Station nightclub fire in West Warwick RI in 2003. The sound of the MT's on steady horn sounds eerily similar the a/v's (Wheelock MT24LSM's) screaming as the club began burning down and patrons are scrambling to evacuate. PS. Very clean install! Looks great!
What they used to have in my high school was those loud continuous fire alarms of the exact same sound that just played in the first part of the vid, but now they have decided to change the continuous sound to a lower pitch sound because those fire alarm sounds were way too loud, and i think some people weren't liking it either so yeah, they had to change that sound in my school.
The elementary school I went to had Gentex Commander 4's in the main campus, SpectrAlert Advances, and Wheelock MT's on the "portables." The school had three portables, the one closest to the school main campus had the advances in the classrooms. The second and third portables had the advances outside. The alarms they used inside the second and third portables had the MT's. In 5th grade, I was put into the 3rd portable... my dumbass chose the desk closest to the MT and the door. That sucker was (as NewAgeServerAlarm says) LLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOUUUUD!!! In 6th grade, I was in the 2nd portable which also had the MT's and the advance. I was being smarter, and since I was special needs (meaning I had to go to a SPED room for a bit) I could go out before the fire drill started which was a BLESSING. The junior high I went to had Gentex Commander 3's and 4's. I was used to them from elementary school, but the alarms here were OUT OF SYNC which bugged the hell out of me. The high school I went to had a HUGE system that had SpectrAlert Speaker Strobes coded with the Notifier NFS2-3030 voice evac message on the main campus that I LOVED. In the CTE building, it had.. you guessed it... Gentex Commander 3's and 4's set on temporal (not synced). The swim building had the commanders too, but those were set to slow whoop. The community college I'm attending has separate systems in each building, but the only ones I've heard go off were the EST genesis alarms doing temporal. At that point I was like.. meh... Keep in mind, this particular thing happened before the pandemic. Anyways.. I just wanted to share this since hearing the MT's in the video brought back memories.
Super dope test. I tested a system that was almost identical to this setup. It was on an old Honeywell FS-90 system. Super cool retro system. Keep em up!
Wheelock although dirt cheap in quality still makes some very good products. I know from experience they’re ungodly loud every single appliance which works more than great for the purpose of notification.
@@FireAlarmDude5967 I’ve spoke to quite a few techs who’ve been out in the field who say the build quality is cheap. I think even if that was true, wheelock is a very good brand. They even invented sync and led strobes.
Pretty sure Honeywell owns Notifier, Gamewell-FCI, Silent Knight, Fire Lite, and System Sensor, just in the commercial fire alarm industry in the United States. They really do have basically half the companies that exist.

Never seen an MT on a Wheelock backbox before but it looks AMAZING!!! That ceiling mount LSM is really cool and feels so wrong for some reason 😂 Also I think your mic wasn't very happy with this system on continuous lol, I can't believe I chose this as my second alarm ever.
Your different coding setup was basically my high school. Each individual NAC was in a different coding. It was so stupid, I really don’t know how they got away with it.
At the part where you showed the strobes in the dark, that clearly explains why strobe synchronization requirements are in place. Codes require synchronized strobes for a very good reason and this clearly explains why synced strobes are a major must. One or two strobes out of sync in the field of view isn't too much of a problem but five, six, or seven strobes out of sync in the same field of view is super disorienting in a major way. I like alarms myself and I am in a fire alarm class at my college. That said, we are currently talking about strobe syncing and why it is important and I would like to ask if it is okay for me to use this video in my fire alarm class?
@@FireAlarmDude5967Especially the part where you turned off the lights at 9:18 to 10:02. I like to joke around a lot but that part is no joke. No joke. I love to play jokes but unsynced strobes are no joke. No joke. Super disorienting. This video, particularly that part where you turned off the lights and let the strobes flash in the dark, is the exact reason why that I used a Wheelock DSM sync module on the strobes on my Honeywell vista 20p system. Thanks for the permission to use this video in my class. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million words.
@@FireAlarmDude5967 ah makes sense Didn't know Honeywell still used these pulls for addressable systems, wonder what panels it was used on. And yes I can confirm BWI has these. They seem to have a Honeywell xls (notifier rebrand) system that still has some legacy devices

Always hated these Horn/Strobes growing up. Having several of these at full volume in close proximity to each other in a hallway probably gave me some sort of hearing damage. I still to this day don't like them.
The MT outside the place I work was so weathered and brittle that one day, I saw it with the plastic absolutely cracked and the strobe caved into the back box. They still haven't replaced the unit from what I saw last time
You have a strange fetish. There are plenty of pyromaniacs igniting stuff on TH-cam but you are probably the only antipyromaniac around. It's a nice obsession that even benefits your neighbors. The real question though, is why I watch (and enjoy) your videos when they're mostly useless to me as a Manhattan apartment boy...?

Very fun test! I never knew Honeywell had a version of the MT. Cool stuff!
Fun fact, when the Wheelock MT is set to horn, it actually sounds the same as the Wheelock AS horn!
