- Welcome to another Arduino project video! Today we are going to build an Arduino Breathalyzer. It is a device that senses alcohol in the air and prints the value it reads on the display. We use an MQ-3 gas sensor along with an I2C OLED display on an Arduino Mega. It is a very easy project to build, it won't take us more than 10 minutes. There is a lot to cover so let's get started!

Your videos have gotten me started in the lcd screens! Awesome help! Thank you very much for posting on youtube! Great way to learn!!! You're awesome!
Thank you very much Victor!
Really super useful, thank you very much. I had no idea it took 15 minutes to warm up :)
You present things very simply.
This should be put in every cars. This can significantly reduce accidents from drunk driving. Now you just have to make it that if Breath analyzer detect that you have too much alcohol the car won’t start
good job and nice channel
thank you so much

How did you set the warming time? once is turned off for more than 4 hours, when i'll turn on, the value of ppm i can read on the monitor is the same or it resets the value of ppm to the initial value? thx
can you give me the formula be converted into alcohol concentration from the value shown on the screen ?
Hi Nick,
Could you please do a tutorial which connects the MQ2 gas sensor to the i2c OLED like this one?
Thanks,
Karl
where can i find the library for the lcd please
can i have a link ?
thanks
where can i find the library for the lcd please
Can I use an ELEGOO UNO breadboard for this project and does the OLED screen need to be connected to the breadboard
can i display alcohol percentage instead? may i ask what is the value displaying in lcd?
bro...i purchased mq3 alcohol sensor..but it is grove sensor...this project doesnt work...does it make any difference
is there any way we could check the quality of beer using any kind of sensors?....a little would be appreciated, thank u
Hi do you have any code for pic microcontroller based program for alcohol sensor
Is there an example using the esp32 with I2C 1602 serial LED
Great stuff. Any chance you could build a speedometer based on these components: arduino, i2c oled, gps module. It would be great if you could?
Mikolaj1406 I have many ideas in mind. I am going to play with GPS modules soon. Thanks!
Ok, I know you were first in line to test this out!
can i know how to constuct the circuit
can u provide the schematic diagram for this project please?
Hi Nick,
My code has just complied and I have received and error:
exit status 1
'long unsigned int time' redeclared as different kind of symbol
Please can you or the community fix this problem. Your help is kindly appreciated.
Thanks
hii educ8c.tv are there other sensors which take lesser time to warm up
can i know wht compiler used to compile the code
Can I switch the OLED for a lcd display ?
Is it possible to provide an explanation of how to connect the wire
What do you mean by "not accurate at all"? is it about the method, or the sensor?
Can I have circuit diagram as well as block diagram ?
Can you use a MQ2 sensor isntead of this MQ3 sensor?
900s to warm up? Is this correct?
Do you know what unit it measure in
can i use mq3 in any arduino
Does it really require 15 minutes to warm up?
Can it be set to about 60 seconds or less?
The datasheet actually says preheat time is 48h :D You can set it in the code to whatever you'd like, but measurement might not be super precise.

can I use it in arduino uno
What kind of readings do you get from the MQ3? I see that they're not Blood Alcohol Content (BAC).
Carlos Natareno It is plain analog value from 0 to 1023. You have to calibrate the sensor in order to convert this value to BAC. (Calibration of this sensor is extremely difficult.)

hey i am doing similar project and i wanted to add a buzzer so that it will ring if the person is drunk so can u plz provide me code and the circuit to connect the buzzer to audrino
were doing the same can you help me for the code?
Where can I get the circuit diagram
how to simulation part draw to simulated this project plies guide me
you can tell me if this sensor can be bypassed, if the driver use a balloon with "good" breath?
Dear Lord. XD
Hi there, does this only work with arduino Mega, or does ardunio Uno work aswell?
hey billy. I hope you did find an answer to ur question about whether it works with arduino uno or not. if so, can u provide me with an answer? thak u
Can the sensor detect alcohol in deodorant too for demo purpose ?
actually this sensor detects the ethanol content so if yours deo has ethanol content so yes it can detect
hi.im building this project and im facing this problem: Im getting random results and reaching to various levels without breathing unto the sensor.pls help me thank you.
hey jazz. im doing the same project. can u tell me if this video works? and how did u mange to solve the random results. thank u
if I want to make this as my project .how to make this run only using a battery as a power supply?
Shahier Aimi attach a 9v battery into the vin.. the on board rectifier will reduce the input voltage to the 5v.. alternatively, and somewhat safer to preserve in the onboard rectifier is to build a simple 5v reg circuit.. check a data sheet for its config.. then connect that across the 5v and gnd
Chris Chivers I have done it using power jack but it does not stay long
Are the values of alcohol level in mV or ppm ?
these are just analog values(0-1023) for ppm or any other units u need to calibrate it
can u provide the schematic diagram for this project....
can this project be done using arduino uno...
tillu senie Yes, it can be done with Uno as well.
educ8s.tv can i have the scemathic draw.cause it easy to me to connect all the wire.
i need ur help plz help me i need circuit
Can i use the MQ-3 gas sensor to detect cigarretes smoke ? I want to detect cigar smoke by using the breathalyzer method. And does the MQ-7 gas sensor (carbon monoxide) works as breathalyzer ?
Hafiz Saffri // Are you sure that cugarette smoke even has a bit of carbon-monoxide
I can use arduino nano yes/no
Yes of course
can i use arduino uno?
Sure!
Is Arduino Uno compatible with it
how can I make it accurate?

please the code
the youtube is good for waching me but the code and implmentashion stap is not clear pleas stap by stap add the youtube
Hi!!!!
do you have the code?
c:
+Susana Rodriguez You can find the code in link in the description of the video!
WHERE IS THE PROGRAM LINK ...PLZZ SEND ME
When it shows you the little blurb about the video, click 'more' and scroll down a bit and it will show you the link
Can I know how you determine the alcohol level by setting those numbers ?
Why those numbers ?
I think it use ANN
what is that ?
the code didn't work
hey am doing a project similar and the deadline is in a week, can u please help me out by providing a schematic diagram for this project
+shihab Al zakwani Hello I don't have one but you make your own easily with fritzing.
Automatic engine lock of drunk and drive using arduino of mq3 sensor I need a circuit and code
Same question

The link is now working!
thank you for your speed
500 and "You are drunk"? :P
I would get totally wasted while building such thing myself
