    I noticed when you messed up on the reinforcement bars that you put them straight, if you made them slanted making a shape of a triangle they’d be stronger correct? Something to suggest

    • @SirDavothe2
      @SirDavothe2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually most of the force through that bar would be vertical from the coilovers and a horizontal bar at any angle is going to have the same minimal effectiveness.

    • @xxRyanxx414
      @xxRyanxx414 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dani over Okay interesting! I know people with cages mostly do triangles anywhere they can but i wasn’t sure if it was the same concept for his sake

    • @SirDavothe2
      @SirDavothe2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@xxRyanxx414 Triangles are great because they are strong in any direction on their 2D plane. In this case however the principle force does not like up with the 2D plane of the triangle. If you have a triangle sitting on the floor with the point up at the sky and you push it perpendicular to its 2D plane it will fall as easy as any other 2D shape, say a rectangle.

    For future reference, you can bleed by yourself without needing power bleeder. You just need something like a Gatorade bottle and some tubing that fits snugly over the bleeder. Fill the bottle ~1/3 full of water or some other liquid and put the tubing in the bottle so it's fully submerged. Then, hook up the other side of the tubing to the bleeder and attach the bottle to some point on the car. You just need to make sure that the high point of the tubing is higher than the bleeder and the bottle is lower than the bleeder. Crack open the bleeder, make sure the reservoir is full, and go for it. I usually go 10-20 pumps before checking and refilling the reservoir, and go until the brake fluid coming out is clean (per the norm). At least in my experience, this is faster than having a friend help me and it gets great results.

    Should’ve done a 3 link. Much better for handling and drifting. 4 link is better suited to drag racing

    • @Drunken_Hamster
      @Drunken_Hamster 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      4 link is stronger and handles high input load stresses better.

    • @zerohourdrift
      @zerohourdrift 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drunken Hamster still doesn’t handle as well as a properly designed and built 3 link. That’s why American sports cars typically had some sort of 3 link before everyone moved over to irs

    • @Drunken_Hamster
      @Drunken_Hamster 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zerohourdrift Hmm. What do you think about torque arm, then? Or triangulated 4-link? Also, afaik, most solid axle cars were made with just the leaf springs and panhard.

    • @zerohourdrift
      @zerohourdrift 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drunken Hamster leaf springs can be found on trucks and SUV’s. As far as Chevy is concerned, the Camaros and firebirds, as well as most cars like the 90’s caprice, were made with a 3 link rear end, and were also referred to as torque arm... a 3rd gen F-body was capable of .92 G’s in 1987, so I’d say a 3 link is plenty capable lmao... like I said... 4links are better suited to straight line performance, ie drag racing. They don’t handle lateral movement very well, whereas 3links do. It’s common knowledge in the solid axle world that 3 links are better for handling and 4 links are better for drag racing

    After I finish watching...I better find a video about that car... And for the ones that don't know 3:31-3:35 the car on the right.
    Years till mine is done...just got it a few weeks ago, not an easy car to even see...much less own one.
    Now do some suspension for that. Since that's why I'm watching! 😂 Please please please 🙏 Datsun Love!

    Hey bud would you recommend setting this up for a posi locked rear I have started some many different things in because of all my rear end problem I got to check one of the things with the motor in I believe I blowed it up I was made at my self last night in walked away plus 15 degrees last night but been waiting all morning ready to see what I have done I ordered the right lowering blocks but have been wanting to do what you have going on with the 4 link well 5 it. I do have a 8.2 open rear just gotten it done in when I missed up with that I believe I was gotten over on with this new one in now after breaking drive shaft in everything else with the engine possibly being blown in going to take it all apart but this rear is something I can't stop thinking about don't have a lot of money I been wheeling in trading parts I came across a rebuild 307 around 500 miles now I trust this guy in my frist lower truck still has a rebuilt transmission that's out of a 4.3 1500 Silverado I'm going to go with that for now so I know it works now the rear I have to learn a couple things in when I bought this party lock rear I asked this guy do I got to add any more fluid to it or you already topped it off it's good to go he said yes well you f****** lied to me after all the problems I was having and a couple quarts so that's 89/90 what ever it was in even after two quarts still not coming out the the filling hole if u could show me couple things on the rear set up it be cool, so far new set up motor is 1000 but I'm with a three-speed that I can sell don't want it, transmission I paid $300 for the truck a couple years ago wasted a thousand dollar paying somebody to work on it for me cuz I was working full-time two jobs well he f ed me on that so it been put up in new rear so far I'm about 500 into it in believe I may have have somebody look at it and most likely put a front bearing in it cuz that little bit of oil coming out of it Grease I'm assuming from having a pet driveshaft and the kid not telling me the truth about it being complete thanks if you have any advice other than junk in it

      Jarrod G that’s not true. They don’t get into cars because the mass majority of kids these days get new cars like Prius’s or altimas or whatever other crappy sedan or suv you can think of. Said modern cars are built to not need anything besides typical maintenance... kids see cars as a way of getting from point a to point b. There’s no point in modifying them.
      I noticed a trend at my old high school. The kids who bought their own older 90’s cars like Civics or celicas or 240’s or Z’s and shit tended to want to modify and work on them. Everyone else, their parents bought them a new car

    I was going to ask you if you need to do some lateral flanges for the shocks..... but then you mentioned at about 10:10 in the video. I'm glade to hear you are thinking about how your going to stress your chassis in the lateral direction and adding structure to the suspension to deal with those issues! I would maybe added some flanges at the top of the strut mouth too, but that probably is not really that much in danger of bending now that the rest of the suspension is supported.. Great project so far!

    Not gonna lie, having to cut the cross members for the frame bars and the inserts in the video had me dying. One because it was funny and 2 some cap I would do myself

    Please excuse my ignorance, but why take the springs out before the test? So they completely compress?

    I wonder how hard itd be to make a custom set of fiberglass bed sides for the truck
    but then again, you probably want more weight in the bed, less up frontSo fiberglass fenders and hood would be a good idea

    i do like the look of the original tray but seeing the truck with it off makes me wonder how it would look if you fabricated a bed like on a Holden 1 Tonner ...less weight more content?

    Instead of those two bars you cut out, you should make two diagonal ones. From the front two outside corners that meet in the middle of the back cross rail thing.

    I had a bit of an idea watching It for weight in the rear. Why not build like a container for sandbags in the bad so like in the rain it would give you more traction
