2023 M10B A barrel was my favorite bottle of the year. Loved it so much I traded for 3 additional A barrel bottles for the bunker. Everyone has their individual likes and dislikes, but I certainly lean towards Josh’s palate.
The biggest surprise of the year for me was the Michter’s US*1 Unblended American Whiskey. I actually wanted to buy the Small Batch Bourbon, but I accidentally picked it up on the shelf and didn't notice it until I got home. But apparently some things don't happen without reason, because I actually liked the American Whiskey even more than the bourbon and it has become my favorite Michter's product. The taste and flavors, despite the low proof, are simply amazing.
Agree with Josh's comment that this year's M10B is one of the best sub 95-100 proof pours I've had but, at anything more than MSRP, I would be disappointed with this bottle. Michter's does do incredible things with low proof whiskey and this bottle is full of flavor but don't think it would be worth the going rate on secondary (to me). Cracked one of their '22 barrel strength ryes a few weeks ago and it might be my favorite rye right now...she is THICCCC. Cheers!
I have the 2020 version had to hide the purchase when I got it. The Rye is tasty. Check with your California peeps. I saw a ton of allocated bottles in Northern California
2023 M10 bourbon is apparently 15 year brown forman product. It's nicknamed KOK junior or KOK lower proof. Definitely lots of variation on their single barrels.
Great review! I also heard that the 2023 releases of both the 10 year bourbon and rye are fantastic. I will be in search of these throughout the year and let's hope for some luck! Thanks for the video!
Nice one, just tried the 2023 M10 as well - I was expecting to like it more based on all the hype but I will say that I am hoping to grab a bottle because you never know if these are going to be as good in the coming years. It would be my first and last bottle of M10 and would be happy to have it I think.
Literally tastes like it’s 18 years IMO. I tasted 2022 GTS after it and felt like the GTS smelled and tasted brighter and younger in comparison. Preferred the proof and overall experience of GTS more but from a pure flavor profile perspective the 2023 M10 is tops.
@@stuffandwhiskey 💯 percent! 2023 M10 was in the wheelhouse of a M20 (M20 is a bit oakier). GTS is a great pour, still trying to snag a bottle but will grab a pour at a bar when I see it.
Curious what the barrel was of 2023 you had, heard the 23A’s might be better. Recently bought a 23D, haven’t opened it yet. Thought about getting a pour somewhere, that’s not a 23A.
The Remus Repeal Reserves are great alternatives for sure! Not up to 2023 M10 standards but then again almost nothing else is save a pour of Parker’s Heritage Promise of Hope we’ve tried.
3 hours up 65 and get a 2023 at Michter’s Fort Nelson, well worth the drive. Is anything worth the price charged these days? Some bottles are, and this Michter’s 10 definitely qualifies.
I can't. I just can't. I will absolutely admit that I've spent $200 on a bottle of I.B. scotch with no regret and with FAAAAR less information as to it's contents. But as far as I've experienced, the bourbon flavor wheel is just narrower and smaller in comparison, and the breadth of prices for the smaller differences in bourbon is something I absolutely can't get behind. We all know producers don't need to make $200 back on a bottle, scotch or bourbon, to be able to make money. Is this 2.5x's better than an Elijah Craig Barrel Proof? Is it EVEN better???
Good point on the flavor spectrum even if it’s apples vs oranges or hamburger vs steak when it comes to bourbon vs Scotch. When I want a hamburger, a steak just won’t cut it no matter how good it is. That said, GREAT question regarding ECBP. It’s a different flavor profile and a ton more proof so hard to compare. We did have some 2022 George T Stagg after having this and despite being the high proof fan that I am, I preferred the flavor profile of the M10 better.

Absolutely love the M10s, the rye the best. The BS rye and TBSR are fantastic as well.

The exact same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. The Unblended American is the only Michter's bottle I currently have.
M10 2023 is amazing. I have a bottle that I give pours to friends who are new to whisky. So complex for such a low proof

It tastes every bit of 16-18 years old!
I was lucky enough to grab this years M10 and I agree! Amazing pour.

M10 has never disappointed me. What they do with low proof is pretty amazing.

glad you enjoyed that single barrel, too, josh!!
Yes Erin, I've said it for years now.... You are a professional whiskey taster.... She finally admitted it.... PRAISE JESUS ❤️🙏
I had a pour of their small batch and liked it. The caramel nose was great.
Another great , fun, and informative video!
Great call Josh! The 2023 M10 is 🔥🔥. Drinks much older than a 10 yr pour.

I think there was an M10 at a local store that just sold a few weeks ago. But they're $299 around here. I can't see the fascination.
Agree with josh, this years M10b is great! I had it at a bar and wish I could get a bottle😢
Still on the hunt for my first bottle of M10. When I see it I'll pick it up at least 1 time for $200.00
Definitely target a 2023 release if at all possible.
You’re opening makes me wish I had popcorn. 🍿 This should be good…

Great question. We're not sure honestly. We've heard nothing but good things about every 2023 bottle. They all seem to be some variation of amazing!
Hey there Josh and Erin! Always love these double blind head to heads! I need your help. I have been wanting a couple lower proof bourbons (
The Remus Repeal Reserves are great alternatives for sure! Not up to 2023 M10 standards but then again almost nothing else is save a pour of Parker’s Heritage Promise of Hope we’ve tried.
Erin, which rye do you typically buy? Loved the reactions in this video by the way.
Sagamore Double Oak and Hard Truth High Road are the two favorites at the moment. Both so good!
I’m scared I bought the wrong one… mine is
23F2184 on the label … please advise
From what we’ve heard everyone that’s tried a 2023 bottle has loved it!
I’ve only had Michters American Whiskey. Am I sleeping on their rye? I usually go for New Riff or Sagamore
Their rye is almost always better than their bourbon in our book. We love New Riff and Sagamore too though.
At $200, it breaks all the price rules - low proof and $20 per year of age? I couldn't do it.
It's older than 10 years
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Beside the BT Kosher wheat I sent I feel like I’m striking out with pours I send lol
This one was just up against a monster in the 2023 release. And we’ve got a few we know we’ll love. The blind pool is ruthless on timing.
Where's the Kingdom & Will link?
Doh, fixed! It’s kingdomandwill.com (code: STUFF). Thanks for catching the omission!
Thanks Josh and Erin.. Just love that shirt and want to check it out. 🙂Great episode too.. keep up the good work.. @@stuffandwhiskey
Can not wait to see Erin's face when price is reveled. 😅
Will you guys be watching Ohio State beat Notre Dame Saturday night?
Erin approves this comment. 😆
Great game!
I'll stick with the Small Batch! Thank you!
