  • Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has unveiled six key pledges, which he said will form the first steps towards Labour policy in government. The announcement comes after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak outlined his five main targets last January.
    However, when we asked the public to differentiate between Labour and Conservative pledges, the majority couldn't. Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder question why this is to Shadow Science Secretary Peter Kyle.

    Sure, the economic situation is difficult and you've got to be realistic and adaptive, but all i'll say is that Labour's gotta be aspirational as well, and they've gotta stick to it because the country needs change and Labour's got a record regarding potential policy to fight against.

    The line of questioning was a bit bizarre. I do NOT want a an ideological government that just sells council houses because they ideologically believe it is a good thing. I do want a pragmatic one, I don't see why its a bad thing to say you're not ideological... ?

    • @molsy1768
      @molsy1768 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Because if you're not ideological, then you don't stand for anything. That's his point.
      If ideology isn't a part of the labour leaderships MO, then why should they protect our rights if they stand in the way of GDP growth?
      The line of questioning was bizarre at all. Its bizarre that you think politicians don't need morals to do their job.

    • @Joe22245
      @Joe22245 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      This line of questioning exposes the fact that there is no distinction between the two major parties: they echo the same positions on any given issue while citing their only measurable difference as "competence". It is not pragmatic to state that you hold no ideological position. All this does is further expose the fact that The Labour Party's only goal is power, at the expense of sacrificing every principle the party once stood for. For whatever reason, it is also exactly the kind of neo-liberal fence-sitting that is viewed as successful political strategy in this demented excuse for a country.

      Do you think they would be supporting genocide in Gaza, or Nazis in Kiev, or US aggression around the world, or keep Julian Assange locked up in Belmarsh prison if they had any morals?
      They are without morals, the only thing they care about is lining their own pockets.

    Wait - Starmer has some NEW pledges? I wonder how long they will last. The old ones didn't last very long. "When the landscape changes, the Labour party will adapt" - in other words the pledges mean nothing.
