Even under Henry's own Anglican law, Elizabeth was conceived out of wedlock. In fact, Henry himself was a bigamist during the time of Anne Boleyn's pregnancy. Henry and Anne were married in January of 1533, but his own Archbishop of Canterbury did not declare the marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled until May. In many circles, being conceived out of wedlock made a person just as illegitimate as being born out of wedlock. In fact, that is the only thing that the Catholics and Lutherans agreed on with respect to Elizabeth. That is also why her half-brother Edward VI disinherited her just as he did his Catholic sister Mary. (But at least Mary had been conceived in wedlock).
Aaaa i have this gcse on thursday, hopefully this one goes well because my other 2 papers were kinda rubbish... but your videos helped me to get a 9 in my elizabeth mock so hopefully i'm able to achieve similarly in the real thing to boost my grade up!! Thank you so so much for your help your videos are really useful for me - from a very grateful year 11 :)
This is so helpful for my GCSE History course revision. Thank you so much, could you also make videos for 'Weimar and Nazi Germany', 'Crime and Punishment' and 'The American West'. Your videos are great for revision
Hi. It's not essential but it does show the examiner you have specific knowledge. I'm hoping to get my timelines up on the website this week, I'll update you when they are
Much appreciated this video has explained and helped me understand about Elizabeth. You have done well making quiet a difficult question seem basic. Gained a sub 😁
Hi Sameerah, I have about a month until we finish Germany. Just before that I will be asking you what you would like me to cover next so keep an eye out for that in my feed.
@@TheHistoryTeacherUK Thank you for replying I need videos on 'Early elizabthen england' (which you have, it would be nice if you do more of how to answer few more essays), 'crime & punishment' and 'Russia & Soviet Union'. It would be nice if upploaded as soon as possible since we have GCSEs this May. Thank you!
How will everyone be insulted if she marries Robert Dudley? I am a little confused because you said that Robert Dudley is popular but then you said he is at a very low rank??
kameljeet gaddu damn, I know I am like a year late but everybody will be insulted because Robert Dudley was English. The Spanish and the French will be offended because they will believe that England does not think they are good enough to have links with England. Robert Dudley was very popular but not in power
I thought one of the biggest problems Elizabeth faced on coming to the throne was finances. Her treasury was severely depleted- particularly given the war with France and the coinage debased.
This is such an idealised impression of Elizabeth - but I guess, it is GCSE. Elizabeth wasn't that great & most of her decisions were made by Cecil who was de facto ruler instead of her. She was known for being temperamental, indecisive, emotional and prone to having fits.
im using these videos as revision and this video alone taught me better than school
So true!
