Living through you Jason C. I’ll probably never see it but I can taste it with your taste description. Thank you. Good advice on the splurge bottle comment. I splurge on 2 or 3 per year. Still haven’t gone for this, think I’d rather have a RR13
Russell's 13 is by far a better choice for a splurge bottle. Barrel proof, and since it's batched you don't have to worry about getting a lesser bottle due to single barrel variation.
Thanks Jason! U just saved me the trouble of tracking down a 2024 M10 bottle. I don't like to drink toasted marshmellows! Besides, I'd never see it for
Fantastic review Jason. I would love to have a Michter's 10 yr on my shelf to sip but will never see it locally. I guess I will stick with KC 12yr. Keep up the great work.
Finally had a chance to try this back to back with Bookers little book and while this was great...I think little book blew it away. Little book had so much more flavor, higher proof and the flavors hung around longer.
So glad I grabbed one last year, got the 2340053 bottle and have about 2/3 of it left, and at the price I sip it sparingly. Really good bottle 🤌🏻 But I don’t think I’ll chase this year’s. Good stuff, cheers! 🥃
That's probably 23A -- the third place is a letter indicating the month it was bottled (Jan = A, Feb = B, etc.). The A's were supposed to be top-notch.
My biggest problem with the Michter's 10 year releases is the degree of variation from one barrel to another. For the price, every barrel needs to be a hitter, and I've tried several that are good but not "wow" -- including my bottle of 2023 M10B (an "E" Barrel).
Hey Jason, love the M10s, glad to see it’s another banger year for them. I have to disagree slightly on the “below average value”. You brought out HH18, which is around $1k on secondary where M10 is $300-350 (I’m comparing secondary cause MSRP is hard to get). If those are even closely comparable then M10 wins easily on value. Secondly, Michter’s uses such low barrel entry proof that their yield has got to be low. Which commands a higher price. I clearly have no problem with their pricing! 😂
I usually agree with your assessments, but M10 is an auto buy for me below $250. You mentioned that you actually like it better then HH18, which lines up for me as well. Michter’s has a lower yield due to low entry proof, so in my opinion the higher price is justified by the process.
This used to be near the top if not the top of whiskies I would love to have and thought I’d have a chance to find. However, at $185 I’m gonna pass now. Maybe a friend will find a bottle and willing to spring for it that I can try. I’m out.
Why wouldn't it apply? Also they're probably contract distilled rather than strictly sourced. Whatever the case, they're still putting new make into barrels per Michter's specifications.
Love this review!! I tried Michters 10 at a bar and it’s 🔥. Question: if it’s sourced from Brown-Forman, would it still have the signature low entry proof?
Yes. Even sourced I believe they made it with their specific asks. Probably not the 20 and 25 year expressions though. Tried to find out and they are just tight lipped about everything
@@sharonschmeederjohnson4648 Some folks say Old Fo 1924 10 yr is over priced.. Maybe not compared to this years M10. Super curious and thought it would make a great Episode. Thanks for the comment. Jason C, thanks for bring us all the great content.
I am gonna get this bottle with $300 from a local shop. I barely see this bottle from any shops or it costs like $400+........... I will just get one with $300.
I hate to say this, and I hope you don’t have the same experience, but my 2020 was a straight up drain pour. No joke, I powered through half the bottle then dumped the rest. I was very, very hesitant to pick up the 2023 when I found it for less than srp ($169) but I do really enjoy it.
@shredward666 oh no man! I hope not they are single barrels hahaha but I guess we will see. I went to Louisville and traded what would have been a little over 200 dollars (my spent price) for it. However the old lady and I were able to score a bottle your own, and a bombergers at the distillery. Then we hit the Frazier history museum and they have a old forester single barrel barrel proof. So if I swing and miss on the M10 I still have a couple others to hopefully make up for it. Thanks for your input I have been trying to get info. I have too many bottles open right now to Crack that one. I will soon though! Thanks again and happy hunting!
The 2020 I tried drank about 40’clams worth terrible for the price. I’ve always been sour on michters for the inconsistency over the years 2023 was a hitter for most bottle but other years really fall off
@bourbonbill well that sucks! I was excited because I don't get anything but buffalo trace stuff in my small town. So I have to trade or take an hour drive to Louisville to get anything
@@brettmchan2855Yea they’re all single barrel, and I’m almost certain I got a bad barrel. There’s no way every ‘20 would be like that. It was a musty, sour oak on the finish that was awful.
I thought the same until I tried a dram at a restaurant bar on Father's Day... Top 3 whiskey I've ever had... Complex nose and palate... Big finish... Drinks WAY above the 94 proof. Blew $299 the next week when I tracked a bottle down. I know some will think I'm crazy... Worth every dollar.
You keep talking in the review about the low entry proof and “Michter’s is extremely careful about their maturation process” in reference to the two bourbons you’re drinking. Yet, we all know this is sourced. I’ve had many of these and the last few years do seem like BF juice. That said, these are just over 10, not way over
Last years was 14 years old. In bourbon, that's a lot. Even though it's sourced it could have been put in a barrel at there specifications. Michters has been around for a while.
Look, I understand that the juice is good. What I don't get is how they charge practically $18 a year for sourced whiskey. There's way too many 10 year bourbons on the market that are more affordable. Is it really that good or are we just suckers who are letting FOMO and allocation rule our wallets?
As consumers, we are accepting the high prices buying these bourbons. Thank goodness there are still great budget bourbons. I even do not understand why many people accept that $10 per year rule as something normal. Thinking that way, prices will continue to get higher at a very fast pace. Just my humble opinion.
Buddy gave me a sample of his M10 (not sure which bottle) but it finished disappointingly thin. Might have been the proof but I was def hoping for more.
My brother picked me up a bottle at MSRP at Total Wine today and a Weller 12!
On point review Jason! This years Michter’s 10 is phenomenally rich!
Loved last year's and can't wait to get this year's !!

Great video! Doing a tour next month with them.
I got the 23 last year. I’ll be content with that. I grabbed the barrel proof Rye this year and am very happy with that
I prefer the Barrel Strength! For the algorithm!
awesome honest review. Would love to try. thanks for sharing cheers
Hopefully I can find a bottle this year. It's been 4-5 years since I found one and that was at fort Nelson. Keep up the good reviews Jason!
Nice review and hope to find one as I love some Michters. Also, That’s a solid dent in the HH18 already.
Unfortunately, good luck trying to find it
Love trying Michters 10 at bars instead of committing to the on the full price.
Missed it at distillery by a day. I will keep looking cheers and thanks for the review 🥃👋👍

On the hunt for this and the 10yr rye.
Appreciate the review
I get coffee bean on the finish of brown forman offerings on many occasions. Delicious.
Nice review! Picked one up today for 200.00 very nice

Love your recommendation. Knob Creek 12Yr is one of my favorite!

I was able to snag 5 bottles of 2023 Weller 12 over the course of a few months and for the price of this bottle sooooo I'm good.
Flex alert
Great review! One of my favorites
“Chances are it could be or it won’t be.” Couldn’t have said it better myself.
🎵No you’re never gonna get it…🎵 no yo never gonna get it…🎶
Great Review! Beautiful details sir!❤
M10 might be the best low proof premium Bourbon out there
Jason, where can I buy me one of those dope mash and drum glen cairns?

Cool review, I think 🤔 that you should always mention alternatives 👍🏾
What's a good peerless bourbon for a beginner that doesn't like the heat
Another good video 👍

Hey Jason, I would love to see a double bass with the Michter’s 10 and a 1910 (or a JD double barreled rye)
Haven't even seen one yet!
Im holding at $100 under 100 proof and $10 per year max. Plenty of stuff that may be as good that fits those perimeters.
You should double bass Tin Cup 10 year vs the 24 M10.

Jason, do you believe the rye is also sourced from a distiller rhyming with Town Norman?
do you think the old pirate bottles or stagg jr b12 are better? maybe a double bass
Can you please do a review of Michters us-1 barrel strength bourbon?? (Not the Rye) 🙂
Whiskey prices are nuts. A 10 year age statement over $100 is outrageous.
Especially watered down to 94pf
Always great honest reviews!
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎

I feel like a good alternative is the new james e. Pepper barrel proof that came out earlier this year.
They need to up the proof for that price. I know they have low barrel entry proof but does that even apply to these sourced bottles?

You the man Jason!! Thank you for your awesome reviews
Would you do a double base with M10 and old Forester 10 year?
Wow, that would be so interesting. I can never find The Michters 10, but I always have a bottle of old Forester 1910 at my bar.

Can anyone tell me how the 2020 stacks up to this one or last year's M10. I just got my first M10 last weekend and it's a 2020

No way I'm spending $185 (and potentially way more) for a sourced bourbon bottled at 94 proof. I know everyone loves Michter's and they can have it.
I agree. That’s frickin’ ridiculous. Michter’s can jam it.
😂😂

Skip. Tired of $200 single barrels when one series carries so much from another within the same year
Ok I'm not chasing this one. Your description makes it sound like EC TB for $45 lol
Don't waste my time in Texas w/ Michters 10. They send so few to the state and never to Fort Worth!
Then don’t waste your time by watching 😊
@bamit1515 No one likes a Whiskey TROLL!
HH18 vs M10? Why?
The HH 18 is 300 bucks and higher proof and I think the M10 is better. Curious
Buddy gave me a sample of his M10 (not sure which bottle) but it finished disappointingly thin. Might have been the proof but I was def hoping for more.
I've mostly felt this way about Michters up until last year. But yes...the low proof doesn't help
Huge skip for me, the price hike and insistency across barrels something has to improve for me to return.
Very nice but very overpriced,I’ll take the 10 year rye any day
First!
1st loser! Go tell your mommy little girl 😂
Michters 10 is not a single barrel
Sorry, done chasing these overpriced allocations. Too much great bourbon at reasonable prices.
Not even going to chase it at that ridiculous price. 👎🏻
