“I have a long and narrow yard that is approximately 50 feet wide at the start, 100 feet long, and 25 feet wide at the end. I don’t think a circular layout would work for containment. Can I place the boundary markers outside the fence? At what distance from the boundary do the warning signals start for the dog-5 feet or 10 feet? I need this information because my yard is quite narrow. Thank you!”
There can definitely be more boundary drift in wooded/forested land. Still works, but not as consistent. Wireless can experience interference with trees as well.
I would appreciate a better explanation of the “cellular subscription” you referred to when describing the Halo collar. Does this mean we have to have a working cell phone or is this an another subscription we would need on top of the collar price? Sorry i’m not as tech savvy as I should be. 😏
This is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but if I buy this, can i "pause" the warnings through the app or the collar so i can quickly.put a leash on her and take her outside the boundary? Or do i have to take the spot on collar off and put a standard collar on?
These all use apps that connect to WiFi? Because that’ll be useless for me since I live in the mountains where satellite systems are not reliable and we have lots of blackouts specially in winter when I’ll need it most because of snow accumulation which makes it easier for them to jump out of the existing fence.
Hey there, I want a collar that will give a negative feedback only if my dog approaches the garage door in order not to leave the garden, which product would you reccomend? Thanks :)
Given the small area, an in-ground fence might be the way to go (doesn't necessarily have to be burried). Or you could use keep-out zones with SpotOn and make the fence boundaries much larger than your yard.
In less that a year an a half I've been through 6 collars. The internal battery comes loose inside. Then the collar is useless. It's not for working dogs where 12 hrs a day of use it used. It will last 4 months tops I have video review on my channel.

You can, it just means that the collar will treat the boundary where you set it. For SpotOn for example, they start at 10 feet from the boundary.
how good would the spoton work with a Siberian husky due to their coats of fur?
Should work, you'll want to use the longer prongs if you use the static correction.
How’s the GPS work with wooded/forested land? That’s why I’m leaving mining towards wireless.

Yes, it is another subscription you need on top of the collar price.

You can turn the fences on and off, yes.

The SpotOn has an "off-grid" mode which may help in your scenario. but for the most part yes they do.
So even for about a 5k square ft yard you still recommend not using Halo? And just use either of the Petsafe systems?
I would indeed say that the PetSafe wireless products will hold the boundary more reliably in those smaller areas.

Can you please review pawtronics gps collar?
I will make a note!

Sorry to hear! Which collar have you been using?
Spot on
How many dogs can you have on a wireless fence?
Deoends on the product. GPS fences are 1 for each dog, PetSafe wireless can have unlimited on each system - each dog just needs a collar.
