK sizing so I went with an 8 and it’s perfect. My standard redwing size is 8.5 for reference

    The original tankers are so much cooler and better designed.
    I owned the eastmans and the last was honestly really bad imo, sold these off so fast.

      @John_Lofgren 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m really sorry to hear that. What did you think was bad? Would love to hear your input. The boots you’re calling original are certainly post-WWII boots. You may like the design better, it’s a point of personal preference, but we weren’t out to improve the design, we were going for accuracy of original WWII boots. I think we nailed all the details of the originals that we were working from. Still, I would appreciate your input.

    I will tell you something which you might not like: I don't like this background music at all, it sounds like some mystery show or some horror show is about to start, it doesn't sound anything like a boot review start-up!😮
