the zlx and k12.2 are in different categories. it is not even a fair comparison. the zlx is the entry level line of ev just like the cp series from qsc. a better comparison would of been the qsc k12.2 vs ev ekx 12p

I'm not sure why people try to compare speaker using the 12 oclock settings on speakers. Different speaker designs/brands have different gain settings. Gain alone wont tell you the maximum volume output of a speakers but a speaker with higher gain structure will probably sound louder when the signal applied to it is the same as another speaker with a lower gain at similar volume setting.. It would be a more controlled setting if you were to test speakers at the exact same power or if comparing sound quality, at least calibrate them to the same db using, say, a 1khz test signal before listening to music. Setting both at the same volume position does not guarantee at all that the drivers are receiving the same power. The only way to confirm that is to place an oscilloscope at the driver contact (even that would be tricky because the distribution of power between bi-amped tweeters and woofers are not the same between different brands. People almost alway perceive a speaker to be better when it's louder than the other it's up against. So please, don't lead people to think that comparing two product at the same volume knob setting is fair. Sound experts should understand this and should know that people can't compare quality of speakers listening to their headphones at speakers recorded with microphones.

I use a set of K12.2 at my small live venue here in Japan. I don't know about the EV speakers. But the K12.2 is phenomenal. Loud, soft, doesn't matter. I leave them on Default and the volume is at unity. We have a 31 band GEQ and a Midas Venice analog mixer. Nothing but compliments on the sound. In fact, I'm getting ready to purchase two QSC CP12 for monitors and a single KS118 sub. My customers and performers are all in for a surprise. That's my QSC testimony.

I use the ZLX for Stage monitors.. Great price and small size works

when you consider the QSC is more than double the price i dont think its work it, moreso if the ZLX can compete then the EV EKX-12P should smash the QSC at around the same price.

That’s a great point. I use the EVs for my live solo gigs and they sound great. But if I were to spend substantially more on another speaker like the QSC, I would expect the different in quality to be substantial.

If you are going to do a test, you would have to place it on the pedestal at the same height, one lying horizontally on the floor and the other vertically, so you don't have a base, nor does it show which way the boxes were facing in the test.

You guy should do a blind test, then tell which one is better
