This past year on carnivore/ketovore my life as a type 1 has been the best year since I was diagnosed 15 years ago. I’m down 35lbs and feel like a million bucks. My endo has been giving me a hard time because of my elevated ldl and wants me to eat more carbs and a low fat diet.

BTW... As a type 1 my HBA1c is 5.2 and is usually in the low 5s for the last several years...keto does work.

It is a sad fact that many of us with type 1 not only had to learn dietary control on our own, we had and have to fight conventional medicine, my ophthalmologist told me a ketogenic diet would kill me. Now carnivore and ten years later I'm still alive use 80% less insulin and 80lbs lighter...same weight as when I graduated high school 50 years ago...165lbs.

Yes diet is a very useful lever in the management of type 1 diabetes! Protecting and promoting a higher level of health for my loved ones is my goal. I have a husband who has well controlled type 1 for 30 years. He has a cgm that lets him see how food choices affect his blood glucose and an insulin pump. He tends to eat paleo cereal in the morning or egg frittata/meats not the carb heavy standard American diet. I also have a son who has type 1, hashimoto thyroid, adrenal insufficiency and celiac. My hypothesis is gluten is the trigger in the gun that punches a hole in the intestine and subsequently causes the body to attack self thereby destroying organs (auto immune diseases). This 😅mama hates gluten but the blessing is it steers you away from a lot of carb temptations that skyrocket your blood sugar. Best of luck with your type 1 diabetes journey Andrew!

I’ve read the book…. But what I need to know is how do I lower my CAC score- my score was 1200- FH, blood pressure Normal, glucose normal- high LDL & they want to up crestor to 10mg & I’m freaking out!! Dr. Was NOT through at alll- basically said I won’t live to see 80 if I don’t up the crestor- so needless to say I didn’t dare say a word about eating carnivore. HELP!! I’m getting ready to turn 52 & I literally feel so hopeless

Check out the TH-cam video that Kelly Horgan did with Dr. Ovadia where her carnivore friend had a heart attack and they talk about what and why and what to do. I think it’s called the worst video I’ve ever had to do…. Something to that effect. Lots of info in that video. Good luck and God bless!
