- Traveling to northeast India in March of 2019 opened my eyes to what India truly is: a world within a world, and a true melting pot of people, cultures, and religions. The fifteen days I spent exploring the states of Assam and Meghalaya were an adventure I will never forget. I met amazing people, saw breathtaking locations, had wonderful cultural experiences, and ate some of the best food of my life! I’m thrilled that I get to share it with you in this video series.

Still the village cheif house is decoratef with sculls of slain enemy warriors..... Logistics are below par in NE..... Aizawl airport.... Lanqpui airport... Mizoram and manipur has flight connectivity....... Finally a live stream q&a would be great.... Eagerly waiting... My favourite TH-cam channel is.... David been here........ I'm amazed how you gave respect to Assamese Bihuwan. Actually it was never meant to be a Gamusa. Gamusa means something that is used to wash your body. Gamusa is a slang term for Assamese Bihuwan, Bihuwan is a symbol of respect. We offer it to elders, guests to show respect. Thanks for respecting our Bihuwan in a true manner. Assamese people should learn from you.

Ok I have seen too many foreigners struggle with the fish bones. So I will put forth an explanation. As you can see the fish here is not filleted, it's usually cut longitudinally into thick slices. Also most of the fish you would be eating are small freshwater fish, they do tend to have a lot of bones. So the way to go about it is, locate the central bone and then pull pieces around it. And then, to get rid of the smaller bones, just take the pulled out piece and roll it into a ball with your thumb and two fingers. Continue to roll it for some time and you will see the small bones protruding out. Pick them out with your other hand. That's how we do it.

The Geeky Guy americans are not used to bones man. Not their fault, fishes are in the form of fillets here in US. Fish with bones are available in the asian stores but its mostly visited by Asians. Please dont blame him. David is always very adjusting in India. Never complains, always smiling.

@14:45 The dessert is a type of Pitha (this one is Anguli Pitha). Pitha is a class of dessert found in Eastern India and Bangladesh. In my state West Bengal, I had four-five different type of Pitha. I heard from my grand-parents about 40-50 different types of Pitha. However, no one has the time to remember and make those Pithas now and unfortunately those dishes are now slowly disappearing from public memory.
I'm totally eating good food while I watch this but. I'm still wanting to experience everything your eating!
The Bowl in which Desert had been served is known as 'BaanBaati'.... It was included in Royal Ahom families dinner set.

The fried egg plant recipe is very simple. You slice them and marinate the pieces with some salt and turmeric and fry it in some mastard oil. Give it a try if you want. That is one of my favorite dishes too
