    I'd like to see an ABS plastic version of the early model Euro bumpers. They get scalped so hard and present a steep barrier to entry for those with early model cars trying to fit a Mtech1.
    Even better would be a one-piece version of the Mtech1 bumper, like how the Mtech2 comes, that does away with those euro bumpers.

      @@garagistic the biggest drawback of the conversion is you still have to trim the rear bumper sides for the wheel arch, as well as the rear door cards. everything front doors and forward are direct swap though. If you guys could make an early model MT2 kit, that is already trimmed/formed for early model back half, I'd imagine more people would jump on it. Elongating the mounting holes to raise the late-model bumper supports is easy enough for most, it's the trimming and finishing of ABS plastic that scares them away.
      All that being said, I'm probably going to buy and modify an MT2 kit anyway. My 85 already has late model front bumper and valance. The rear diving board was already pushed in and the black trim above is wavy from sun damage. Being able to buy a relatively bolt-on solution for the rear would be sweet though.

    • @garagistic
      @garagistic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have a late model E30 or early model E30? Our red E30 is a late model and the front bumper on the later models come with black trim that covers the full length of the bumper (as shown on the red car).
      It sounds like you have an early model US front bumper (aka diving board bumper) and those don't come with black trim underneath where the front license plate is installed. There are a few aftermarket options out there that fill in that section but we currently do not carry those but may start producing those in the near future. If you are in need of one asap, try looking up something along the lines of "E30 early model front plate filler" and I believe you may find what you're looking for 👍

      Mtech 2 kits were only installed on late model cars from the factory and were never intended to be used on early model cars. It is still 100% possible to install on an early model car as long as you have done a plastic bumper conversion which requires -
      - late model front/rear crash bar

    What about the convertibles? Which one of these would apply?

    • @garagistic
      @garagistic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really depends on if your convertible is a late model or early model (refer to the taillight explanation). Mtech 1 kits are meant for early model cars and Mtech 2 kits are meant for late models. The side skirts, however, on both our MTech 1 and 2 kits we currently offer are only compatible with coupes and sedans since convertible rocker panels are longer than on coupes and sedans. The M3 front/rear bumper can fit convertibles but will require a late model front bumper support to fit the front bumper.

      With the current kits we offer, you would either need to upgrade to Euro chrome bumpers to fit the Mtech 1 kit or do the late model bumper swap to fit the Mtech 2 kit. If you were to install the M3 kit, you would only need to source late model front/rear bumper shocks and bumper crash bars.

      I have an early model with a full late model bumper conversion. You just need the front valence with the front bumper brackets the front bumper and front bumper shocks as for the rear you need to do some modifications. There’s a good write up on late model conversions on e30 wiki I believe.

      The tow hook gets threaded onto the passenger side of the front bumper. The threads are hidden behind a small plastic cover 👍🏽

    • @garagistic
      @garagistic  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! For the most simple and robust install, however, we do recommend getting late model bumper shocks and late model bumper supports (crash bars) so you can simply bolt up the m3 style kit onto the late model bumper support.
      We have had customers create their own brackets to mount the m3 style bumper to their early models too.
