    • @RustyCraftKnife
      @RustyCraftKnife 4 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      It looks like you would just be able to flip the wheel around as well, no major engineering to fix this.
      Maybe the car was too unbalanced with them out of phase?

    • @musthavechannel5262
      @musthavechannel5262 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Yep, exactly. One of the crank needs to attach to the top of the rim while the other attaches to the bottom.

    • @skeetsmcgrew3282
      @skeetsmcgrew3282 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@RustyCraftKnife That's my thought. I'm also thinking with the way it walks that this would double the speed but also double the amount of strain on each leg. This way there's always two legs firmly on the ground

    • @user-lu6zz1hc8p
      @user-lu6zz1hc8p 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That would make the car move at least 2 times faster

    • @rhfolder2
      @rhfolder2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      180 degree rim attachments will not work.. with rotation, the moving parts of the two legs will hit each-other and get stuck.

    15:07 it's because this type of walking system is supposed to work with the leg of the same axle 180° degree apart in the rotation (with the eventually front legs at the same 180° degree "distance" but swapped, if the rear in in the rear position on 0° the forn thave to be on 180°, same in the rear, if left is 180° in rotation right have to be at 0°, sorry for the bad english, i'm italian >

      It's also meant to have many sets of legs, all offset from one another by some amount. No matter if the legs are 180 degrees offset or not, I don't think two legs would ever work quite right.

    You have to offset the timing on the legs to walk forward smoothly.
    Try moving the wheel studs over one hole, on one side.
    This will help it walk better and put far less stress on the parts.
    As long as you don't have to turn, you could probably make it 4X4 or even 6X6 by transferring the power between the "wheels" the same way they do on a locomotive.
    Just mount more legs and connect them with steel rods. Crazy, but it might work.

    Cool project! The geometry is slightly off, but they know it.
    I'd love to see this thing walk at 10x the speed, that would really give it some impact. 5th gear with some revs! If they fix the geometry so it walks a little smoother that would be possible!

    The feet needing to be off the ground don't clear the ground enough. If there was a way to retract the legs on the lift would make it better.

    Engineering something that turns simple rotation of the drive wheels into...that...is seriously brilliant. If I was asked if such a thing was possible I would have said no - never considering how an offset could make it work. Makes me wonder what that engineer could do if he was given serious funding and resources...if he can turn a Lada into a walker using scrap I can't imagine the crazy stuff he could cook up at some state-funded design bureau.

    Those legs need a third offset to counter some of that roleback, plus the the legs need some ability to counter turn to prevent snapping. But that is cool, engineering is the ultimate universal languange and it aamazing to see crazy stuff built in other countries. Can"t wait to see more.
