According to the announcement, "the BYU medical school will be focused on teaching with research in areas of strategic importance to the Church. Happy Birthday President Russell M. Nelson and Congratulations for the decision on the new Medical School at BYU. In 2001, it was the Mormon school, the University of Utah that created an excellent web site to study Pathology. The program allowed many medical doctors, including me to gain the confidence needed to pass the USMLE. Pathology in these days in my opinion is being relegated to a seconds class subject when it should be an important key for the daily practiceen particularly in times of COVID.

It takes a scary amount of time and money to attend medical school. The goal and focus for BYU med school is great, but if it is not like other medical school programs such as U of U, I hope the school ensures their graduates are capable to find jobs after graduation. It will be devastating for those students if they spend their prime years with loaded student loans and end up not being able to find a decent job in the medical field because the focuses that they had at med school does not fit the normal job positions in the medical field. A couple of the graduates can end up working for church in the humanitarian department, but if the focus is not like other traditional medical schools, what other job options are available for them to pay off their student loans and be competitive in the medical field in the US. I really hope it will become successful as my daughter wants to go to medical school in the future.

This is wonderful news to expand the school at Provo. I really wished that they would build another BYU campus somewhere else. I know there are campus at BYU Provo, BYU Hawaii, BYU Idaho, as well as satellite campus in Salt Lake, London, Jerusalem, and Washington DC, as well as CES Online. There is a lot of competition for the main schools, constructing another school acknowledges the growth of the church and provides additional seats where they were turned away. While I would ask for another US based location, I will give a nod to the fact that the church has grown abroad so perhaps the next one should be non-us based. Brazil? Mexico? Australia? Philippines? Is there a way to make it so that the housing was affordable - school was affordable. Thinking of it, almost building a new city just for the university - it would require acquiring planning of thousands of acres of land, and constructing in decades of phases and expansions.
