      It’s to be expected when you hire a bunch of kids with massive amounts of testosterone, fuel them up with as many drugs as you possibly can to keep them docile enough to pay them minimally, not mandate any company policy on behavior and then put them on a international flight with endless amount of alcohol. Not to mention the drugs they already had. I’m actually surprised the plane didn’t crash. If anybody should be held responsible, Vince should be priority number one. He was the one hiring these doctors that would feed the wrestlers any drugs they wanted in any amounts. Ruined a lot of their lives, then ditches them like they never existed. Vince is just very lucky that nobody died on his watch, because had they in an investigation had been launched especially if they found drugs in their system, it would’ve been game over for the WWF/WWE.

      @@sacredsteeler I don't know who the "jewelry thief" you are talking about is, but I lost respect for Cornette on my own solely because of his stubborn staunch defense of the world of kayfabe that, in my firm belief, is what led to incidents like this. Back in the 80s and before, people like Ric Flair were told they had be their wrestling persona 24/7, and this led to guys like Flair never being told that there has to be a time when you dial it back once the ring lights go off. Ric Flair acted like Ric Flair on that flight because by this point in his life he didn't know how to be anything else. And there is no doubt in my mind there were several incidents far worse than this back in the 80s NWA that we'll never know about, yet Cornette keeps defending the very culture that bred such disasters. This is WHY kayfabe need to die for good and all, this is why wrestlers need to be allowed to be their own selves away from the ring and wrestling fans need to accept it. And thankfully there are a growing number of wrestlers today who understand that, including Ric Flair's own daughter. I'd much rather know my favorite stars are spending their downtime playing video games than getting drunk and looking for cheap sex every night.

    • @Matt-cr4vv
      @Matt-cr4vv ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It really does suck for JR. Not much he can do to control that fiasco realistically. So having to answer for it and hold some accountability for it because of his job as the VP of Talent Relations sucks for him. This doesn’t fall on him because he realistically doesn’t have the control to do so but some of the glaring issue is just the clear double standard for punishment of the behavior on the flight.
      Obviously top tier names get away with more than others which is applicable to most anything honestly. But I think the punishments that were levied was a black eye coming out of the events. Hennig and Lesnar wrestle, albeit started by Hennig, which gets Hennig released and Lesnar faces no punishment. Scott got released which makes sense - his substance issues had him on a short leash the moment he came in so that one I get. Goldist was fined which I think was fair. But obviously the black eye is Ric who apparently faced no punishment at all. But the disparity of discipline is one of the tough things with this. Two of the older guys who were known to use substances before get let go but then two others who are big names or high up seemingly face no punishment at all.
      That’ll always be a poor look by implicitly saying that if you’re a big enough name you don’t face consequences. Sadly it hasn’t really changed. There are examples of where the leeway turned out good - like Randy Orton. But you’ll also see guys like Jeff Hardy or Jimmy Uso have major fuck ups and for the most part walk with a slap on the wrist. It’s always going to be an indictment that some guys can have a public intox, followed shortly by a DUI, and keep their job or have multiple DUI arrests within a couple years and keep their job while others just get cut without a second thought.

      Like how does that not warrant a game of “pick a hand”? At the very least how do you not alert the woman the guy was trying to rape her? RVD had stroke in ECW and, to a lesser extent, WWE. @AGH69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mis-heard what RVD said. It's still weird as hell, but he said some women wanted to be drugged and let the guys "have their way with them". That's not rape. Both people in that situation have some serious issues either way.

If a person's unconscious, they can't consent, and if you have sex with a person who hasn't consented, that's exactly what rape is. It's not a matter of opinion, that's literally how it works.

      @@poopsyko rue that. Shawn wasn’t known for being a fighter, hence my use of him to illustrate Jim’s point that this was a turning point where these (older) guys realized they had been big fish in small ponds, but were now swimming in much bigger waters.
      As for the older wrestlers (back in the day), I figure if they’re fighters they’d know when they’re out of their league, which is why they’re remembered as winners. I think modern wrestlers have a better understanding of their place, given the popularity of MMA. This is the best approximation where those worlds all collided together.
