    A totally unreal experience when visiting Mexico. In this video, I explore the canals of Xochimilco with my amigo Horacio.
    To hire a trajinera (boat / gondola) costs $500 pesos per hour (although this can be negotiated outside of weekends depending on how busy the canals are).

    • @FinnDelMundoTravel
      @FinnDelMundoTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brett! Those are all the sites I went to first in previous travels and then a friend of mine more or less ordered me to get myself down to Xochimilco. It was beyond my expectations and some 👌!! (PS Teotihuacan is my favourite place on Earth). PPS I hope you aren’t melting in the Mazatlan heat😉

    • @bjones9942
      @bjones9942 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FinnDelMundoTravel I'll get to Xochimilco ... I have to save some things for future visits! Lol. Mazatlán is actually pretty cool. Hurricane Enrique rolled past and we got doused with some rain. But it'll warm back up soon!
      There's a really nice hotel right outside the site at Teotihuacan called Villas Teotihuacan Hotel & Spa (the name has changed over the years, but this is it now) www.villasteo.com/ . A little pricy, but they have hot water for showers and are super convenient to getting in to see the pyramids. Their food, other than the nachos, is pretty good too. I usually stay a few nights each time I visit Teotihuacan. Once I stayed in one of the budget places on the perimeter ... thus the reason I mention this hotel has hot water for showers! Lol. I didn't see a video from you on Teotihuacan ... did I miss it? EDIT: One more thing. They used to do a light show on the pyramid of the sun at night. Don't know if you've seen it. If not, LOOK FOR IT if they do it again, and go! It's amazing! You can search youtube for Experiencia Nocturna Teotihuacan - there are some fuzzy videos :) And if you haven't done the hot air balloon over the pyramids, I recommend it. Once is enough, but it's fun!

    All boats are usually female with the exception of the Bismarck a German battleship of WW2 deemed so magnificent that it was a he or a male!!! Not very inclusive 🌈 The ride looked great and so did the food. Thanks to your friend for sharing this time with us. 👍

    • @FinnDelMundoTravel
      @FinnDelMundoTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Give it another 10 years and I predict a whole fleet of blokey boats (trajineras) out there with male names 🤣! Interesting info about the German ship from WW2!
      Usually here the mariachi bands are 100% always male, yet I saw a female lead vocalist out there on the water leading the mariachis last weekend - it was refreshing to see it. Actually it was better than a traditional all male mariachi band, I wish I had filmed it.

      @FinnDelMundoTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for pointing that out, and it’s 100% true I don’t like to eat meat for more reasons than contributing to animal suffering. The video I did in Guanajuato was from June last year and since then I have had some cases where it just hasn’t been possible to stick to this, especially in Mexico where the country has a very traditional mindset. In my first week arriving this year in June I had lost 5kgs trying to stay vegetarian (I have never been vegan) and at that point I realised I couldn’t be this strict or my own health will suffer. With that said I still go out of my way to eat vegetarian for the wellness of animals and the planet. Thanks for watching :)
