Thundering sound of the Massed Pipes and Drums marching after the 2022 Dufftown Highland Games

- Drum Major Nick Stables leading the massed Pipes and Drums of Moray and Aberdeenshire, playing on the march through Dufftown for Beating Retreat after the 2022 Dufftown Highland Games. This was on on Saturday 30th July 2022, near the Clocktower in the centre of Dufftown, located in Moray, Scotland. The bands are playing the popular marching set "Farewell to the Creeks" and "Cock o' the North" on a repeat set.
Drum Major Nick Stables is with Dufftown & District Pipe band. The other eight bands taking part were Arberlour Community & District Pipe Band, Ballater & District Pipe Band, Forres and District Pipe Band, Huntly & District Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band, Lonach Pipe Band, Strathisla Pipe Band and Towie Pipe Band. The Drum Majors with the bands include Fraser Dyer, Derek Dean, Neil Jamieson, Mike Munro, Mike Morgan and Ronnie Rennie.

I always love playing in mass bands. It's absolute chaos, and I often get a drone to the face on the turn about, but I always think of 3000 pipers coming over a mountain with the Army and thinking how terrifying that must have been ;p. Thank you for posting!!!

just back from the 2023 Dufftown Games.......I played in 2022...it was a scorcher of a day for playing......if there is ONE Highland Games to go to.....its DUFFTOWN.....2023 was a great games....great crowd.....The Chieftain this year in a splendid red jacket.....a fantastic sight....very dapper......2023....yep that was a games to remember....as a player in the massed bands...its a long day....but ask any of us....we love to do it.....this is a very special games.....made by the crowd....and the massed pipes and drums....see you in Dufftown in 2024.....if you were there in 2022 or 2023.....many thanks.
