    XLNT!!! One of the better videos on the subject. The first time I've seen the shift linkage mentioned and removed. I'm doing mine and all the other videos make a big deal of having to remove the exhaust pipes or raise the rear of the transmission. They kind of gloss over the fact that the shift linkage bracket is more of an obstacle than the exhaust. That is what has been holding me up so far. After seeing this video, I know what to do to get the pan all the way off.
    Thank you very much for making a superior video that exhibits the 3 P's of good work: Patience, Persistence, and Perseverance.
    May the rest of your labors go as smoothly.
    P.S. Killer torque wrench!

    Thank you for the great video. I ended up just bending the bracket out of the way rather than remove it. When done I just bent it back to where it was. Easy peasy

    Very well done video! I have to tackle this as well because my pans gasket is leaking for some reason.

    remove shift link bracket first before removing the trans pan. If you want an easier trans service next time, make sure to use rtv to seal the pan and apply it to the transmission instead of the pan that way you don't mess up your seal when you put the pan on the truck because it's a tight squeeze between the exhaust and the trans and you will touch the pan lip on the inside of the trans which will transfer rtv. The RTV is because over time an actual gasket, like the cheap paper ones mold and stick to the pan making it a nightmare to remove, rtv you can once over with a die grinder quick style and rinse the pan after. Little tricks make life much more easy working on these trucks.

      Looks like a Haynes Manual for GMC/Chevy trucks. You can find them at most auto parts stores and on Amazon. They are specific to each model year range. There are also Chilton's Manuals, which ib my opinion, are laid out a little better. Either one is a very good book to have if you do a lot of vehicle maintenance yourself.

  • @SoccerReels
    @SoccerReels 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    good content but you could have done this in 10 minutes. why spend so much time on the torx screw holding the bracket? that should have been 10 seconds, not 3 minutes. same with the manual. same with the filling of fluid. just learn to cut down your content to the relevant stuff and your content is the best out there.
