    Viktor the black powder merchant was one of Matt's most eccentric 'crazy' characters. If you can catch a clip of the actual live-play of Viktor, I recommend checking it out.

    4:30 It's... it's a meme. It's the 'Is this a pigeon?' meme. Because the creators of this IP are, above all, gigantic dorks.

    I think with regards to Percy keeping Ripley a secret - I think Percy at this point still has guilt about dragging the group into a confrontation with the Briarwoods, especially since he attacked them at the end of it all. So, I suspect in this case he's keeping knowledge of Ripley from them because he doesn't want them to think he's still obsessed with revenge.

    • @theanyktos
      @theanyktos ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Oh yeah. Percy's kinda tired of being _The Problem_ ™️

    • @IndomitableAde
      @IndomitableAde ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a good point. Percy wasn't even aware of Orthax's presence, unlike Grog who knows Craven Edge is sentient (although he might not know that word) and is actively concealing that very vital piece of information from the party.

    • @E-Lykos
      @E-Lykos ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The player said that Percy also suffers from the perception that he is "the only adult in the room", so he tends not to disclose stuff despite telling others to do so. He also has a habit of disregarding warnings and such because he believes he's smart enough to overcome most obstacles when that is clearly not always the case

    • @IndomitableAde
      @IndomitableAde ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@E-Lykos yeah, Percy's pretty arrogant. Imagine how much more pompous he be if he'd never been humbled.

    The fact that I met the two Take member VAs....but didn't know it yet. One was from Batman Beyond, the other Motok Kusangi of GITS Mark 2!

    Zara and Kash are guest player characters from the live stream also voiced by the same ppl that played them during the stream, Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn(VA and lovm voice director) and Will Friedel (boy meets world, batman beyond) respectively :)
    Edit: they were also much less antagonistic in the live stream.

    >"He's too dumb to realise that the sword tries to manipulate him" - haha, yes, exactly! :D
    I like how Kashaw is trying to be dangerous and cool and then immediately surrenders when Vex gets too close :D
    8:10 yes, at high levels (Kiki is not there yet, but she's going) druids start to age one year for every ten years that pass. As a half-elf, Keyleth would live for 150 years, but more than a thousand actually pass before she becomes old.
    Ahhhh, yess, Victor the gunpowder merchant! He's actually a little _less_ crazy compared to the campaign :D He is one of the most beloved characters, on par with Gilmore and Allura, and this minute was definitely not enough of a screentime for him.
    10:32 how Christian immediately realised who is the second customer! Your thinking and connections you make are really a delight to see, thank you so much!
    Also, this exchange:
    Vex: Is something wrong, dear?
    Percy, trying not to die from a heart attack because his archnemesis is alive and plotting: nothing at all.
    Sure, sure, Percival, you are the king of ignoring problems, nothing bad could happen. But you are right that they have to deal with dragons, and more importantly, they already know where to start and what they will need to beat them, while they know nothing about Ripley's whereabouts. And I also think that Percy feels a lot of shame, and tries not to be"a burden" to his friends, so that is why he kept silent.
    The hunt for Vestiges is going to be glorious. You can't even imagine.
    Also, an honorary mention goes to Earthbreaker Groon, they did him incredibly good in this episode, and I am so in love with him. And his speech! (Almost word for word is taken from the original, no less)
    Thank you for the reaction! _waits eagerly for the next one_

    @theBSDude44 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I think, rather than "keeping a secret," Percy is trying to move past it. The visual language puts him in the shadow when he thinks about Ripley and in the light when he's talking to Vex. I agree that he's suffering in silence, but I think he thinks he's hiding his feelings, not that Ripley is a present threat (because he doesn't think that Ripley is a threat, he only thinks of her as someone he selfishly wants to kill).

    I really like each character getting a personal trial. Such a good way to develop each one quickly for the audience.

    Vasselheim, the Dawn City, is the first city that mortals built on Exandria.
    It has survived as the only major mortal city still standing in two global scale apocalypses, which is why they tend to be rather isolationists.
    It's not that they lack empathy, but their history makes them inclined to fight only once danger comes to them.
    Another interesting note is that the Knowing Mistress has an official temple in Vasselheim (the Cobalt Reserve), yet her favored servant Osysa hides out under the HQ of a bunch of rowdy bounty hunters.

    In the original playthrough, on halloween, Matt dressed up as the black powder merchant and played the character so well.

    Definitely one of the best parts of Season 2 is being able to see more of Tal'Dorei (the continent where they are), outside of Emon and Whitestone.

    If you’d like to learn more about the world and why there are these gods handing out magical super weapons, bookmark these for after season 2:
    - Exandria: An Intimate history, a 10 minute idea in which Matt Mercer gives a brief history of the world, from creation to major events, to campaign 3. There are no spoilers, just Matt’s sultry voice, pretty art, and some Infograph
    - Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, directly springing from Matt’s history lesson. R episodes, 20 hours of live play dnd - the best table you’ll ever see. A Prequel set 1,000 years before Vox Machina that is extremely somber in tome and tells a sad tale at the core of events that led to the world you’re seeing in this show, filled with magic and gods that are mentioned by not seen (much)

    The design for the Slayer's Take characters were taken from Joe Madureira's Battle Chasers comic series. He drew the first poster for the Critical Role streaming show.

      Only the two who are Battlechsers cameos; Garrison and Red Monika.
      The other Slayer's Take members are originals.
      Except for Zahra and Kashaw of course. :)

    Half-Elves like Vex, Vax and Keyleth live long (about 180 yrs), but a high level Druid will age even slower: 1 year biologically for every decade. Keyleth has been essentially procrastinating on doing her Aramente because "technically" she has all the time in the world, but on the other hand, she is afraid that if she doesn't get a move on most of (if not all) her friends are gonna die before she finishes.
    TLDR: Keyleth is afraid of doing her Aramente, but is also afraid of not doing it quick enough.

    I think part of Percy not sharing about Ripley is that he's trying to let go of vengeance. Unfortunately, Percy may have swung too far the other way. We had a similar situation in the actual game.

    Last season did y'all watch The Legend of the Cast of The Legend of Vox Machina? If not, I highly recommend a watch. It's the BTS with the main voice cast of season 1 and how they came on-board the project. Not asking for a reaction, just thought y'all might enjoy it.

    All of VM had been here before, delivering an unholy thing to be stored in a holy place. Kash and Zahra are voiced by the same actors that guested on Critical Role at the time. Things were never this antagonistic, but VM *did* get the killing blow on a creature that the Take was supposed to bring down; VM joining the Take was how to work around that magically bureaucratic snafu.
    Now that you've met the black powder merchant, you should look up the Victor supercut (unless it's the recent one by Birds&Critters, because spoilers). Matt's performance, and the players' reactions, are not to be missed.

    Google "Matt Mercer as Victor" for the black powder merchants origins/fate/cool cosplay. Mr Mercer voices the character in this episode.
