- I try to read A Christmas Carol once a year. It's a brilliant tale and I think it would be a great tonic for anyone feeling a bit low after the year we've had. It's a message of hope and redemption, beautifully written by Dickens at the height of his powers.
This was one of the first books I recorded in my studio at home back in 2011. I love it. I cannot recommend it enough. Maybe pour a whisky or have a mug of cocoa!

Incredible! I blasted through all of your Holmes reading over the past weeks and was sad that I ran out of stories- then I thought that I should start reading Dickens next and found myself wishing there was a version read by you. ONE VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT OF READINGS LIKE THESE IS BY BRITONS WHO PRONOUNCE ENGLISH WORDS PROPERLY. LIFTING MY SPIRIT IS SO TRUE FOR EVEN NOW IN JUNE I LOVE LISTENING TO THIS GREAT STORY!!

Great idea! I can only do one at a time. But maybe over the Christmas holidays it makes sense to do that one. I certainly think it's a great work and should (yes, should) be heard by everyone at least once! (And I moan about tyrants and tyranny! - hypocrite!!!). And quite nice to just leave it one when you get sick to death of Perry Como or Lady Gaga.
