The sea current at the time of grounding was heading east to west. The wind speeds were low. In the event of power outage to the boat, casting the anchor would have stopped the boat well in time. Was she drug tested or alcohol tested?

Two issues not being mentioned are the following. One a ladies hair Tong that over heated and went on fire and two someone on the bridge texting on their phone and not paying attention to the ship's controls and navigation. Both were female

Too much incompetence at the top of the navy. How do you sail a 100m dollar boat and not know what your doing? and if you cant accept criticism you shouldn't be in charge of a public serving organisation or lead a team in one. This is nothing to do with woman or man.

New Zealand is profoundly blessed to have such a deeply competent, compassionate and radiant defence minister. It is a great relief to know the catastrophe indeed had nothing whatever to do with the gender of the ship's captain - and that the captain was in fact the saviour of the day.
Today, a bus crashed . Experts sceen examinations will take time. All on board survived but can not say what happened....... or may have. BS

I sinply don't believe her gender didn't come into play when she was appointed captain of a $100 m vessel. That's not misogynistic, it's reality.
She's been a Navy officer since 93. She has spent literally years and years at sea in every continent and round every ocean.
Taxpayers have a right to be furious, regardless of gender. 2:42 - is that so? Many would disagree.
Man or woman,the Master is responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel. The IMO are not misogynistic.

It worries me that no one taught the minister how to say the name of the stricken vessel properly. I hope politics don't play a part in the findings. I feel sorry for the commander. It must be so hard to lose one's ship. The RNZN will be shocked.

75 people are alive, thanks to quick thinking of a captain who assessed the situation and realised that the outcome was inventible. If any of you keyboard warriors know what lead to the incident then maybe you should be interviewed by the enquiry. ( but you aren't that important, or know very much)
