Man, I can’t begin to tell you how happy seeing a new video of yours makes me. I check every single day to make sure you haven’t dropped a new one, just in case my notifications don’t work. I can’t thank you enough for the joy I’ve felt over the years, losing myself in the remarkable storytelling that you have mastered like no other. All the same, thank you so very much for the time and effort you have put into these classics, and for sharing your gift with us all.
Thank you so very much. I love your narrations. U have a wonderful voice and a great sense of humour. It’s a gift to listen to you, it’s like having a friend by just clicking a button 🤗
I actually screamed when I saw this in my subscriptions. To have the voice of my favorite reader accompanying the words of my favorite author is a joy. Thank you.
Your narration raises the level of even the most mundane stories. Father Brown does tend to move along at a slow pace sometimes. An expat listening in S Florida.
Everytime I start to complete a collection of works or an author on this channel you introduce something else spectacular. I've gone from Sherlock Holmes, to the entire Sir Arthur Conan Doyle works (that took me a bit) and now G.K Chesterton's Father Brown. Great job as always.
I think this was chosen as the first story in the book to serve as a huge THIS ISN'T SHERLOCK HOLMES, THIS IS SOMETHING BETTER! sign 😂 What a great parody! Including the grim atmosphere and the musings about Celtic imagination, allusions to The Hound of the Baskervilles. But of course the original Sherlock Holmes wasn't as fixated on details as this story makes it sound 😊 To me, this isn't one of the weaker stories, it's one of my favourites. Thank you so much for recording it!
Awesom! I just adore your vocal intonation! It is so calming & assured but also reminds me of all the ACD stories that have embedded in my bones. Your uploads are celebrated, dearly! Thank you so much! 🎉❤
Wonderful, another Father Brown story! I agree that this one isn't G.K.'s finest offering, but it's still rather fun and any Father Brown outing is fine by me. Frankly you could read the phone book (were it still to exist) and it would sound glorious. Now there's challenge! Ha!
Fabulous narration as ever, thank you! This story had such a well written and thoroughly captivating start. I'm not going to spoil it for future readers, so I'll just say that the ending was: 🤔 (if you get my meaning). Still enjoyed it though.👍
GREG: He had eaten food before his absence was noticed so the natural question to ask in such a situation would be, "Was the Glass full or half empty?"
Its kinda douch but its fun. I like it. Other classics I've found annoying saying basic things in a pedantic way but this guys kinda confusing I don't fully get his agenda. Pretty cool

Very well said! 👏🏻
Bravo!
"A terrible tidiness." Economical, yet elegantly expressive! And, of course, there's that velvet voice. You're back in the saddle again, GW. Huzzah!!!
Just about back in the saddle! Ointment at the ready! 🦤🎈
....and brush up the velvet!
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audioYour sense of humor is such a treasure! Dodo bird indeed ☺️
Just discovered your Father Brown stories by G K Chesterton. Thank you. ❤
Welcome!
Thanks
Cheers! Good of you!

Pleasure, Marta. Yes, I was quick to judge! Always a danger. Thank you for your thoughts on the matter. Cheers Greg
Welcome back Greg, it's good to hear you.
Thanks Maria. Good to be back!!
Greg is an extended member of my family. Love the content.
This is one of my favs! The end is very funny 😂
Thank you for uploading this delightful story. I love the mischievous denouement.
Me too! Is is rather fun - and a somewhat cautionary tale about experts and our reliance on them. Possibly!
Ha! What an unexpected tale from 1914... If I had to make a blind guess who wrote this I would have guessed *Saki* ... As always *Thanks Greg*

Fantastic hearing from you, Greg. Will catch the reading at work tomorrow.
Thank you as always.
Mahe Ohna ✌️ Favour ALL

Like all Father Brown stories.
Thank you so much.

Thank you for the new upload.
Currently listening to A Study in Scarlet but love the G K Chesterton stories ❤
Glad you like them!
Yay, a new Father Brown story! ❤
We've been Starving! ! !
i liked this pun "terrible tidiness not unlike the terrible tide-iness of the sea" xd
Thanks for pointing it out. I hadn't noticed. I fear a lot detail and nuance goes over my head - but not all! Possibly!
That was a fun story!
Father Brown 🤎 and Greg Wagland ❤
Thank you! That was fun 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love that story. Could not have been performed more effectively. Not an easy task,I’m sure.
Oooh, that's a great one! 😅

This was sooo good! I absolutely adore these father Brown stories! Please please tell me there is still more? ❤
I think so! There's tons!
Oh yay 😁❤.. Just seen you posted another oneeeee! Gonna take dog out then snuggle up with him in bed and have a listen 😊
nice
Mis-ta-Glass! 😅 👏 👏 👏
GREG: He had eaten food before his absence was noticed so the natural question to ask in such a situation would be, "Was the Glass full or half empty?"
Bravo 👏🏼 Well played.
It's so nice to see someone remember the foreward mentioned in the 2nd publication! Well done!
Maybe it's me but he seems to be parodying Conan Doyle...a very nice reading
Could be!
Dr. Hood has a bit of SH characteristics 🤔😃
The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree. 😅
I was thinking the same thing! 😉
I think the whole story was intended as one big joke aimed at Sherlock Holmes 😊
