Wrestling can be compared to so many other things, acting is probably the best example. It’s the ability to get the public to believe and to care about the outcome of the character. Doing a string of moves is irrelevant, it doesn’t evoke a reaction and a sense of care to the hero. That’s why meltzer and Brett can say all the nonsense they want but they’ll never understand, how can anyone actually grade a match? To do so especially when you don’t understand what pro wrestling really is is beyond stupid. It’s the equivalent of going to the circus but only liking the acrobats, then scoring the lion tamer based on his acrobatic ability….. it makes no sense…. Disagree with the Ross was the best announcer comments. I thought nwa/wcw didnt need him. Wherever he appeared up to raw resulted in downhill slides and deaths of promotions.
Ross is definitely overrated by some of his peers and the Attitude kids. Solie, Thatcher, Caudle were all better play by plays, i'd even say that Schiavone in the 80's was better than him. What is most annoying about Ross is that he never shuts up about american handegg. Get one wrestler in the ring who previously played that rugby for pussies crap and Ross won't shut up about it, making it the focal point of his commentary. It’s the ability to get the public to believe and to care about the outcome of the character.
Doing a string of moves is irrelevant, it doesn’t evoke a reaction and a sense of care to the hero.

Ross is definitely overrated by some of his peers and the Attitude kids. Solie, Thatcher, Caudle were all better play by plays, i'd even say that Schiavone in the 80's was better than him. Get one wrestler in the ring who previously played that rugby for pussies crap and Ross won't shut up about it, making it the focal point of his commentary.
He is also incredibly dumb and uneducated, something that became blatantly obvious when he was paired with Jesse Ventura (greatest colour commentator ever)
The ratings comment though, that's nonsense. Commentators have no impact on ratings or otherwise the WWF would've been falling apart when 6 Time Worst Announcer of the Year (and rightfully so) Gorilla Monsoon was on the air.
