Years ago when I was young and dumb, I was swimming under the bridge that crosses the Tweed heads river, swimming from the edge to the first bridge pylon, I had little cuts all over me from climbing out over the muscles, blood dripping in the river but I kept jumping in & out, it was a hot day.
There was something under the water (we couldn’t see what it was) but we were only in the water for a minute at a time before we’d climb out crack to shore.
We packed our swag & drove home to Melbourne, the next day on the news the reporter said they caught an 18 ft shark at the mouth at the Tweed heads river 😳.

I'm Brisbane Gal as you know, yes we get bull sharks in the river, and he was correct in that that mothers and babies are the main ones, they come in birthing seasons. Adult bull sharks enter rivers for breeding and the newly pupped juveniles head up river. Bull sharks of various sizes can be found from the mouth of the river right up to Colleges Crossing. Exactly where they are is often influenced by the amount of summer rainfall, the number has increased over the years as my mum grew up on the river and they used to swim in it all the ime. I wouldnt swim in it now lol

Western NSW about 25 years ago, very early morning - a bloke coming at me hits a 'roo , & comes onto my side of the road. I veer off the road but he hits behind the drivers door, & spins me around in the dirt. As I stop, a truck went between us. Theyre bastards, but I love them.

Mexico and Brazil actually have more venomous animals than Australia but Australia’s animals are more venomous.
People always react to our dangerous animals but no-one looks at the statistics of how many people in Australia actually die from all these different dangerous animals?! Not many surprisingly. The most deaths due to dangerous animals to Aussies are actually by bees, horses and cows. ❤️🇦🇺👍🏼

Pommies 2019 : “We got home thinking not much really happened until we showed the octopus video to some of our friends, and that’s when we found out what it was and a lot of googling was done!” Mr Saunders wrote on Facebook last night.

@@JayWhy1964 yeah and when they do jumps out onto the road,... your headlights light the road up for them to see, and they then hop along the way that they can see which is with the direction that your driving. They probably can't see off the sides of the road because it's dark and their eyes have probably adjusted a little to light,..

That's wrong in their video. Crocodiles can only hold their breath for about 1 hour, not 24 hours.

A roo smashed into the side of my better half's car on a WA evening when she was driving home. I used to see roo bars on the front of family cars as the mums collected kids from school as many families lived on rural properties.

One of the most icky things I’ve ever had to do was pull a dead crow out of my car’s grille. I wrapped in in a plastic garbage bag first but it was still awful.
Unfortunately there mustn’t have been another crow nearby to warn him by screeching “car, car”

2:05 A race horse years ago swimming in the river in Brisbane got bitten and died. They thought it was a croc but later evidence it was a bull shark. They can swim a long way up stream.

I think Australia is one of the most interesting and intriguing places in the world but living in Sweden, where nothing is particularly dangerous, makes me too afraid to dare visit 😂. I’d have no problems with kangaroos, dingos or koalas, but sea animals, crocs, spiders, snakes… 😖

Come on down and just learn to say no worries. I thought I was bush savvy but my x girlfriend grew up on a farm. She was the best at spotting snakes. Just get a good guide. Swim with friends that swim slower ;)

@@rowanbrecknell4021 I’m actually an animal lover but anything with less or more than four legs and no fur scares me 🤣. I would definitely accidentally step on a spider or something. Australia is such a fascinating country, I thoroughly enjoy it from books, movies and documentaries.
I’m in the south of Sweden, where the most dangerous wildlife would be elks and boars, but you don’t see them that often, and for the most part can be easily avoided. Crocodiles would be something else 😅.

Did you know life expectancy in Australia is nearly one year longer than in Sweden? Very few of us are killed by these deadly animals because a lot of them are found in areas less frequented by people.
The person making this video was going for sensationalism by distorting the facts. There have been no spider bite deaths in Australia in the last 42 years and there have only been three blue ringed octopus deaths in the last century!
Please don’t let videos like this put you off coming for a visit. You would be find us very friendly.

    • @miniveedub
      @miniveedub ปีที่แล้ว +1

The maker of this video was pretty sensationalist. Quite happy to distort a few facts and leave out a few to get TH-cam likes.
He left out that a lot of these creatures live in areas where few people go. He didn’t mention that there hasn’t been a spider death for 42 years or that only three people died from blue ringed octopus bites in the last century. Statistically there are very few deaths from nearly all of these, the exception being car accidents from kangaroos on the road but I imagine you would have a similar thing in countries where deer or some other animals get on the roads.

Having spent a long period of time in outback Queensland, I got used to the habit of driving down the middle of the road. There are very few vehicles on the road, and it gives you a few extra milliseconds to avoid contact with a kangaroo with a death wish. Even though my vehicles have been equipped with a ""shoo roo"" (an electronic device that emits a high frequency warning beyond the hearing capability of a human), I still managed to collect the tail of one roo, that resulted in a new headlight - not a cheap item on modern cars.🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
