As a Christian, with Jewish heritage, who is an artist and interested in Orthodoxy but have hang-ups around icons and prayer to the saints, this video is SO awesome to see, thank you. While I have been contemplating this stuff lately, I realized that I indeed have a mezuzah which I “venerate” to remember the power of God. It made me rethink the act of kissing icons. Prostrating during prayer is obviously no problem but prostrating TO an icon and praying to saints however, I still don’t fully understand. God bless 🕊️

I have said disrespectful things towards the Christian religion and all of its branches and its followers out of anger. Anger from disagreements and seeing wrong. I just discovered this channel, and it has helped me understand how beautiful and deep the Christian religion(s) are. It makes me not understand how some followers of Christ people I've met are filled with hate towards our brothers of this Earth, disliking people because of their skin or who they choose to love. I hope those kinds of people stop giving followers of Christ a bad reputation, because I dont want to believe that its in the nature of a follower of Christ to be so hateful and unaccepting of anyone whos different. I also want to apologize for my wrongdoings and what I have said about followers of Christ and Christ himself. I will do my best to become a more mature person, I just hope these bad people choose to do the same
I do have a respect for religion, and I think it's beautiful and important. I may not believe in it, but to me, that's okay. I appreciate this content, it gives me a better understanding. Thank you for reading this, I'm open to answering any questions or giving my point of views on anything if asked

One Quick reflection upon our lives and our actions towards others during the course of it, anyone may see quickly how many times he or she has acted in
A hateful or angry way towards another, so therefore my brother look not down upon your brothers or call them that have scandalized you bad. But seeing how we all struggle be patient with them and also yourself.
My reason for writing to you was pass along this wonderful saying by an elder of a monastery, with hopes that it might benefit you greatly. (I know you are not religious but I still think that this man’s words are for all)
“Every person must bear the weaknesses of others. Who is perfect? Who can boast of keeping their heart unblemished? Therefore, we are all sick, and anyone who judges their brother does not realize that they themselves are sick, for a sick person does not judge another sick person. Love, endure, overlook, do not become angry, do not become irritated, forgive one another so that you may emulate our Christ and be deemed worthy to be near Him in His Kingdom. My children, avoid judgment, for it is a very great sin. God is deeply saddened when we judge and despise others. Let us only take care of our own faults; we should feel pain for them. Let us judge ourselves, and we will find mercy and grace from God.”
      -Elder Ephraim of Arizona
      ❤Love in Christ.

Roman Catholic here. I love this channel.
Just to let you know that even though RC has become more laxed on religious art, we still are very much deep into iconography and only getting deeper into it. My parish has a big wall of saints bowing, praying, and looking to Infant Jesus, who's held by the blessed Theotokos, in the Eucharist Adoration Chapel, behind the host.

Unfortunately many Catholic apologists want to defend iconography as a "secondary issue" or even tertiary, as if an Ecumenical Council would be called for a secondary/tertiary issue. It is good to hear Catholics getting deeper into iconography. Please, share this video with them. Share the arguments and sources. Equip them for the best defense of iconography they can make, not needing to rely on Doctrinal Development for the Apostolic practice. Let us drive the final intellectual nail in the coffin for the iconoclasts.

Jonathan Pageau said it best when said that the crucifixion of Christ is the the pivitol point of christianity because it was the first time when the alter and the ark was joined together in flesh. That's why ancient christians carved and painted crosses everywhere.

Canonical icons combining the symbolism of Jewish practice and the realism of Gentile art is kind of symbolic itself:
    - Jews and Gentiles all being part of the Church
    - Christ having both a human and a divine nature in one person
    - Man being the bridge between the physical and spiritual

I think the misunderstanding of the second commandment is a real problem. Obviously Islam is the issue historically. By the time Martin Luther arrived on the scene, people had no concept of what an idol was. They conflate art with idols. An icon is more than art but it is nothing like an idol.

In apologetics, there has been a lot of reticence to discuss the explicit claims to icons in passages that people are used to interpreting figuratively. This is ironic, considering the claim is always made against the Orthodox that they "don't have explicit evidence." Yet, we have explicit statements of there being crucifixes. "But that's figurative!" Well, whose claims are not explicit now?
