Stunning Artisan Cakes in a 400-Year-Old Samurai House! Beautiful Cakes from a Historic Setting

  • We went to Hareto-Keto in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, for a photo shoot. All of the store's sweets are made at a temperature of 48 degrees Celsius or lower, called “low sweets,” and the ingredients are healthy sweets made without wheat or white sugar. The owner, Ms. Yoshida, makes her sweets with the eater in mind so that both body and soul can be energized, and they are all so colorful and beautiful that just looking at them is exciting. The chocolates on top of the raw cakes are also made in the store, and each one is decorated to the smallest detail, making them lovely and vibrant. The taste of the sweets that I received at the store was smooth and new to me and very delicious.

    Man people just in their own little corners of the world quietly making the most amazing things. Makes you wonder what else is out there to be discovered and shown.
